red pill or blue pill

In the Matrix the choice was given to either take the red pill or the blue pill.
The red pill will show the harsh but true reality while the blue pill will continue showing a false but easy to swallow truth. I know people who say they would have taken the blue pill but I do not think I could knowingly accept a lie. What are your views on this?

In fact, i don't know which pill i'd choose... It's pretty situational as said earlier. Truth isn't exactly the most important thing for me... The most important thing is the enjoy the unique life i have... If i think i can get more out of the matrix, then it'll be the matrix and blue pill. If there was a loved one back in the matrix... I know i'd take the blue pill...

If i had nothing stopping me, than i'd perhaps choose the unknown... I don't really see it as a harsh reality though...

That really is my answer though. I do not want to live in complete blind ignorance, oblivious to the happenings of the world. I'd like to know when the alien, nazi, Godzilla takeover begins instead of being told "nothing to see here, move along." (blue pill) However, I also do not want to know everything. I believe that the more truth that you seek, the more pain you will feel. Because this truly is a fucked up world (red pill).

I think we owe it to ourselves to keep a balanced medium, therefore to take the purple pill. We should not seek to be ignorant. But for the sake of our sanity and loved ones, we shouldn't drive ourselves crazy with the truth.

Take the Red pill . Trust me , I actually know from personall experience that its a better choice . Of course I wasnt faced with a literal "red pill or blue pill" situation that led me into some bettle between man and machine , BUT I was faced with a choice on whether or not to seek the truth . One path would lead me to a simple life of believing that I had all the answers and that there was no need to worry about the end because I was covered and going to heaven ... the blue pill . The other choice ( The One I picked ) would lead me to things that I could not deny , things that proved that everything I was raised for and taught since I was born was a lie .

The "blue pill" most certainly would have been the easier choice , but when I look at what my life would have been if I chose it I realise that its more then just the whole "living a lie" complication but that when you are living your life in the control of a false world you cannot think for yourself . Your mind is trapped in a box of fluff . The key is that you are not free . I find myself questioning things much more often now and I often think in ways almost nobody in this world thinks like . Its much harder because I am my own mind now . There is no "Objective source" or so called "true path" in my way now . I could not possibly imagine going back to live in the haze of life I was living , because as I see it a false life is worse then death could ever be .

Well, the question is, in the end, very simple: do you surrender to the machines because they pay well?

It doesn't have much to do with truth or lies.

As for my answer, I don't know :P. It depends on the conditions of the deal. Obviously, if the red pill comes with super-powers, and the blue pill with monotony, then the choice is easy. If the red pill comes with a certain death and the blue pill with eternal happiness, the choice is easy - too.

You've just sinched it for me. I'd take the red pill. Not only do I know the truth, but if I took the blue pill, I'd be knowingly making myself forget something. I hate that feeling when you know you've forgotten something. And to be conscious of the moment right before you forget it and do nothing (or in this case do something) is like keeping a secret from yourself. I won't do it.

What is reality? Answer that and then we'll talk- you can't, it is meaningless. I don't mean that to sound as obnoxious as it does, but seriously, choosing the red pill has no benefits, its like enlisting in the army. What exactly is the problem with the matrix anyway? It seems to me that people only choose the red pill because they want to experience something different, which ultiamtely leads them into further unhappiness.

Bottom line- the real does exist in some form, but it is impossible to fully come into contact with. There is always some mediator, usually language, that keeps us from experiencing "reality." Instead of experiencing events or things as they are we see them as catagorical discriptions, ie their linguistic containers. Thus, even when you choose the red pill and step into "the real" it is simply another matrix. It makes you feel like you have freed yourself, however, which makes true resistance impossible. This paradox makes forgetting and ignorance better than willfully subjecting oneself to more confusion and disappointment without accomplishing anything.
