I think the legal issues FUNi had with 4Kids have been settled... yeah, I'm pretty sure they have by now.

SERIOUSLY doubt it. Toei DVD's (4Kids) have all been canned, so it would seem they have finally handed over the rights of the first episodes to Funimation.

And the FUNi ppl seem very devoted to staying true to the Japanese version of OP as well as pleasing the fans. Calling the Skypiea arc "season 1" would be in direct oppositions to both those things.
