You guys left out the basics!
Stairway, anyone? :P
And how has Jimi Hendrix not been mentioned yet?
Star Spangled Banner
Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)
All Along the Watchtower
etc etc etc
I'll assume you omitted them because they are so obvious, and not because you forgot them :)

Though, one of my faves would be Johnny B. Goode by Jimi Hendrix and B.B. King live, awesome. I still don't get how Jimi makes that sound x_X

LoD, can you send me that song? 0_o I never even knew it existed!
But Chuck Berry's version of Johnny B. Goode definitely deserves to be up there with the legends :thumbs

I hate Stairway to Heaven SO very much.
But everything Jimi belongs in this list I agree.

Stairway is overdone, overlisted, and over covered. But it IS a great song.
NOTE: I am probably not tired of it because I only heard it this year :sweatdrop
@LoD--YES! Gimme da Jimi! :music

thrice: so strange i remember you
Good choice. The lead guitar on the outro to that will smash your fingers to oblivion and back.
Riffs I feel I should mention:
"Counter Parts and Number Them" by AlexisOnFire
"And All Things will End..." by Avenged Sevenfold
"To End the Rapture(Heavy Metal Version)" by Avenged Sevenfold
"Angel of Death" by Slayer(The breakdown is friggin rediculous)
"See You In the Shallows" by Thrice.

So Strange I Remember You...great song, and amazing guitar :thumbs
As far as Thrice guitar flurries go, the whole album of THE ARTIST IN THE AMBULANCE rocks...
Under a Killing Moon and The Artist in the Ambulance get (and deserve) a lot of praise,
but
The Beltsville Crucible (the opening)
Don't Tell and We Won't Ask (the beginning)
The Abolition of Man (the end)
STARE AT THE SUN (the whole damn song!)
are all pretty bad ass, guitar-wise. They are shredding on all of those tracks :omg

We are getting a lot of metal heads posting fave riffs today :thumbs
While we are talking Metallica:
-One
-Fade to Black
Let's not forget Guns 'n' Roses, shall we?
-November Rain
-Sweet Child o' Mine
And the wildest solo that I can think of ATM:
Van Halen - Eruption
But to end I think I will switch it up a bit by posting some blues:
B.B. King - The Thrill is Gone
^Those are some crazy blues licks :omg

Queen - every Queen song ever. Most notable are Bohemian Rhapsody, Princes of the Universe, and Fat Bottomed Girls.
Kamelot - Serenade
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall (pt 2)
Dio - Stand up and Shout. also Don't Talk to Strangers, you know you love Dio.
The Beatles - While My Guitar Gentle Weeps.

@Superior:
Since you mention Queen, I have to point out Brighton Rock, which has an amazing solo.
Then, playing off your mention of Pink Floyd, I have to bring up Comfortably Numb. It has beautiful riffs, and it is my all time fave Floyd song.
Also: I am dling those other songs you mentioned :thumbs

Have all (I think) 3 of their albums. Those are indeed good tracks :thumbs I was just listing tracks from The Artist in the Ambulance.
Another song that is awesome that you may not have heard is Japan, by the Sex Machineguns. It shreds pretty nicely, and it is j-metal :omg
If any of you want it, PM me :)

I think the most memorable riff for me is the intro to "Unholy Confessions" by A7X. Great riff. Also a big fan of the intro and interlude of "Deadbolt" by Thrice.
And if you wanna get classic, "Peace Frog" by The Doors.

=O Thats my fav Thrice song from that album. Have you heard Image of the Invasible on the album Vhiessu? That has great riffs
Emery

Yes I have all of Thrice's albums. Image Of The Invisible has nothing on Red Sky, For Miles, and The Earth Will Shake.

02-25-2006, 07:48 PM
I just like how Image Of The Invisable is more faster paced.
Stand and feel your worth is also a very good song from Vheissu.
