The Law of Ueki

[Steel Guardian]

Has anyone watched this new anime? The plot:

"Junior High School student Ueki Kosuke has a strange ability: he can turn anything that he believes to be garbage into a tree. This ability was given to him by his homeroom teacher, a man named Kobayashi. Ueki manages to keep his ability a secret until one day when his classmate, Hori Ai, finds out about it. .Hori initially had been following him in order to debunk his true character, but begins to help him when she sees the sacrifice he must make to use his talent..

Ueki soon finds himself embroiled in a battle of 100 participants, one of which is his teacher, Kobayashi. Each of the participants in the tournament must choose a champion from their students and give them a special ability, as Kobayashi had to Ueki. The abilities that were chosen, such as the skill to turn a towel into iron, give the student receiving it a better chance of winning the tournament. The participants in the tournament must then make their student champions fight each other. Whoever student wins will become the next "god", and. his student will receive a "blank ability" that can become any ability at all.."

Meh. Very cliche plot. I'm giving it my standard "watch 10 Episodes, Continue or Stop" if it doesn't get interesting.

Right now, I'm up to Episode 7 which actually was good in my opinion. Episode 6 was also good.

I watched two episodes yesterday, and I intend on watching about four episodes (my usual trial number) before deciding whether it's worth watching or not.

It reeks of Gash Bell, but the difference that I like here is the powers of the main characters are more original. I mean, plant growth powers aren't a new thing or anything, but usually it's something given to a side character that has one appearance or something. In this show, the powers commonly found on main characters (that fire guy in episode two, for example) are given to one-shot characters. Plus, I like the God in this. So pimp...

I would watch till episode 7 before you decide. But man only watching four episodes, if i did that i might not have watched FMA and Mai HiME and both of which are amazing.

The Episode 10 RAW was released and was the best episode I seen so far. I'm sticking with this! :cool

I've only seen up to ep. 7. Seems fairly interesting. Nothing great so far, but not bad either.

Naruto's first 7 episodes beats it completely though. The powers are also...weird.

Yeah. Things really started getting better once he decided to fight Roberto's Jyuudan. It's not one of the best I have seen in 2005 but it's still fairly enjoyable. Haven't seen Mori for a couple of eps now. Where the hell is she?

ueki decided to fight the robert's 10 on his own, so mori didn't come along or they'd be suspicious of her =P but she comes back around episode 16 or 17

The show is really unique in its own rights but it isn't on my priority list. I'll finish watching other animes before I continue on this one... (I'm at episode 12 if I remember correctly)

The begining's a bit tedious, but it gets better in the later episodes.

Yes, Fansubbing is still in production. However, the fansubbers are starting to get behind, Episode 29 just aired in Japan.

Patience is a virtue, they may be planning to have a double release or more.

ueki is startng to get REALLY REALLy good. i just saw episode 26, it's just plain amazing. better then any anime i've ever seen. it started off not so good, but really starts going after episode 21. You guys gotta watch this anime.

I know this is probably a frequent question asked for most animes. But is there a set amount of episodes? or an estimation?
Since its around 30 right now, is it one of those 50 episodes series', or this this a never-ending/going along with manga kinda series like Naruto, Inuyasha and Bleach.

Honestly, the only reason I'm DLing an episode of this is because I read the theme song is the song by Hitomi Shimatani called Falco. I like that song by her and didn't know it was from an anime so I DL one episode just to see.
In fact thats the same reason I picked up Bleach, b/c I found out Rie Fu and HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR did music for it and I'm glad I did because Bleach is currently my favorite anime.

But since people are saying its pretty good and there's even a thread about it, I might pick it up. Although I currently do not have room for a on-going anime on my HD I was just wondering if any information has been released about the number of episodes there would be.

Would someone please tell me where I can get " [Shinsen-Subs] The Law of Ueki 30 [32AC3BCF].avi" from. Shinsen has had to take down their bittorrent section because of Funimation interjection. I have been trying to download from their irc channel for the past 2 days, but I haven't had any luck. There are just too many people trying to download from their irc servers.

Thanks for the link BlueCheese. I have a lot of issues with IRC... mainly due to my bandwidth shaping. BT is my first choice.

I guess since a lot of SHS's projects have had to be dropped, I guess it means we may see more Ueki than usual.

And yes, the manga continues after this. The last episode finishes off the 16 volumes of the Law Of Ueki manga. But then the manga continues under a new title; The Law of Ueki Plus.

Seen as there are currently no plans for there to be an animated version of Plus, I hope a group scanlates it (like me; if I can find a translator and get a volume 1 in my hands (I found a torrent, but it's not seeded)).

So yes, I really like this anime and hope either there will be an animated version of Plus or someone will be able to scanlate it.

Edit: And of course episode 46+ will be subbed, Ssj3_Goku. It's still an active project at Shinsen.

only thing I didn't like was how everybody has the same heavenly powers, like the pick and the shield and all that. Rather if ueki's were more unique (obviously each person's had a twist, which was cool, but still)

and they should have given sano a better level2 imo. His kind of sucked, even though he loved it

show was really good though. The voice for mori was amazing too, just the different intonations she'd have when she'd say ueki's name, especially when she was worried...was like music lol. Too cute.

Law of Ueki was mad good! watched this quite awhile ago and i thought i might not like it...but the combat and powers kept me hooked! I also liked Ueki's atittude on life (even though its cliche) and Robert and Robert's Ten were badass
