If she hadn't been so shallow about who she liked, then perhaps I wouldn't have hated her so much, and continue to hate her.

At the same time, I'm a rabid Ino fan girl. While she was shallow in the first part as well, I think that she was playing the 'real girl' role, not Sakura. She merely told Chouji to lose some weight so he could get a girlfriend, or something like that. Sakura barely even knew Sasuke and wanted to give up everything she had for him.

I thought it was really disgusting that she would go through such great lengths for a guy because of his looks and skills. We can say that Sasuke probably didn't confide in her much at all, since she only found out about Itachi three years after Naruto.

:hurr the theme of her character growth would be thrown out of the window that's for sure..since she'd already like someone not because they were popular or particularly gifted...there'd be no reason to emphasize on her growing into a mature individual since that's basically what she'd be doing already...
