This episode has excellent, awesome, terrific animation. .....Finally!

It's the same style as, for example, the one during G8 when the crew bust the Merry out of the Marine dock. Fantastic. And Zoro looks good. Yay. Cindry's secret past is revealed, Nami, Chopper and Usoop run around a lot, finally meeting the host of Brooke's soul. The rest of the crew meet the ghosts(with really cute voices) and zombies in a brief but sweet action sequence. Sanji teasing Zoro about his handling of the ghost and his conversation with Franky are hilarious. Funny, beautifully animated. Awesome. The only problem was the earthquake right when the show started, prompting earthquake messages on the screen. So raws will likely contain them too. And it looks like the great animation does not continue to next week.

Looks like this episode covers only a little more than one manga chapter. It's hard to say because it goes out of order, showing some extra Nami/Usopp/Chopper stuff before some of the stuff with everyone else which'll be shown in the next episode.

I got a good laugh out of sanji's teasing of zoro's behavior due to the ghost attack. Luffy and the gang throwing down against the zombie pack was pretty good too, especially that shot of luffy cracking his knuckles and getting veiny (pumped up)

oh, and franky's reaction to being called a perv :laugh Thats about how i react when people say that to me

Looking back, the amazing thing is that this episode barely covered one chapter but wasn't horribly drawn out (Naruto) or contained a lot of filler. How did they manage that? I know that taking the first 5 minutes with the introduction/recap helps, but they've always done that.

I think Thriller Bark - this part of it especially - just has an exceptionally rich source manga. A ton of stuff happens which is difficult to follow manga-only, and it's nice that the anime makes it easier to track.

Its because of how much materal Oda can cram into one chapter.

With Naruto and Bleach you get a lot of panels with nothing but people standing there not saying anything.

Here's something that I always wondered about. If Oz used Gear third would he turn into a chibi Oz, or will his body stay the same with Moria's power, but have chibi Luffy voice?

Quoted for truth .... I think I mentioned in this in the first OP Vs Naruto post I submitted .... there is so much going on in OP that they dont have to resort to cheap time gaining tactics and make it into a soap opera like Naruto.

TB has a lot of potential to bring in the whole Haunted island theme into the anime ... each arc has a different feel and this is brought out better in the anime ....

They could have done away with that recap IMO ... it does gain time but I wouldnt be too concerned if they added 5 more mins of funny filler

I have a nearly 2 week vacation coming up.

Im planning on sitting down and rewatching OP from Ep 1 right up to its current ep (343 by the time i start, hopefully). And did i mention i plan on doing this straight, w/o any rest? im pretty sure by the time im done, and with the sake's help that ill be drinkig, i'll think that i AM a devilfruit of some kind :laugh

Past 2 eps have had to be some of the best ive enjoyed so far. highlights being : the zombies going from slow to fast in ep 341 / luffy pushing the zombie back into the ground / the negative ghosts and their effect on franky, luffy and zoro.
