i read the manga just so i could watch the raw, and at least improve on my japanese :P

what a clever excuse to say i can't wait for the episode XD

If you don't feel like spoiling yourself with the everything I suggest you read the chapter that corresponds to the next episode. But I do reccomend reading the entire thing. *Ecchi is always a plus :D

Both.
Anime is good, and manga is great, and has some additional ecchi :D

The anime's doing a good job so far, but some scenes were a bit dragged on or taken out.

Doing both wouldn't hurt you though :nod

In my opinion, the anime is doing great, but it can't completely capture the style of the manga, which is unique and very stylish.
Plus the anime misses out significant aspects of the manga (for example in episode 4, Black Star forced Sid to tell them about Franken Stein by exposing Tsubaki's cleavage - in the anime, they just arrive there). Also, the anime has some contrasting dialogue changes

And it depends on whether you want to know the whole story and anticipate it's adaptation, or watch the show and anticipate the next episode.

Of course, this isn't Naruto where some people were tempted to read the manga for 1 and half years (and were rewarded with the shittiest anime adaptation ever). BONES is pretty faithful.

It's up to anyone who's wavering.

I guess you could call that "cleavage"... :rotfl

yep that's what i do. since the anime faithfully follows the canon, well except for *some* part though :P

You should read it, but still watch the anime. It's definitely not a waste to do both.

hmm, i was thinking this too, like the anime is soo good, imagine what the manga is like??

I've also been thinking of reading the manga. The only problem I'd have with this is knowing what's going to happen. That'd really bore me of the series if I knew everything that was coming up.

I'd like to watch the chapters that go with each episode though. I just don't know what ones go where :gar

Wo is episode 4 out? Why is the art in the manga so different from the anime?

Wo is episode 4 out? Why is the art in the manga so different from the anime?

Because the first chapters of mangas are normally mehish... in this particular case, the prologues specially have a not so good drawings :/.

But it gets A LOT better latter on... closer to the anime, and even surpasing it in some desings... for example BlackStar looks a lot better in the manga IMO... his hair in the anime it's just too plain -_-. In the manga is a lot more deffined. In fact, in the anime, BlackStar's hair looks wrong sometimes... like showing too much forehead and too much hair behing the neck... I don't know... maybe it's just me :zaru

The manga art is hot in the later chapters :LOS

I'd like to watch the chapters that go with each episode though. I just don't know what ones go where :gar

Take the episode number and subtract 3. That will give you the chapter number.

NaraShikamaru

o_O how does that work?

Episode 1 = -2
Episode 2 = -1

etc.

1~3 were prologues.

Nah, it's because episode 1, 2 and 3 of the anime are from the three pilot chapters that were released for soul eater (Yes, the prologues were originally, in fact, pilot chapters xD). The actual counting for chapters starts in what is anime episde 4.

So:

Anime episode 1 = Pilot / Prologue chapter 1
Anime episode 2 = Pilot / Prologue chapter 2
Anime episode 3 = Pilot / Prologue chapter 3
Anime episode 4 = Manga chapter 1
Anime episode 5 = manga chapter 2

And so on :P

Nope.

31 is the latest scanlated manga chapter

49 is the latest manga RAW (well, Shonen Gangan was released this week... and there is a cover, as well as a colored spread of Soul Eater... But I think there isn't a full RAW yet. But there should be one soon :3).

Zoe
05-10-2008, 08:30 PM
Actually, there are a few of the later chapters scanlated, but you'd be skipping ahead by >10 chapters.

You mean www.onemanga.com ? Yay. But, I advise you, that's online reading.

If you want to download the chapters to your HD, try www.mangatraders.com

The art changes quite a bit in chapter 1 (because the 3 prologues aren't chapters, they are pilot chapters.... and the art in those three is well below that of the actual manga.... And anyways, the first chapters have just OK art, but it keeps improving ;P.)

Yeah. That's what I was thinking...UGH what a dilemma =__=;;

I was "previewing" and skimming through the chapters and damnit...GAH so much...GOOD STUFF :D: I just can't wait for the anime to animate everything...

GOING CRAZY...I jsut stopped reading after Soul and Maka stopped dancing >___<;;

and I also skimmed through the latest chapters :zaru

........manga is friggin tempting....uwahhh///

I want to be surprised though...like in the latest episode. If I knew what was going to happen, I would've have died laughing...

The manga is well worth reading. It's pretty much certain the anime will branch off from the original storyline (I highly doubt the manga will end for 51 episodes) so when it does you'll get twice the soul eater goodness and won't have to find out which chapter it branched off. It's nice reading it to notice the little differences as well

Im just wondering, is the Soul Eater manga issued weekly or monthly? And how fast to they usually get translated?

emROARS
05-22-2008, 06:29 AM
Manga is issued monthy and they get translated quickly enough. But even if it is monthly, it's still around 40-45 pages.

Zoe
05-22-2008, 10:09 AM
There's no problem with getting it translated quickly. The issue is with getting somebody to actually scan in the raw.

Ehh I see no reason to start reading the manga...the anime is really good so why spoil it? I only turn to manga when the anime turns to shit and is no longer worth watching (ie. Naruto)
