is anyone here a skillgamer or a professional gamer? Currently i play the several games for cash, but my top game is bejeweled 2.
Also have you participated in any video competitions? If you could compete in any game for cash which would it be?
I play on the skill game sites king.com and worldwinner. If I were to play a system game for cash it would probably be either unreal tournament or halo 2. :D

I have played Halo 3, GoW and Counter Strike Source pro tournaments. I gave it up and settled down for just casual gaming.

I play "pro" in ssbb where i'm at.
Mall's and Game stores have all kinds of ssbb tourneys, so i win a cell phone here, a gift card there, and sometimes 50o bucks.:LOS

I'm still looking for a job at those 'RPG gold-farming' companies here, but the hours will kill me.

It's really not worth the time, hard to make a good go of it unless you wanna hit many places in a weekend. I've done everything from Magic the Gathering to Naruto tournaments for cash back when the first game was released in japan. I was damn good, but even winnin three a week, you've lost so many more hours than it pays...
Trust me, ain't worth it unless you simply love it to death. Even then, I tell ya it'll kill your enjoyment. Guys, just go get a real job. Just my two cents...

cant i just tell you here? its called skill gaming where you can play your favorite online games and win money. king.com and worldwinner.com are the best skillgaming sites.
i used to make more per month in bejeweled to. if you are good at the game WW has premium tournaments where you can win 100's of dollars in one pop. if you win alot of those its very easy to win 1k-10k a month in your winnings for you fave online games. king.com has progressive tournaments for ones fave online games. check them out. i recently found out about skill gaming just slightly over a year ago. its a dream come true for me :laugh you need to be 18 or 21 to play though.
regarding game testers - i have always wanted that as a job (in my spare time) i dont know if there are any positions like that in my area. i have to check. is 33 an hour on the high or low side considering pay rates for such a position?

^man, Starcraft. I placed 8th in a world tourney when I was 14. That was a lot of fun. Also back when Koreans were just lagbots that you spammed ".................................................. ............................................" to boot out of games.

I used to play Naruto GNT 4 for money going to tourneys across the country and getting top spots and winning doubles tourneys with my bro. Aside from that not really, I play all my games for fun anyway. I might start going cross country for Brawl but mainly to meet up with friends and hang out, not really for the tourneys.

No.
I could get into MLG if I wanted to. My friend is in MLG, so I could ask him for a tryout XD.
I have not competed in any competitions in gaming, but I am pro, so I'm sure I could win a few of them.

No normal person can seriously make a living out of Gaming alone unless you practice that game 24/7.
Oh and of course Korean Starcraft players.

but people DO that all the time. thats why they are calleed professional gamers. if you are good you can make a career out of professional gaming and skillgaming. i made 80,000 dollars last year from my bejeweled 2 winnings. so why cannot people who are more skilled than me make even twice that much in a year?
@ DNR - oo which games do you think would give you your best income? and are you good enough to be a professional gamer :pek :amuse

i have a friend who plays @ king.com for about 10 hours a day. He was able to buy a new car in just a month and a half.. i'd recommend it.. but if you're good at halo you can give it a shot.. i'd advise against it though.. the others are pretty good..i tried it and got shut down..

If I do make money it's from side betting on matches.

i am curious to that too :nod:nod
anyone here have an actual job in gaming?
I used to be seriously good at starcraft and warcraft 3, so I considered the route. Then I decided not too, casual gaming is more fun. The amount of time needed to play at a professional level takes away too much, and in the end after a few years, you eventually have to consider retiring because your brain is no longer as fast as the younger players. The biggest problem about pro gaming is what you do after you're done. Some people might find other things to do, but most people have a hard time and probably just end up doing something still related to the game they played.

i have no idea if 33 an hour is on the high or low side...i rarely see the guy. he's so seasonal and only works at best buy to keep the discount. as for how to get the job? idk...i just know he kept trying for a LONG time until a position finally opened up.

Now that's weird... I work for HP and to my knowledge, no such department exists. Then again, if it does, I bet those in it would probably prefer to not let others like me know about it lol. I have to go log in to the corporate site now as I am jealous, they won't even give my ass a laptop let alone a %*@##$% Blackbird! If you are BSing me though, I swear I will think several mean thoughts in your general direction.

Yes I make money off playing video games.
For the most part is was Super Smash Bros Melee tournaments and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike that I made a great deal of money and prizes off of. However I did get some cash prizes and other prizes from winning...Soul Calibur II tournaments, Mortal Kombat Deception tournaments, Tekken 5 tournaments, Goldeneye 64 tournaments, Mario Kart 64 tournaments, SSB tournaments, and also Starcraft tournaments.
