Well, there's the "father" of all Gundam pilots which is Amuro Ray... though Char Aznable is more kick-ass and he pilots any mobile suit quite well.

There's Garrod Ran from Gundam X. He's moody, sometimes perky and he pilots well not because he isn't a "special" human being. He's just good by default.

Lastly, there's Kira Yamato from Gundam SEED - Amuro Ray's counterpart in the Cosmic Era. Both of them have the same qualities and moods. Not to mention, the bastard pilots my favorite Gundam of all time which is Freedom. :D

My favorites are Athrun Zala, Kira Yamata, Andy Waldfeld and Mu in Seed.
In Destiny Kira again as well as Shinn. Athrun has been useless so far with his tussels against Sting. All he does is shoot at him, transform into mobile armor mode and fly around the whole time.
In Wing I like Heero, Trowa, and Milliardo the best.

Those are the only series I've seen though so I can't comment on the rest.

Haman Karn. She is my goddess, what can I say? She played the AEUG and Titans for fools and helped make both of them weakened so that a Neo Zeon invasion could occur. Plus she kicked Char's butt. No draw, no contest. Hyaku Shiki got pwned. No way around it. And while we're on the subject of Char...he is the most overrated "Newtype" in Gundam. Let's just put it this way: To quote Scirrocco, "You've failed to become a true Newtype, Char! A mongrel like you deserves to be culled!" The fact that Char is such a weak newtype really diminishes some of what Amuro accomplished in CCA. And the Qubeley rocks. So does Haman's "Dominatrix" outfit from ZZ.

Amuro from Z through CCA. Finally able to put some faith back in humanity, Amuro awakens his Newtype powers and becomes at least as strong as Judau, Kamille, and Scirrocco, if not stronger. Though, you can't really judge because he went up against Char.

Anavel Gato. Neue Ziel ownz my soul. Plus, best quip to a "hero" ever: "I'M THE ENEMY, YOU IDIOT!"

Even though he went downhill for the first three quaters of DESTINY, he kicked ass all along in SEED and will soon be kicking ass again for the last quater. I mean c'mon he did owned Kira and Strike in SEED with his Aegis. =D

Errmm.. Strike vs Aegis = Draw. And if you ask me, skill was irrelevant in the Strike vs. Aegis fight. They weren't fighting with skill, they were fighting out of pure rage. It can be easily seen in the way they both fought so recklessly, right up in eachother's faces. you guys need to take another look at Kira's fight with Klueze. We saw Kira dodging DRAGOONS like a maniac at the end of SEED, something that could only be done with some serious skills, most likely those of a newtype. With the NT sensing Kira did at the end of SEED, and the few NT pings he got as well, I think it's pretty much a given he was developing into either a NT, or realizing some greater potential as the "Ultimate Coordinator". Whichever one it is, the fact still remains, it's there. And without that skill, which we've never seen from Asuran...chances are he wouldn't have done anywhere near as well as Kira did against an enemy with DRAGOONS. IMO, Kira>>ALL

Wow. She really showed just why she is one of the best pilots to ever be in a Gundam series. Dueled one on one with Judau and had him cornered. She won that fight. I'm saying that now. She won that fight. I say this not because it actually happened, but because I discount all that happened in the completely one sided bout that followed the bio-sensor magically putting ZZ back together. Good grief but that was one Z object that should've died in Z. All in all, she used superior skills to gain the upper hand on a superior mobile suit. Now, if that ain't good piloting, I don't know what is. Judau even pulled the "seperating core fighter right as I'm about to get pwned" move that everyone was so proud of Shinn for doing. And that still didn't work.

can any one tell me if Heero is the charecter that tries to break his bone on purpose to make himself stronger. In one episode hi jumps out of a hospital with another piolet and intitianaly dosent pull his shoot untill the last second to break as many bones as possible. it has been a while since i watched the the sereis and even at that i got bits and peices of the series. Any was that character kicks the most ass along with Maxwell. You just cant mess with the deathsythe and some one who will intentially break his bones and set them himself to become stronger he is a freak.

Let's see...Zechs has to be my favorite. Just when you think he's a good guy, he goes and does something assholish. Like the moment that somebody mentioned on the first page when Treize challenges him to a duel and Zechs just says to fire the cannon. That ruled. But really, wouldn't you do the same thing? Oh, and he's uber hot too.

Treize is a close second, because he was one of the most philosophical characters ever and a misunderstood.

From the same series, Dorothy and Wufei also get honorable mentions. Dorothy for being freakin' psycho, yet understandable. Wufei for being badass in general.

And I haven't really watched a whole lot of other series, but I remember being impressed by Char of Mobile Suit Gundam.
