At the end of the trailer... Was that Mugi-clan vs Whitebeard?! How the he...? Wha...? It's gonna be interesting, but isn't it a bit too early? I know that movies = "filler" = doesn't happen in the story but anyway... It's just strange.

This makes sense in the context of the manga since it's been mentioned that they're nearing Marine HQ

I was gonna ask about Movie 9. So they did another poor series rehash/recap for that movie too? Makes 8 and 9 a bit sily imo.

I'm thinking that you're unlikely to stay a Marine long if you go around kicking down your superiors doors and shouting stuff at them. Anyway aren't suits a mark of being CP9 or WG agents rather than regular Marines. I'm thinking disguise ala Ace in his cover story rather than them being Marines.
If Lufy were a Marine at least half his crew wouldn't have joined as being a pirate is important to them.

I suppose it's feasible that there's a sea off limits to Marines or hidden from them somehow but seeing as Luffy's actually talking face to face with the Marines one would have to assume they know perfectly well where this place is and Luffy is certainly not ready for a threat the Marines can't handle. The only way it could work is if the WG's engineering Luffy into doing something they don't want to be seen doing and this scene happens after Luffy finds out but even then barging into a room full of Va's is asking to get your ass kicked.

First, I would like to give a big shout-out and thank you to Greg (http://www.apforums.net/member.php?u=38) for, at great personal risk to himself, obtaining this teaser trailer for all of us who weren't fortunate enough to see it in Japan at the end of the ninth film. Thank you, Greg.
Second, I don't want to get too excited about it now because it's only a teaser trailer, which unfortunately means that nothing we see in it now may appear in the actual film by the time it's done. With that said, holy fucking shit do I want to see this movie! They're wearing their omfg super hot mafia inspired colour spread suits! Yea I also hope those scenes will be on the Movie next year. But then, for the first time, Oda wrote the ENTIRE story for the next movie. Probably those scenes was already given by Oda (w/c already has the story planned) to TOEI and will be left intact on M10. Hmm, I hope so!
It'll be cool also if Oda would made it canon material/or draw it in a manga perspective. Ah well, I have high hopes and expectations for the movie next year!

It could be a lot of things, really, though I doubt he's the Pirate King yet unless this takes place in some kind of future-verse, which is entirely possible. In any case, the reason why Luffy looks so much taller is because it's a perspective shot; Luffy's standing in front of everyone else and the shot was 'taken' in front of and below him, which makes him look bigger/taller. The awesome, awesome clothes help with his regal bearing as well, methinks.

I think he may be a former Marine, myself. What little we've seen of his style of clothing makes me think of the Marines' whites and the place he's sitting looks like the typical, Yakuza-style, upper level Marine setup as well. Plus, his name would fit with the naming convention for the Marine Admiralty that we've seen so far: Aokiji the "Blue Pheasant", Akainu the "Red Dog" and Kizaru the "Yellow Monkey".

Well, Oda wrote it but I don't think that necessarily makes it canon because it is still a film and not part of the actual manga. Who knows; the film may even be an AU of sorts, or something. Really though, at this point we don't know all that much about anything; all we can do is guess. :)
