I don't think I saw that one...It might have been the "Riddle" one...I don't know...I remember at the beginning that they met each other by what seemed to be a waterfall and one of them was sitting on a rock near the edge and the other joined them...And then I think Tenten said something like, "I haven't seen you in a while...Since we're both Jounin we keep getting sent on separate missions..." but that's just based off of what I remember...Oh, and then I remember Neji sticking his hand out to offer to help Tenten up or take her somewhere....What was that?

That's from the "Best Friends" doujin. I didn't think that was OOC. That's actually one of my favorite doujins cause I think it's true to both of their characters. I think the dialog between them was done very well. And the scenes were great as well. My favorite dialog is from a different doujin though, 命短し恋せよ乙女. It was really sweet. I think she said the right thing at the right time, and I think that's her best quality.

Neji x Tenten: It took me awhile to get into this, because I am a huge yaoi fan. (I only changed my mind because I actually read Blooming Cosmo's posts. Thank you. XD) Het is not my thing. In fact, the only hetero ships I like are NaruHina and recently - this one. (aside from RenjixRukia in Bleach, but that's because they have history) I found that Tenten understood Neji a great deal in Chuunin. While Neji puts up a cold front, I believe that if he were to open up to someone, it would be Tenten. Why? I'm honestly not sure. I just have a feeling. If any "minor" pairings were to occur from the Rookie 12, NejiTen, in my opinion, will be one of them.

I think you said it well though and that point of understanding you made was good. I feel they understand eachother, better now than before. I think when they first met, Tenten had an understanding of him on the surface. And when it came to deeper things, I don't think she was ready to handle it. As time went on, and they both developed due to their team interaction, the communication between them became better. Now I think the understanding has gone beyond the surface and they can now catter to eachother's needs, even without having to utter a word [manga;water prison scene].

But I do definitely agree about the opening up thing. At this point in time, I think their communication is solid, and I don't see a reason why Neji would keep anything bottled up. He has an outlet. And Tenten's there for him. It all works out nicely. :amuse

BTW... I've been out of the FC for so long! One day my firefox client stopped working for this FC (even though it worked for the main one) and I thought maybe it was a fluke. Those cards were made by the producers (or whatever you call them) of Naruto, right? Or something that directly involves any of the Naruto crew worker cast thingies? If so, it's items like these where it totally just spells out "Canon" for me...Why would Kishi send out cards like that for two people who a LOT of people ship as a pairing and not make them canon?! How?! If you have an explanation for this, then by all means, go ahead and tell me because as long as my brain functions the way it does without an explanation, I'm going to assume that Kishi is giving out hints about this pairing being canon....>8l

Oh, and also, in one the the Naruto games (on of the Ultimate Ninjas I think it was), Tenten's says something like "I'm here to help, Neji!" or something along those lines...I don't know, but I'm about to explode...>8[

As far as canon goes, it's why I love NejiTen, but I have a lot of fun doing AU. It's a pretty good challenge since the trick is to place them in an alternate setting and situation, yet still keep them in character as they would be in the central universe.

Not to mention I'll be doing most AU's for awhile. ^_^

I'm not getting my hopes up super high for further Tenten development, but if she were to get a fight in an upcoming arc...even if it is with her team, that would be badass. :nuts There is always hope that Kishimoto decides to follow up on some of the prompts he's already given Tenten. It would be nice to see a female in Naruto kick some serious ass. She has all the potential in the world, and I think that she could definitely deliver a great fight if just given the chance. It all comes down to Kishimoto though. Long distance fights are hard to draw like was mentioned in Toboe's awesome essay. But maybe he'll use short distance fighting instead. Who knows. I wouldn't bet money on it, but meh...it's a nice thought. As long as I get to see Team Gai again soon, I'll be happy. I miss them so in the manga. :cry

It's not that Nejihina fans hate Tenten; it's that I think they simply like/appreciate Hinata more. I think this is a pretty general trend among all fandoms, if you've got a triangle ship.

Oh geez. If you put Tenten = flirty, then Ino = Flirty squared. She tried flirting/seducing Neji in the forest. Openly. With a hair flourish. At least Tenten just kept her thoughts to herself and was honest, whereas Ino, if she doesn't actually like Neji in that way (and I'd guess she probably doesn't), she faked it. In fact, where was the flirting on Tenten's part? XD It was an internal thought! If mental thoughts automatically puts you as a flirt, then...I kind of worry for the general populace and their "dirty thoughts..."

(Also, on the accuracy thing...it's a combination of calculation and body memory, due to the sheer speed and consistancy. Took archery and did some riflery; know at least the basis of this kind of stuff. ;) )

I think I see those more then the pairing obsessed people who bash, but yeah...maybe I don't look at the same videos that others do, so I miss those comments. XDD Doesn't really bother me though. I had loads of fun making it one of the crackiest, silliest pieces I've done (for a while) so I hope it'll entertain. :D I often find that AU settings allow me to loosen up and wallow in the fluff, general crack and wackiness, as opposed to Nessie's AU's, which always impress me with how well thought out they are. Which reminds me, Nessie, the "babe" and "groovy"-ness of your latest American AU had me grinning my head off. Fantastic work, as usual. :)

And this now makes 3 AUs from my favorite authors this week. :wtf

I looooooovvvvved it wildcatt. You made the courtroom less boring to me in that. And I honestly was worried about that cause I'm not much into law. Excellent. The added KibaIno worked out nicely too. XDD So sweet and fluffy in the end. Gah...how you guys manage to write them so perfectly under different settings is beyond me, but keep it up guys. You guys actually make me enjoy AUs. :omg

Yeah... same here :cry. WMM freezes everything, and then you lose whatever you were starting >.< . People who make the music videos usually have different programs, like Sony Vegas. (But that cost money... or download a trial. You can probably find some basic video editing program on the internet.)

