Fixed it for you. :P

So far I think the only "good" job was Cornelia. Of course I'm expecting big things from Cripsin Freeman as Diethard. He's Jeremiah?! :arg

Some of the voice acting wasn't as good as I had hoped. C.C. felt a little flat (at least during her first two lines - I know that's probably getting knit picky) and Lelouch's voice just doesn't seem to fit quite right. Also, some of their translations were a bit funny (C.C. getting shot and the contract scene for instance). I'll have to wait to see more of the series to make a conclusive decision.

Ahhhh my ears. Uhh half of the voice acting is terrible. C.C.'s voice suited her well but, man, her acting was terrible! Lelouch's voice is just weird. It doesn't fit him at all. Young Lelouch's voice reminded me of something straight out of Ben 10 or something, it was terrible. It's not that I expect it to sound like the anime but their voices should suit their characters, ya know?

Clovis was easily the highlight of the voice acting for me as he was the only one who actually seemed good. Yeah he hammed it up but that's exactly what Clovis does.

......meh. I was expecting MUCH worse from the trailer. Though I'm happy that Johnny Young Bosch didn't do the "one srs business voice for all occasions" thing he does with Ichigo in Bleach. The higher, sweeter tone sounds alright. But I worry for the srs business mixed with smexy we get for Zero.

Suzaku sounded like a whiny emo bitch=perfect.

C.C. was.....okay. No more cries of bad acting and she'll be good.

Crispin Freeman.......okay. I was happy that he was able to pull of this episode's Jeremiah, but it makes me worry about Orange-kun.

Viletta.........for the one line she had, she nailed it, and nailed it hardcore good. Me likey.

Charles Vi Brittania.......this should be interesting. I think they'll re-cast for the second season, I worry about the line of "Charles Vi Brittannia shall now ingrave the memories into your mind!" but for the amount of lines the Emperor has in this season, I don't think this will be too bad.

Rivalz was okay. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. Then I remembered that I felt the same way in S1 with the Seiyuu for Rivalz too.

Shirely.......WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! !!!!

Milly......okay for now, I have to see later lines to know whether she can cutt it.

Thats it. FOR NOW! CODE GEASS~ENGLISH DUB, YOUR ON NOTICE!!! :sun

Viletta, Jeremiah, Diethard, Suzaku = 11/10

especially viletta, her va is spot on perfect :cry

lloyd was surprisng good as well. he sounded just like his japanese counterpart when he said "congratualtions"

Overall it wasn't bad. The only notable one was C.C. The acting was just fucking horrible.

Well, I guess it's a good thing the trailer lowered my expectations so much. Not too bad but not that great either. It's good enough. I think the side characters' voices sound a lot better than the main, except for Suzaku. His was very good.

When C.C.'s VA is normally narrating, it's fine. But when she shouted "He must not die!" I was like... :o.O. My ears! Way off and horrible acting. Seriously, why do the female voices sound like they came out a click flick or Gossip Girl. :notrust At least Viletta's voice sounds right on.

And while Lelouch's voice isn't as bad as it was in the trailer, it's gonna take time to get used to.

Not bad at all, I enjoyed it and watched it all. Nothing in the episode made me want to turn it off or stop watching.

Very good dub imo, I think some people here are elitist and have their expectations set to high.

ugh...her name is Karen Stadtfield, clearly a german name, so what the fuck is "Kallen"? If I had never seen CG before, I would have thought her name was Colin the way they pronounced it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kallen

A real name, obviously. Obscure, yes. But so is Nunnally.

Kallen is also the official name in Japan, always has been. http://geass.jp/first/world_03_ex.html?pid=chara_04.html

Let me ask, did you follow through Shitsen... uh, I mean Shinsen?

Ok, so there's a person somewhere named Kallen, that doesn't really convince me. カレン can be read either way, and I have no idea why you wouldn't read it as a common name if you could. People don't call her shalee, they call her shirley, because it makes sense. The only reason I can think of to pronounce it Kallen is to go "this name is unique and special because it comes from an anime" which pisses me off.

You're probably right though, in which case I'm just going to be pissed off at the anime's creators rather than the dubbers. Her name should be Karen even if it isn't, because both Karen and Stadtfeld are names of germanic origin, and Kallen is just engrish as far as I'm concerned.

