:omg I never expected this FC to complete 3 pages overnight!! *grumbles* I wanted to be here when we reached 300 pages *fuuu* Oh well, I was watching FFVII Advent Children...which is too awesome for words XD The graphics are amazing.....they're close to looking human-like, but as the creators said, they might as well be filming it with real actors ^_^ I haven't been keeping track with the FF series...but >_< I'm already obsessed with three of the characters....Tifa, Cloud, and YUFFIE!! :3 It was funny when Yuffie yelled, "Sexist! Sexist!" :laugh At the end I was puzzled on whether Cloud loved Tifa more than Aerith, because the film showed many scenes that may hint a relationship between the two...but gah....FF is always confusing.

It's not the only factor though.

There's an underlying trust and understanding that is good foundation for a solid relationship.

As well, Tenten fits perfectly for Neji. She's not someone who's overly hyper, but at the same time she's cheerful and cares about people. Emotionally she's fairly stable. Overall she's a fairly stable character.

Neji is a guy who meditates for fun. For some odd reason I get this feeling that he likes stability. And Tenten for all intents and purposes is the most stable character in the entire show.

.....omg...Auxu, you honestly amaze me. XD I wonder why such a thing was never mentioned before. Yes, Tenten is indeed a stable character. And such a character is indeed perfect for someone like Neji who has so many inner demons. Yes, some of the wounds have been treated, but I don't believe they have fully healed or if they did the scars are still there. Tenten wouldn't have any extra baggage to bring into the relationship and she'd be able to properly give him the attention he needs. Case and point, when she trained with him. She gave him her fully and undivided attention.

Neji is a character that needs stability. I think the fact that he meditates proves that much at least. Tenten could definitely fill the role of his stability. Very nicely said Auxu. =D *rep*

One major requirement of an expert marksperson is stability, which is what Tenten needs in order to be our weapons mistress. ^_~

Subtlely enough, in markmanship, no matter what the shot, there are a number of steps and processes a shooter must go through in order to get it right. Otherwise the shot will be ever so slightly off. So not only does Tenten have to be steady and calm in character in order to be so supremely accurate, she also, every single time she throws, follow the "rules" of shooting. The stance, the release, the follow through, etc....

...Kind of like Neji, in a way, with his strict adherence to his code.

Shannon-You should give Final Fantasy a try ^^ I thought it was confusing with the series being so old and stuff...so I'm just going to explain it a little. The first final fantasy was made in 1987, so as you can see FFVII (7) was made in 90's (1997), but the movie (FFVII) Advent Children, was made in 2005. It's really awesome n_n *squee* I stopped watching my brother play 'til FFIX (9), because he went to boarding school T_T

I read your fic, it was hilarious ^^ the commercials were amusing..
Of course, I would've prefered SasuSaku (joins rabid fangirls XD), but it was a good fanfic ^_^

Well, I doubt anyone liked the SakuLee factor, but I just can't write SasuSaku. xD I do it WAY too OOC. The first draft of that story I did about a year ago had SasuSaku, and when I was editing it I burst out laughing at the sheer OOC-ness and suckishness.

Thanks ^^ I never really liked my style of drawing, because every single one of my drawings has many similarities (the only differences being the change of character =.=), so they're all extremely repetitive. As for Gai and Lee in the bush, it was study hall in band, and I had no homework, so I decided to put it there for entertainment purposes ^^

I was rather upset about this chapter. Here I was waiting for Sakura to do something and she doesn't even do a thing but stare at Sasuke. She was going to do something, but never did. It was very disappointing especially when she was talking about how she was going to help Naruto bring Sasuke back in about every single chapter, but when the time came she did nothing. It just leaves me empty since I am such a huge Sakura fan. It irks me.

Sasuke is an awesome villian. I love him this way. He made his business clear. And whether this is a ploy to get them off his back so that they don't get meddled in his affairs...well whatever it is...he's doing a good job with whatever plan it is. XD

I wanted to sob when I saw Naruto's face. He looked like a kicked puppy. It was so sad. I have this bad feeling that something is going to happen in the next chapter which will lead to the setting off of so many events in the future.