That's why I thought it was interesting that you decided to do a version of that song in an AMV for NejiTen. Even if it was a short peak, it was amazing. Your timing with videos is top notch now, and the way you insert effects is also amazing.

Nicely said. I don't see the point in bashing either. I think it's better to just spend time enjoying what you like. :sag But that's just me. I prefer just sitting back, and reading NejiTen fics then getting involved in bashing.

Hey, guys! For the interested, Steve Staley (Neji's English dub voice actor) has a brief video up at Bang Zoom Entertainment's website. He doesn't talk about voicing Neji specifically, just voice acting in general. But I thought it would be fun (and he is credited as Neji in the vid).

Wonder if the video will mention anything about Steve's POV on Neji. Does anyone know if he ever made a thread in the dub voice section? I know that Tenten's VO, Danielle (I think), stopped by a while back. She was really cool. She's the only other VO aside from Yuri (that I know of at least) that actually keeps up with the manga and anime.

Also, I believe there is a Naruto marathon running on Cartoon Network today if anyone wants to catch the English versions of Neji and Tenten. (I've yet to watch the dubbed version actually. Does it hold up alright?)

I really should sit down and watch a dubbed episode. Alas, but I lack cable and would have to download it somewhere or go buy a DVD. I've heard other people say that about Naruto's voice as well and now I'm curious! (I will always love the sub to itty bitty pieces so it's hard to imagine the characters any other way.)

It seems like Tenten's dub in English is a wonderful voice actor. I wanna hear her sometimes... I always love Japanese version because Japanese has some kind of phrase that don't exist in other languange and it'll be hard to find something similar to that.

It's great to know that the voice actor in English is well picked, unlike here in my country. They're so out of character that it's better for you NOT to watch at all!!!! Oh sheesh... I guess it's relative in every country about the quality of the voice actor, eh? I haven't heard Tenten's voice yet but Neji's voice in my languange is... too... FEMININ!!!! I chocked when I heard it and... OMG! Please don't play it again!!!!!

I read your reasoning, and it really sparked my interest on a number of levels. It's probably this line that got me most:

I like post time-skip NejiTen better than pre time-skip. XD

I actually like both, and I tend to like the pre time skip portrayal of them a little more because we are introduced to their characters and their obvious flaws in this part. By being placed on Team Gai, both characters were given a challenge. Tenten was embarrassed of her team, while Neji found his teammates to be rather foolish. They were forced to work through these problems and they eventually learned to appreciate and respect the members on their team even though...they were different. Part I was definitely a necessary part in understanding and appreciating NejiTen because it's through their bond in team Gai that they actually were given a chance to interact. This issue that they had in common made it easy for them to just tend to talk and go together. I think understanding those dynamics makes the actions in Part II between Neji and Tenten more enjoyable.

I think what many people tend to miss is that it wasn't just Neji who changed. Tenten changed too. She does have development, but it's not as profound as many of the other characters because her issue wasn't as deep as many of the other characters. It involved her disbelief and awkwardness in her team mates. A big part of her character involves the relationships she has on her team because aside from that she does have confidence and determination in herself already. That's something she didn't need to spend panel time developing. So Kishimoto instead focused on her in relation to her team, and even dubbed her the 'balancing force'. She works well with both Lee and Neji because she's really adaptable to their needs. They are her boys, and she trains with them all, yet as you mentioned, her abilities seemed to be a good match for Neji's training specifically.

Kishimoto wrote them in such a way that when I first read through the chapters, it just seemed like Kishimoto designed them to be together. It was just never really said exactly, but it almost felt like it was there, but just hidden. And I remember just sitting and trying to figure it out. I think the difference between you and I though is that I didn't find it boring at first. It actually sort of drew me into it. I loved how their personalities worked well together, yet they were different enough not to keep the other bored.

Then Part II happened, and Team Gai was brought back in a whirl of flashy new moves and explosions. They worked together in such a wonderful way, and...then I saw the panel that really made me stick to the pairing. The water prison scene. Yes, I understand that many people argue that the scene is just Neji helping out Tenten. And there's a bunch of bullshit that fans tend to say about it, but in all honesty I think it sort of defines one of the things I like about the pairing the most. That they stand strong alone, but aren't afraid to lean on each other or ask for help when they need it. It was subtle, but it was enough to draw me into this whole crazy thing.

But yeah...just imagine my joy when that scene was animated in Shippuuden. :sag Hell, it was chock full of filler, but it just reminded me of the very reason I stated above.

And now that the ground work is laid, Kishimoto has a chance to develop it more if he chooses. It all really depends on when Team Gai returns, what they return for, and if a member ends up effected by the running plot.

I'm glad you found enough interest to at least join the FC. With a bit more understanding, I think you may grow to like it more. It all depends, but I hope you do.
