Anyway, I was wondering the diffrent ways people enjoy music.

I myself usually am lying down on my sofa or floor when I listen to music, sometimes I pace back and forth through my room if I'm in a hurry and want to listen to one more song.

So your turn now. Are you one of those freaky metal people that headbangs alot or do listen to music while you do something else (homework/work), maybe you dance? :blink

I pretty much listen to music as much as I can.. On the bikeride to school ( thank you iPod! ) at home when I'm behind the comp, or, when I'm feeling lazy/not so good, I just lay on my bed and let the songs shuffle.

i usually listen to music all the time lying somewhere, ground, sofa, bed, stairs (somewhere in the streets...)
but i like too when it is dark, there i have the feeling that the music fills the entire room, and that it "speaks" to me.
do a lot of headbanging too.... sometimes....

Man you're exacly like me, I usually hear when somone is coming down the stairs and I quickly turn on the light (I live in the basment floor of the house).

Anyway I listen to all kinds of music, I try to stay as openminded as possible. But I do have three favorite bands that could tell what kind of music I enjoy.
They are, A Silver Mt. Zion, Radiohead and Nirvana. But I listen to many more bands/artists, thesa are just the ones that are most important to me at the moment.

So are you gonna answer your own question? What do you listen to?

I listen to music pretty much non-stop, except at work when I'm cooking on line.

Anyhoo, at the computer, walking around, sleeping, reading, it doesn't matter, I like to have music surrounding me at all times.

I am a big fan though, of a dark room, an 'altered mind', headphones and the window open to let a breeze in..

My headphones never leave my ears. So any surronding is okay for me. though , while listening to post rock, folk rock or chillout/lounge, I usually enjoy lazying on the couch and reading a book.

How the hell are you able to read a book and listen to music. I've tried, but it always ends with me missing three chapters of a book, or something.

I love books+music, it just adds to the flavour of the book.

Infact certain series/books are permanently associated with certain albums for me because of that.

It depends what type of music it is. If it's all everything apart from Soca/dancehall, I sit on my chair, sofa or lie on ym bed. When dancehall/soca come on, the best way to enjoy it is to get up and dance! :D *wynding* ;)

for me it is not only books, but also places.
i use to travell a lot, so when i listen to one particular song i remember places where i was and so one, no need of a camera for sightseeing, all i need is music

I myself can't focus on the book if there is music in the background. Mostly because I start focusing on the music and how it sounds.

BTW moe.

Don't get me wrong I like listening to music when I'm going to school and taking walks, I especially like to listen to Radiohead while taking a walk in an urban enviorment, it's just magic. But I can't read shit if there is any kind of music nearby.

moe: Yes weekends. Best time to listen to music. Tho I have a problem. I can't go to sleep until I've listened to some Sliver Mt. Zion, or Godspeed.

Well, shush, that's my line! Still a sweet thread, soo..

Contrary to Davey's wishful thinking I don't enjoy my music naked in front of my webcam, but also not in some detached state of my mind.
It usually just plays in the background, while I'm working on something. And just like moe the only situation in which I'm able to multitask is book + music.

I also read to music occasionally, though when I do so it's often classical, jazz or post-rock. Mingus is a requirement when I cook by the way, and Lekman when I bake.

Mostly though, just when I'm in the train, at the PC and sometimes in bed when I'm getting to sleep. I get pretty introspective in the time inbetween getting into bed and falling asleep

A) Just after I wake up, while brushing my teeth in the bathroom. I blast it on my computer in the next room, so the sound reaches me. This is often accompanied by embarrassing dancing and my use of the toothbrush as a microphone.

B) While walking down a road. Especially enjoyable during summer or early autumn (early in the morning and also just before sunset).

I listen to music almost every waking moment of my life. I really couldn't imagine life without it.

My ideal environment for music listening depends entirely upon the genre.
You can actually tell what genre of music I'm listening to when I go for one of my "head clearing" walks. If it's something uptempo or intense, you'll see my walking speed double. The slower stuff makes me walk like a sleepwalker, and I will wander off the path.

I tend to listen to whole albums and just lie in my bed or sofa and relax...

Being a metal-fan, concerts are the best way to enjoy music. It's not often, but when I do go to a concert to see (and hear) my favorite bands, it's always very satisfying and something that I will remember.

I enjoy mostly while I watch my DVDs, read and mostly I would practice dance moves with them. When you listen to music and dance, you can feel them into your body and that's why you dance to them. That's the best flavour of music.

Well I usually like to start by cracking all the windows in my apartment for exactly 5 minutes, lets the stale air out and the fresh air in. Then I shut them and light some scented candles, pour myself a glass of Merlot, have a wank, and then sit back and let the music suck me in.

I enjoy music the most when I'm holding a guitar and play along the song I listen to while pretending that I perform with the artist on stage, with the right notes and tempo of course. If there's only restricted movement available, I'll just tap my hands on whatever's available following the drums.

Next would be lying down still with my mind blank. Music also helps me in my studies. Effective way of killing boredom.

Well I guess I'm the weirdest here.:hurr

As for me, I enjoy listening to music when:

1) If my class is like totally effin' boring...I'll switch on my iPod...secretly of course and usually I seat at the back, waaay back.
2) Before I go to bed/sleep...this is the situation where I like the most :iria
3) Whenever I go to some destination alone (on train, bus etc.)

So basically that's it. Oh and I can't listen to music when I'm with books, even though I really wanted to try that...heh :sag

I listen to and enjoy music at any time and in any conceivable situation. Whenever I leave the house, it's rare for me to do so without my iTouch and a set of headphones. And, if there isn't a film on my television, then I usually have some sort of musical accompaniment to my daily life playing whenever I'm at home. However, places that I have had particularly nice listening experiences include:

1) Whilst exercising, particularly jogging or walking at local parks during the summer. It always feels great to get my body fully occupied and mobile in a way that frees my mind and makes me more open to what's going on around me. The music can do everything from color this experience to motivate it completely.
2) At museums and exhibits. Whether it's walking through an aquarium or looking at the works displayed by the traveling Louvre, listening to music at these times both enhances the power of what's being heard and what's being seen for me.
3) During long drives. With the acoustics of my car, the sound is a lot nicer than at my apartment or just using headphones. And, the isolated atmosphere really helps me to deeply immerse myself.

Honestly, any place or time that I can; homework, walking, working, cleaning, reading, internetting and even nothing at all. It's generally with headphones ('cause mine are awesome <3), but if I can get away with it, on my room speakers, which are quite nice. Sometimes I use it as ambience or something to help me work or whatever, but just as much I just listen to the music laying on my bed or something; that's the best way to experience it.
