There's enough Rukia vs. Orohime or whichever. But i want to know if you guys think that Rukia is going to end up with Renji or Ichigo? Cuz it's obvious that they both have something going on with Rukia, and i think the romance bit is more evident in Renji's case.

Boy there was like a huge battle of who gets to be with Rukia after the last arc in the manga. But I picked Ichigo. Reason: If there is such thing as relationships developing Inoue will most likely end up with someone other than Ichigo. Tatsuki for reasons unknown appears to be tomboyish and have little or no deep feelings towards Ichigo. Renji is a friend and has been for a long time. If he says the magic words then yeah I will see him and her happening but I just do not think he will be able to say those magic words.

As much as I love IchiRukia, I see their relationship as being incredibly odd...
Sure, there might be feelings coming from Ichigo's end, but Rukia strikes me as wanting to be more of a mother to Ichigo than a girlfriend. It's bizarre. I adore the couple, but only because the relationship runs a big chance of being seriously fucked up, and that makes it more interesting.

Anyways, its been a while since i read the manga but the physical communication between rukiaxichigo and rukiaxrenji are so different. IIRC, you usually see renji with an arm around her shoulder, always holding her close, etc etc. But for RukiaXIchigo, the only scene i remember of them 'together' was him holding her like a soccer ball underneath his arm after saving her from the flamin' phoenix of d00m. :P


I usually don't try to overanalyze stuff like this but it's just too blatant. :xp

Neither in the end is my bet. Ichigo will eventually return to earth as he isnt dead yet. And we dont know how much rukia explicitly likes renji outside that they grew up togeather. Well, I can't really choose, because I like both pairing. Both of the pairing have a similar relationship. In both Renji and Rukia and Ichigo and Rukia, they argue and tease each other, and there's moments where they're serious and caring for each other. Also, Renji and Ichigo had no problem risking they're life for Rukia. (Well, Renji was weak on acting until Ichigo snapped it out of him.) They've both gotten stronger in order to save Rukia...

The main difference is that Renji and Rukia has a long history together and they're similar in age. But as someone already mentioned, Rukia being adopted into the Kuchiki family also caused some distances between Renji and Rukia. Also, Renji still don't have the guts to admit his feelings for her. However those things can be easily solved, which makes it'll easier for them to hook up. For Ichigo and Rukia their age differ and one of them is dead. Their situation is just too complicated for both of them to hook up. If you want drama, then Ichigo and Rukia pairing is going to get a lot of drama. Not to mention that Renji and Orihime might have problems with them pairing up, too.

Iunno, this whole thing is just too complicated! The only thing I'm sure of is that Renji has strong feelings for Rukia, but Rukia only seems to see Renji as a close friend -brother. (MANGA SPOILERS) Rukia had feelings for Kaien, and she sees Ichigo as Kaien, but I don't think she developed feelings for Ichigo as she did with Kaien. I think she looks at Ichigo for closures for her guilt. Also, Ichigo seems to have no real interest in women, yet... Oh, and Orihime likes Ichigo, but then there's Ishida. And what about Byakuya, lol? (Nevermind, he's mine!) How more complex this thing is going to get!

yes, this is why I believe Renji is better as a one nite stand than as a relationship. Renji is hot and all but my vote goes for Ichigo. Renji just doesnt have what it takes to make a girl happy. He let her down the first time and did absolutely nothing to save her from getting killed. Even if they did try to make this relationship work, it wont be a happy one. He just doesnt know how to make her happy...and they've known each other for so long.
On the other hand, it only took two months for Ichigo and Rukia to click. He travel to a place he didnt know how to, almost turned himself into a Hollow during the process, and got slash to death on a daily basis. And he did all this even after she told him he was a worthless human(she only said that to save his life.) But the thing is he understood her and believed in her. They believed in each other. Analysis:

Renji- He grew up with Rukia and from what I'm seeing so far... (anime watchers, these are spoilers) More like him for her, but not her for him.
His feelings are evolving from brotherly to something more romantic. Note how he staked his life to fight Byakuya around chapters 142-144 and nearly died, Hinamori's flashback on how he stopped fighting to go talk to Rukia,etc.

Rukia- treats Renji more like a brother. I'd agree, she's acting more weird and tenderly concerned for Ichigo and she even cried in ep. 17, giving the impression there was so much she couldn't hold back. Considering that she's been schooled not to be emotionally expressive (judging by her thinking reaction after Byakuya reads the decision pertaining to her execution in ep. 20)... that's a major jump. She probably likes Ichigo more than a friend, but doesn't know that yet.

Ichigo- He doesn't seem to be having particular preferences for any one character. In case you haven't watched ep. 41...
Even in the manga, note how he ran past Rukia and straight to Hanatarou first. Then they eventually argue, but it looks more like his usual style of arguing with anyone that exasperates his funnybone. And Rukia responds in kind.

IMHO, if Rukia were to end up with Renji, it would only happen if Ichigo had chosen someone else. And if she had no one else. So I think she'll end up alone.

Renji is like her brother man, they grew up together for way too long. Basically they probaly essentially lived together, since they were both street orphans, so they grew up like brother and sister. Man if they lived together since childhood, this would kill any possibility or a relationship. It would be such an ackward transition. Who the heck lives with a person since growing up and dates them later on, Woody Allen adopted daughter? It's almost like incest man.

As I mentioned in another forum, if it hasn't happened a long time ago it never is going to happen. Rukia is the type of girl that although slow, would have made her move already.

Renji probaly would have made his move as well too. Besides the initial Ichigo defeat, Renji hasn't shown the same motivation to save Rukia as Ichigo. His fights with Byakuya, although Rukia based are also fights that he wants to win for himself as well(He alway wanted to get stronger than him, so he trained everyday).