No, Kallen is of Germanic origin. It's a German, Swedish and Dutch surname. But Lelouch, Rivalz and Nunnally are all surnames, too.

http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Kallen-name-meaning.ashx

1. Swedish (Källén): ornamental name from källa ‘spring’, ‘source’ + the adjectival suffix -én, a derivative of Latin -enius.
2. German: from the medieval personal name Gallus (see Gall).
3. Dutch: variant of Callens.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense now. I thought it was another one of those names that anime fans mispronounce just for the lulz. It still sounded like Colin in the dub though, which is bound to confuse the hell out of people.

Kallen's matched up really well, its just that it doesn't sound as good in english. Shirley's was a perfect match in my opinion too.

I liked them all except Lelouch's voice. Too much Bitchigo in it... Johnny's voice is good, but not for a character like Lelouch. Still, it's very hard to find the right voice actor for a character like that, so I think they should be cut a break.

My favorites: Suzaku, Clovis, Jeremiah, Viletta, and Lloyd. Of course I liked most of them, but those were the best done in my opinion. Lol @ the people tearing it apart already. :sag

That would have made her dub so perfect in this episode.

CC's voice. Well done.

I lol @ chibi Ichigo's voice.

Actually I just noticed I typed Ichigo accidentally. That was completely unintentional. However I shall continue it because I truly think they did a bloody poor job in casting. Bosch's action hero voice just doesn't fit Lelouch at all.

Rivalz is pretty good. Rihvuhl, hm? I always thought it Rival-z.

Shirley is pretty good as well.

Millie is pretty good, not quite bubbly enough.

KALLEN NO! SHE SOUNDS HORRIBLE :argh

Ichigo has the accent right. But his voice just isn't deep enough.

Clovis does it fitting. I can't remember his original but he has the voice mannerisms.

Diethard, perfect.

OOH! Can't wait for Orange-kun's.

Okay well Kallen's voice isn't that bad....eh....it could be better....I guess it's decent.

Actually as the episode progresses. It's pretty good. Wait no. She sucks when trying to do her battle screams.

ORANGE KUN! PERFECT! His voice is great.

Viletta's is quite good. Actually they did it quite well.

LLoyd...quite good...except not quite matching. However it's good in its own way. Even though it doesn't match the Japanese exactly, it fits the character well enough.

ITS JUST NOT THE SAME WITHOUT BEING LORD-O :argh

SUZAKU SPIN KICK! OMFG!

I FORGOT HE DID THAT HERE!

SPINZAKU SPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!

Suzaku....its decent enough...

THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS
THATS NOT POISON GAS

So Kallen, she's great talking normal. But she can't shout or sound pissed for crap.

The general guy, his voice works well. His name was Bartley right?

Shirley is perfect.

CC sounds just a bit too young....she'll do. Ichigo can do the weak Lelouch good enough but he can't do JUST AS KEIKAKU Lelouch properly.

The emperor is flawless.

He has the voice manerisms down pat. BUT HIS VOICE JUST DOESNT FIT! :C

HAPPILY YOUR HIGHNESS?! IT SHOULD BE YES MY LORDO! :mad

Majority of the voices are dead on. :iria

C.C.'s dub voice could use some work but I'll wait to here more than 5 lines from her. :P

I can't believe I forgot he used it in episode one. :rotfl

Lelouch was the biggest disgrace. Now I don't mind Johnny Yong Bosch as an actor, I mind when he is getting EVERY major role in EVERY anime nowadays. Renton, Ichigo, Lelouch... The last one is the biggest miscast I recall, his voice was a lot more rough than anything, and didn't sound menacing like Jun Fukuyama did, he had energy to say the least.

Kate Higgins was OK as C.C., just need to be less Sakura-ish and I can stand her.

Yuri Lowenthal was good as Suzaku, but the moment he came in, I could have swore his voice would have fit Lelouch A LOT BETTER than Suzaku.

Young Lelouch? My god, that part in the original japanese version was awesome when he said he's going to destroy Brittania, but the english voice didn't fit the emotion of the character AT ALL. Ben 10? Please it's more like Code Lyoko if you need something to put in on a cliche-o-meter.

