Yes.
On August 10, 2010, a.t.b., the Holy Empire of Britannia overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames, in less than a month. In the aftermath of Britannia's invasion, Japan lost its freedom and rights and was renamed Area 11. The Japanese people, renamed as "Elevens", were forced to survive in ghettos, while Britannians lived in first-class settlements. Rebel elements persisted, however, as pockets of Japanese organizations who struggled against the Empire for the independence of Japan.
After his father, the Emperor of Britannia, didn't prevent the assassination of his mother, an attack which also left his sister crippled, the young prince named Lelouch vowed to destroy Britannia. Seven years later, living in Area 11, he encounters a mysterious girl who gives him the power of Geass. With it, he finally has the power that he needs to defeat Britannia and fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister can live happily.

I will recommend Season 1.
R2 has been mediocre so far, and I'm probably dropping it and wait a year to return to it.

Yes, I'm not a huge fan of mecha anime, but this is turning out to be epic. It won't be long before it has surpassed Death Note. Also, season 2 is very exciting at the moment, and I don't think that will change.
Watch Code Geass. Just because R2(season 2) already is better than the first season.

Tbh I'd rather not have my friend's watch it
They'll totally misunderstand everything and treat it as just another Naruto or Bleach

This is the Code Geass forum.
I also believe Code Geass is one of the most fun anime that's been made in a lot of fucking time. The first eight episodes or so aren't that great, but after that you get into some awesome arcs.
When Mao hits, the anime turns brilliant.
Yes.

Hmm. This is mostly in regards of season one (because I've seen two episodes of season two. Two is not enough:argh)
Characters are strong and well portrayed. Especially Lelouch and Suzaku (You'll love one of them and hate the other). Action sequences are well pulled off, and because Lelouch isn't a real pilot he won't hog the attention from the rest of the cast(which means that Kallen actually isn't a faux action girl but the real deal:argh)
Storywise it's...well, it's kinda hard to say really. The story plays second fiddle to the characters, but in a good way. The story is just an excuse to give us epic mecha fights and dynamic characters. I expect the story to start demanding more attention in season two though.
Definitely one of the best out there:nod

Code Geass is one of the few anime's i'd say you MUST watch. Season 2 is in set up mode with new characters and things practically being set back to zero. But i'm lovin it. Get with it.
Its a prince who's been sorta exiled and fights his the kingdom and aims to change the world for the better for his sister. He gets a gift that helps him do it.
If none of what anyone said so far has intrigued you....
....Think Itachi with a Gundam....yeah son lol.

I can only think of two reasons. Either they really don't like it or they just want to sound different from the rest. :zaru

The only thing that can be a turn off about this series is the fact that CLAMP did the character designs. Other than that, it's a pretty innovative series. Hell, the common formula in the mecha genre is that the main protagonist is the pilot who does the fighting, while the strategist/commander is one of the backing characters, and this is where the show differs from the rest of the genre.
To give you an idea of how awesome it is, it's like a Gundam series with Char as the main character.

In the nutshell, this series if like Death Note + Gundam + Good Story/Plot + Good Mecha Action + Alot of Drama + Hentai/Ecchi Scenes = Formula For Win.:LOS
Definetly recommended.

Yes. That and Mordred being a Virtue Gundam.
Anyway, this thread is in a Code Geass section so I doubt that the majority of the posters would not recommend this series. So yeah, join the Rebellion.

S1? Hell yes. It's currently 3rd in my top 10 and is truly an amazing series that EVERY anime fan should check out at some stage. Unless you HATE anything with mecha action, watch it.
S2? On the evidence of the EP1-3, it's going to be an inferior repeat of what happened in S1. Although you'll see it no matter what if you watch S1, S2 looks likely to be a disappointing sequel to the outstanding first series.

Too early to make such a generalization. That's just three episodes.

I said "on the evidence of EP1-3". I wasn't stating that it will 100% be a failure; I was saying it will be if it continues in the same manner.

I recommend it. Assuming you can stand CLAMP's designs and look past some of the most ridiculous plot devices.
Aside from those two things, CG is really damn good.

It's good in my opinion.
It's one of those series that I love, and I think is really well done...but I can easily see how someone could dislike it. Odds are it will be one of those series that you either really like or really dislike.

Well, do you actually believe that the rest of the episodes will be like Episodes 1-3? It is possible, and I'll agree with you if that's the case. But given the fact how Season 1 was handled, I'd like to place some faith. :)

Haha. Yeah, most first impressions would be like that, but after a while the character style grows on you. I don't know about everyone else, but I've come to love their style. Besides, most of their characters have meat where it counts. :zaru

Yeah tbh I really like Clamp's designs. They're different than usual anime, and very stylish. Yeah they may be sorta feminine and such, but you have to remember that Clamp's artists are all girls :amuse

My only problem with CLAMP's character designs is that characters look really thin and long-legged. Even the buffiest of characters.