So, now they need to go back to the village. There's no point continuing cause Sasuke totally pwned them. They'll either regroup and get Kakashi back on the team or get one of the groups to accompany them somewhere and possibly get in more plotline from the side of the Akatsuki. Possibly even that female Akatsuki member will show up.

No problem guys. It's a pleasure especially since I get to look at all the spiffy NejiTen stuff that got me obsessed with the pairing in the first place. XD

Seriously, as much as I love Sasuke, that whole 'defeating the Kyuubi' thing got me going wtf? I mean, he is ranked as one of the most powerful beings in the Naruverse, Yondaime and the Akatsuki leader being an example of some, but with one hand and poof? That got me.

I am also sad, again, that Sakura didn't do much (if anything) in this chapter. Goddamn, I want to see a Neo-Sannin fight so badly! What'd be even sicker is if the original Sannin were fighting as well... damn. What a melee.

DAMN the newest volume cover came out and it wasn't any of the post-time skip team! When oh when will we see post-time skip Team Gai ?!?!?

As our new owner, you've certainly done a magnificent job organizing all the fanfiction and fanarts :gailee (I've never used a lot of Naruto smilies ^^)
After reading chapter 309...
It left me devastated. I was sure and fully convinced that the anime/manga was going to end with Team 7 reunited. The future events just seemed predictable, but now it's exceedingly disheartening ;_; As for my question on if Sasuke knows he's going to be used as a container for Orochimaru's spirit, I never thought Sasuke would go so far and serious believing that he wouldn't care as long as his brother is killed. I guess the problem was that in his perspective, Konoha was not weak, but was just slow in training the ninja to become extremely powerful in a short period of time..so he had to turn to Orochimaru (sorry for stating the obvious).

I hate Sasuke this way, I really, really do.....I would like Naruto to beat sense into him as he has done with the others >.< Orochimaru has done a fine job manipulating him, but that's part of Sasuke's twisted belief; The past has haunted him to no end, and he wants it to end quickly, even though it means his death. For this chapter, I expected something along the lines of "a LOT of tears, begging, flashbacks, moments of deep pondering, clashing of kunais/other weapons, shock, and defeat (Sasuke losing of course :3)." Now retrieving Sasuke is so much harder.....>.> and I don't like it, because it's also difficult to think of ways to bring back Sasuke.

Pairings just don't seem to be so big in my current Naruto attachment, in fact I think I'm starting to lose interest because of these let-downs and other reasons :-(
Ah! Well, that's not part of my overview for chapter 309....

Uchiha Madara foreshadows a extended Naruto plot.....and it's tiring to follow everything (explanation: Too much for my tiny brain >>_<<).
Anyways, I'll be content if it has a happy ending.

1. Hyuuga Persuasion
Conceited Neji. Oozing sensual Neji (the first kiss did it for me XD). Will come up with a better review next time XD But this one TOPS my list, and is still unchallenged (that, or because I don't read as much as you guys do hehe)

2. The Sparrow
Goldberry's really amazing at depicting emotions. And judging from her character's lines and thoughts, you'll realize that the authoress must be a really intelligent and feeling person. A sacrificing Tenten, a Neji who couldn't afford to lose a love unspoken... touched, touched touched~!

I colored in Neji in two different styles using photoshop. The second one I actually put Neji's name in Chinese at the top just because I felt like it and I think the kanji looks cool :grin

Neji's full name in Chinese is ri xiang nei jia. The first two characters are the kanji for Hyuuga, and means towards sun, or "facing the sun".

Second two characters, nei jia mean inside/inner and home/family.

Most people know that Neji's name in Japanese means helix, or to screw (not in that way, the wierd connotation is only present in English when translated :P). However Neji's first name actually has two origins, Chinese and Japanese, so essentially both meanings are implied in his name.