Man that picture almost disgusts me, because to me those two are brother and sister. Episode 32 seemed like a brother and sister growing up together. I felt no romance whatsoever between the two. Were their longing looks towards each other? Not really, just two people looking out for each other like siblings do.

Renji is like the older brother, inspect Ichigo, see if he is a good guy for his sister and approves or not. He hasn't been particularly Jealous of Rukia having feeling for Ichigo. He hasn't shown jealousy at all.

You can say that Renji is the type of guy who just wants the best for Rukia whether or not it is in his arms or not, but still she has not reciprocated those feeling at all toward him. Also the guy initially wanted to scoop her up from her happy Earth life and was being pretty selfish to bring her back in the manner he did.

Plus the competitive relationship between Byakuya and Renji to me seems like Renji wants to become the bigger and stronger protective brother. Like I want to be useful again, and not second to this guy(and be replaced by him). It doesnt feel like I want to get stronger than this brother guy and prove my worth so I can date his Sister. He doesn't need to prove anything in that sense because Rukia and her brother never had the strongest relationship to begin with.

If Rukia had brotherly feeling for Ichigo on the other hand I doubt she would have missed Ichigo that much. Sibling love is strong buy it doesn't have the self preservation causing emotion that romantic love has. Romantic love is love that means future happiness and the potential for it for eternity. Sibling love doesn't stir any of this because brother and sisterly love doesn't necessarily increase in the future and make you more happy, otherwise why would you move out and get more distant with your family.

Ichigo has yet to show the same level of feelings because he needs to mature a little more. He still has shown more feelings towards Rukia in the last few month than he did with Orhime ever. Plus I think it would be nice for her to get with Ishida. Ishida coldness contrast nicely with Orihime warmth. I also believe it was fate they landed in soul society together.

I don t see any way that tatsuki or whatever girl getting with Ichigo because they are both way to cold people and don t compliment each other well. They are too similar. The relationship would get too quiet and boring really quickly. It would be like that dead atmosphere.

I just don't see any of the chemistry between Rukia and Renji on a romantic level. And seeing those two kiss and passionate like that is Yuck.

I'll agree with this statement. Renji may love Rukia... but I've never seen anything to make me think Rukia thinks of him as other than sibling rivalry.
(I also think the Ishida/Inoue pairing is random and conflict filled enough to work)

We've got a looong ways to go in this series yet, I'm sure we'll get plenty of other interesting characters to pair up with our favorites. While I don't really like the Ichigo/Rukia pairing, it's the most believable at the moment - even if Ichigo hasn't figured it out yet. ;-)

It's powerful and passionate and together they'll destroy Aizen and save the universe, but in the end they are from separate worlds and can't stay together. When Ichigo is 65, Rukia will be the SS-equivalent of 20, so their relationship is doomed in the long term.

Urahara didn't inspire Ichigo; he gave him hope that he could go and save her, which is different. Being from a different world, Ichigo thought he couldn't go to Soul Society.

And on the famous panel where Ichigo and Renji swear to save Rukia on their souls, it's Renji who is remembering Ichigo's strong desire to save her; the fact that he decides to copy the vow is a give away of how much Ichigo did inspire him and allowed him to redeem himself for Rukia.

By the way, since I'm posting there, I saw a lot of people who said: Rukia and Renji have a long history together. And right now, that is one of the biggest problems. Because they only have a childhood history together, she considers him as a childhood friend, a nearly brother. Beside that, once she was in the Kuchiki family, he didn't talk with her. Which means roughly 40+ years (nearly 50 if we follow Byakuya's story). While during this time, she fell in love with Kaien and had to kill him; he wasn't here when she was at the bottom and that is partly why I really prefer IchiRuki over RenRuki.

I enjoyed the fact that his journey was one of reconciliation for Renji. It's actually pretty sad that he could nothing after he made the mistake of misjudging on what was best for Rukia, but try and work his way to the top and "take her back". I have no idea what the redheaded eyebrow freak was thinking when he thought that would be the way to do it, but in his defense after becoming vice captain at least he would be able to talk to her again without status being a problem...The guy was a jerk and made up for it...
I had some of the same thoughts as you, but I forgave Renji for all of that in chapter 173; standing to defend you. It was enough for some and not enough for others. :amuse

I forgave Renji around the end of the Soul Society arc, it's hard to hold a grudge against a character as awesome as his, but because of this passivity and defeatist attitude I do favour Ichigo over him for Rukia, but they're both wonderful for her, I'd be content with either (or both, OT3!)

I favor Renji because he's more vocal towards his feelings towards Rukia. Pairing debates and stuff aside. I just prefer the things he says about her and their chemistry...no brother/sister for me. Not with Ichigo nor Renji.

Of course it'll never happen but it's fun to think about XD The wonderful thing about Ichigo/Rukia/Renji is that they all get along and they all respect each other. Renji has never displayed jealousy towards Ichigo, despite knowing that they have a very special relationship, actually, he has been very secure in regards to his relationship with Rukia post-Soul Society.

Also, aside from the obvious chemistry that Rukia has with Renji and Ichigo individually, Renji and Ichigo themselves have a great relationship and their own chemistry. They have a friendly rivalry and understanding of each other that makes them work well together. So really, Ichigo/Rukia/Renji is delicious, somewhat functional fun as an OT3 :P

Gotta agree with you there. They have seemingly volitile relationships but they're all so good natured and great with each other. Renji and Ichigo also seem to put up with Rukia setting them straight every now and again. She seems like the gal to tell them when one of them is being a moron. Two of my favorite Ichigo,Renji and Rukia scenes involve Renji holding Ichigo while Rukia smacks him into shape post SS and in HM when they both give him his seriously needed punch in the face. :amuse
