I'm wondering why the Sailor Fuku outfits is at the center of most of men's deepest sexual fantasies. I have seen several examples of this, Bible Black, Inuyasha, Fooly Cooly, Dead or Alive, Bleach. Do it represent the ultimate innocence that must be corruputed by life eventually, or do it show the ultimate domaint cravings that most men hide from theirselves, only letting it out when they are alone, yet they refuse to admit that they enjoys watching hot girls in sailor fuku outfits.

Seriously, I think it has something to do with the fact that the Japanese love high-school aged kids and that sailor fuku have become and established and easily recognizable part of everyday life in Japan. Similar to nurse and police uniforms.

I saw a documentary or something that suggested one reason that schoolgirl outfits are a popular fetish in japan. I don't know how much of the phenomena this accounts for, but it makes sense.

The theory was that japanese teenagers come of age at a time when all of the girls they know are wearing school uniforms, and then once they get out of highschool, they are basically so stressed and over worked that they lose all connection to the opposite sex. This means that their last sexual image was of girls they went to school with, and the image sticks.

Also, uniforms and recognized clothing are damn sexy to both men and women, I guess (nurses, french maids, doctors, cops, firefighters, nuns, secretaries, librarians, french teachers, catholic school girls, UPS delivery man).

Yeah, that's right. UPS. In the 50s it was the milkman. In the 70s it was the pizzaman. In the 90s it was the cableguy. And in 2005 it's UPS.

Edit: Does the school uniform thing work both ways. Any cougars out there lookin' to seduce some guy in one of those high-collared black suits that the male students wear in anime? (The ones that make them look like pall-bearers)

It's the appeal of a woman in uniform. There are are tons of women who have said that they love men in uniform. Nobody knows where the appeal of a uniform comes from.

For me (I have a liking of such things), I would say the main reason is something to do with innocence and, well, 'cuteness'. It certainly isn't because of any dominant tendencies, quite the opposite is true for me. It also isn't because of any paedophilic leanings, because I can safely say that I'm not turned on by children. But there is something that bothers me about a lot of adult females, in terms of actually having a relationship with them - they're too cynical, too goal-driven, they're too sexually-oriented and such like. It is quite intimidating; not because I would want to be in control, but because I would be in constant fear of them 'changing their mind', for one reason or another. Not to mention that the obsession people have with sex these days is irritating. So while I'm not attracted to children, the adults I am attracted to and get along with best invarably have some childlike qualities - some level of innocence and cuteness.

Japanese school uniforms are the epitome of cuteness... I'm not sure whether it's a physical property of the uniform or just an association made after watching so much anime, but still. :P So if I see someone wearing one, they automatically look cuter, and I also make a subconscious mental analysis which makes me believe that person's personality will also be innocent and cute. Which as I stated, is something which definitely attracts me to a girl.


There is also the fact that uniforms are sexy in general, of course. <_< >_> I tend to like most types of uniform - for anyone familiar with the anime Martian Successor Nadesico, I especially love the uniform worn by Yurika Misumaru (<3). Why are uniforms in general great? Hmmm...
1) They just look good. Smart and cute, normally.
2) The great thing about uniforms for me is that they indicate some level of power (this applies less for schoolgirl uniforms, but still), hence pleasing the submissive of me, but without the nasty stuff that often comes with it (the kind of thing I talked about in my first paragraph; the goal-driven, cynical type of thing). It's perfect, power but with innocence and cuteness! :laugh
(I don't really go for nurse or nun outfits though)

So yeah, it's basically because (a) it looks cute (possibly due to associations with cute anime characters), and (b) it indicates some level of cuteness and innocence in the wearer's personality, which is a good thing (its nicer, and less intimidating).

That's just me, I'm sure different people get different things from it... but I think for a lot of people, especially within the anime community, it's all down to the cuteness, yo.

I'm into tomboy-ish looking/acting girls more than ones who dress with less clothing than most two year olds.

They just have some kind of odd thing about them that's attractive. AH, whatever.