I recently learned that his name could also be luo xuan in Chinese. Or rather that's what his name would be if it were translated through meaning. I learned of this from another member who's fluent in cantonese (Knight of Fate... anyofyou know him?). It's pronounced Lo Sun in cantonese and is written like this: 螺旋 It actually cooler than nei jia. If you know how to pronounce it that is... :sweat

All the Hyuuga attacks sound cool in Chinese too. Almost makes me wanna buy a Chinese dubbed version just to see what it would be like. Ah, maybe next time I'm there. :P

Neji gives me the impression that he should be in one of those fantasy/chinese legend based shows. His character that is. The long hair...the attitude, the Chinese martial arts references though I suppose all this could apply to Hyuugas in general. The style of clothing as well (from post timeskip). Part of reason why I like Neji actually. I love chinese fantasy/legend type shows ^_^

I wonder if Kishi likes watching those kinds of shows too. Not necessarily Chinese ones mind you. But I think I remember reading somewhere that they have em' in Japan too, similar type of shows, not based on Chinese legends but Japanese. Sometimes Chinese legends too though. Like for example you can't ignore all those references to Sun Wu Kong from Chinese legend of Journey to West, that's in like so many anime. Like for example Goku from DBZ, and the entire anime of Saiyuki is actually based off that legend. And also Lee's druken fist is actually based off of the martial arts style of a character from 水虎卷 (shui hu juan) which is also a very famous legend/story from China.

Actually, when I noted that Neji (unlike all other Hyuuga we've met) has a name NOT beginning with the H-sound syllable, I immediately alliterated it with Naruto. ^_^

And then their name meanings are also related, kind of, if you take Naruto to be 'maelstrom' and not 'fishcake'. I read somewhere his name could be parsed like that, will look it up to see if I'm remembering true. There's also the whole Uzumaki 'spiral' thing...and has anyone noticed the Hyuuga clan symbol, if what Hinata's wearing on her jacket is it, is a small flame in a yellow circle?

Tell your friend to cool off, the 'swastika' (it's actually forty-five degrees off and backwards compared to Neji's seal) was an ancient symbol - the Buddhisht manji - symbolizing such lovely concepts as peace, strength and intelligence long before the Nazis co-opted it for themselves.

Actually, that brings up the question of what Kishi was trying to say when he used it for the Hyuuga seal.

Re: Neji and his Byakugan eyes. Interesting the idea is, wouldn't using his Byakugan on Tenten just give him a picture of her internal chakra coils? It's really like an Xray that only shows a skeleton and detail above that. :P Though, Neji being a teenage boy, the shape of the body around the coils, without that much detail should be enough.

...it's odd, isn't it, to think of any of the characters except maybe Naruto and Kiba, maybe Konohamaru, being typical teenage boys in that sense.

The cool thing with Japanese, Chinese, and asian languages in general is that there are so many double-meanings. Plus, since Japan copied a lot of Chinese kanji, you get even more interesting cross-overs with that.

On Neji, the Byakugan, and the "clothes situation:"

Well, depending on how fine or number of chakra coils in a human body, or how well the user is able to see fine coils, this could give varying degrees of "sight" for a Byakugan. It's generally held that Neji is a great deal better than Hinata than using the Byakugan, therefore I'd venture that he can see finer details such that when taken altogether, gives a complete blue-glowing "picture" rather than a bunch of coils, which is what I presume Hinata could see (although by post-timeskip, she'd be a lot better.) And there's variations I believe in the activation of the Byakugan; for instance simply seeing the existance of chakra and another being the major coils, then the minor coils, etc.

The chakra coil system reminds me a lot of acupuncture, and there's like a gazillion acupuncture points, some more major than others. We could make the analogy that acupuncture points are like tenketsu points (also called chakra points or pressure points). And again, better users of the Byakugan can see more and/or smaller points.

So therefore, Neji when using the Byakugan would probably see a blue-glowing Tenten, plus the chakra strings that she uses. ...And since chakra doesn't run through clothes...O_o...geez, maybe that's the reason why the Hyuugas are so closed off. To prevent becoming mega-pervs like Jiraiya. :P

I'm actually not that great with kanji. My reading and writting's really rusty. But I can use a kanji dictionary fairly efficiently. That's how I figured out that 螺旋 was pronounced luo xuan. I looked it up. ^_^;; I can look up any character and find out it's meaning and pronunciation in mandrin. Unfortunately if I was reading something, like say a newspaper, I'd have to look up something for like every other sentence. It's rather troublesome. :sweat So usually I just skim and get the general jist... which is cool. I can actually do that with Japanese manga and doushin too sometimes.

