Crichton and technology gone awry, or King and metaphysical survivor horror?

I've always been able to read Chrichton's works, but King's movies are great.
I've never got a chance to read Chrichton.
So Stephen King it is by default. :zaru

Give Crichton a shot. You won't regret it.
...
Airframe you might regret, but there's always one or two duds.
Also, you're all forgetting to vote.
I'll probably grab a couple of books from the library.

Depends on why I'm reading, who I will opt for usually.
But, generally speaking, I'm going to go with a Crichton book over a King book, despite my undeniable love for all that is supernatural and horrifying. This is mostly because Crichton has the ability to be just as thrilling as King: his stories tend to incorporate a sort urban supernaturalism beyond even the traditional science fiction base that adds that same chill to the atmosphere of the novel while staying relatively realistic. But, added to that, he does a fabulous job at always managing a fine balance between characterization and plot, in a way that makes both seem well-developed and three dimensional.
With King, his novels have always been a total win for me or an absolute miss. I'm either completely engrossed in the story and characters and possibly thinking about sleeping with the lights on for the next decade or two; or, I'm annoyed at the shallow plot, unbelievable build-up and mildly idiotic supernatural factors that have me more apt to chuckle as opposed to shiver.
In other words, I'm more consistently wowed by Crichton and think of him as more of a quality writer than King, in spite of the fact that King's successes tend to appeal to me more than the majority of Crichton's career.
Give Crichton a shot. You won't regret it.

Yes, no one should ever try to work their way through Airframe unless they really really love technical aero-based jargon for tens upon tens of pages. :sag
Between the two authors, Stephen King is selected as my preference. The reason for this choice, I have read/own several of his books. Moreover, I enjoy the genre Mr. King specializes in. As for Michael Crichton, unfortunately I have not had the opportunity in reading much of his material. But I am willing to test the waters, so to speak.

I voted for Stephen King since I've never read any of Crichton's work
when I finish reading my current books, I will try one of Crichton's

How about H.P. Lovecraft? :zaru
Well, King if I'm forced to chose between those two, but I prefer Lovecraft to both of them honestly.