Lelouch: I like it even though it's not deep enough. Some reason I found him ordering those soldiers to kill themselves badass with his soft voice. I think after awhile he will get better.

Suzaku: it's perfect and fitted him very well even though I wouldn't mind Yuri being Lelouch instead.

CC: Huggins was good, but she can be better

Kallen: it sounds similar to her japanese actor, but she can improve which I'm sure she will.

Emperor: this guy is perfect for him. I enjoyed his work for Van (ToA) and this one guy from .Hack GU.

Orange-kun: Crispin Freeman ftw

Villeta: she sounds sexy

My opinions on the voices:

Lelouch: Bosch does not fit him at all :arg Well, I'll admit he's good as his normal student voice, but when he gets into his serious mode his voice barely changes at all.
Suzaku: Pretty good.
CC: It's all right; it fits her pretty well.
Kallen: Good when she talks normally, like Peter said. Everything else is just :argh
Shirley: Good
Millay: I don't remember her voice since I was reading comments on 4chan while I was watching it and must have missed it :gin
Rivalz: Good
Jeremiah: Perfect
Viletta: Don't remember hers either.
Lloyd: Liam O'Brien is always great :awesome
Cecile: Don't remember hers either.
Diethard: Perfect
Clovis: Perfect
Emperor: Don't remember his either.

I do like most of the characters' voices. The problem is that the main character's is so unfitting :D:

We used to think that because of the name, but in ep. 2 of the second season they showed a new map that proves otherwise.

Not it's effectively the British. Code Geass history (and time) is different than ours.
As an alternative universe, there are several divergences from our "normal history" in the world of Code Geass.

* 55 BC - Julius Caesar attempts to invade Britain, but was met with strong resistance from the local tribes, who elected a super-leader - the Celtic King Eowyn. He was the first member of the Britannian royal line.

* Sakuradite (known as the "Philosopher Stone" at the time) was discovered near Stonehenge. The scarcity of Sakuradite impeded the research to turn it into a viable energy source. However, Marco Polo had traveled further east and reached Japan and discovered that Japan had a large deposit of Sakuradite.

* 16th Century a.t.b. - Elizabeth I who remained single throughout her life had a son, Henry IX. The potential fathers, Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester, Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, and Duke of Britannia Carl, gained influence and power as a result.

* 1770s a.t.b. - The American Revolution (known as Washington's Rebellion) takes place. The Duke of Britannia at the time bribes Benjamin Franklin with promises of titles and territories in the colonies, who was charged with appealing to Louis XVI of France's assistance in the colonies' war for independence. Thereafter, Benjamin Franklin seems to have become an earl. As a result, the Continental Army suffers a decisive defeat during the Siege of Yorktown, and George Washington dies.

* End of the 18th Century a.t.b. - The Western world enters the Age of Revolution, with numerous people's revolutions taking place – save for Britannia, which under Henry X continue to hold absolute monarchy. After the French revolutions Napoleon emerges. He wins the Battle of Trafalgar and occupies London. In 1807 a.t.b. , Queen Elizabeth III retreats to Edinburgh, where a popular revolutionary militia arrests her and forces her to abdicate and end the monarchy, an event known as The Shame of Edinburgh. However, The Duke of Britannia (in America) Ricardo Von Britannia and his friend and subordinate, Knight of One Sir Richard Hector, brings Elizabeth III and her followers to the New World and establish a capital on the east coast of North America.

* 1813 a.t.b. - Elizabeth III died without leaving any heirs; she was supposed to have chosen her successor from one of her blood relations, but on her dying bed she nominated her lover, Ricardo Von Britannia instead. She is therefore famous for being "The Queen who loved throughout her stormy life." The Britannian year (a.t.b.) is established, with the origin year set as to the ascendancy of the first Celtic King.

* 1821 a.t.b. - Napoleon died on his way back to France after his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo; although it was never proven, it is rumoured that assassins poisoned his food in accordance to Elizabeth III's will: her last words included the famous line "I do not forget slights to my honour."

Lelouch sounds awful, JYB just can't pull it off.

I just checked out the English dub. If anything, I think I don't have much problems with the voices. I think it's okay.

And now I know why some people call Kallen a "badass mother". :lmao