You can call me KT sasukecherryblossom ^_^ hmm, I first began watching Rurouni Kenshin on a spanish channel when I was introduced to the anime by my brother..except they named it Samurai X there. I think that I left during the Kyoto arc, I'm not sure. But I was satisfied to hear that Kenshin and Kaoru ended up together ^^

I can't say I'm completely fluent though.....my parents make fun of my brother and I when the order of our words are messed up, like, "wo meng qiu zo ba" (that was my brother when he was younger). My relatives in Taiwan believe that it is funny to tease me when I pronounce something that's a bit off from how they say it ^_^'''

Chinese drama is very awesome :nod Although I like japanese-style fighting....mostly because I believe that their type of martial arts aren't as rough and crude (I'm not going to compare it to any other cultures). But according to my mom, that sort of fighting is when you've mastered the skills and are able to continue to advance on those skills. I shouldn't be judging anything though.......I'm athletically challenged :P

Haha, yeah, the dramas with the old-styled clothes are usually wuxia dramas.

The usual elements are martial arts and the protagonists heading off on some historic adventure, the typical ones that make movies are for revenge or to become the greatest fighter or to overcome some great evil as you can imagine. It's pretty formulaic but they're fun to watch, I really just like watching 'ancient' setting Chinese dramas, they don't have to be wuxia exactly, but it's entertaining :D

My Chinese is terrible, I can't read, and I speak horrible Cantonese, I can only understand, and even with that, there's lots of words I don't understand, especially when it comes to more complex and serious subjects.

When I watch these dramas sometimes to me it sounds like this: "I feel so ___! Why can't I ____? It makes me so ____ that ____ and then maybe I could _____ instead of ____. Why does he have to be so __? I just want to ____!" You get the point xD So when I'm watching I sometimes just have to fill in the blanks by watching and assuming, it's like madlibs XD

so yeah, don't feel bad, I'm terrible xD I even refer to myself as the Chinese school drop-out ;)

Most Rurouni Kenshin fans disregard the second OVA completely; even the author doesn't like it because he said he liked happy endings, of which the second OVA is not. XP Plus, it was called Samurai X, and not Rurouni Kenshin...so...yeah...there's a lot of mumuring about the RK anime. The art is also a great deal different (although higher quality) in Samurai X than in the regular anime or in the manga.

Sadly, the RK anime went through what the Naruto anime is doing right now -- an entire season of fillers because the anime caught up to the manga. And unfortunately, the quality and rating dropped so low for the RK fillers that they discontinued it and the Enishi arc was never animated. Hopefully that won't happen to Naruto. ^_~

As for learning Chinese...I tried. All through grade school, sporatic interest and then quick dying out because well...my handwriting is like a spastic kindergartner, and there's little to no real-life application since here in America everything is traditional and everywhere else, like the classroom, is simplified; and plus the local Chinatown has more Cantonese and Taishan and not Mandarin, which is what is usually taught in the classroom... so I never knew what word or accent to use since I'm hearing three dialects and two writing systems. And to top it off, I hear Japanese via anime, Spanish via high school/life, Indonesian from my mom, and for my own personal fun I learn ancient Egyptian. O_o

3) Lots of failed (goofy) humor. Once in a while there will be good jokes, and the other times its been overused by (guesstimating) 13 shows before it.
4) Neji and Tenten (respectively the main hero and heroine) will be so dastardly good and smart and moral and awesome and sweet and ideal and hot/pretty and so on; yet they will both inevitably totally overlook the growing relationship between them.
5) ANYONE WHO LIKES ANOTHER WILL BE COMPLETELY IGNORANT TO THE HUUUUUGE LOVE HINTS THAT ARE DROPPED.
6) Lots of episodes. And then some. There will be a NejiXTenten I, II, III sequals and all will have increasing episodes that can clog up your shelf in no time.
7) Irony. And lots of it that's enough to make you want to shake your TV and yell "OMGWTF YOU'RE STUPID."
8) Another conflicting male+female character that will like Neji and Tenten.
9) Flashbacks of when Neji and Tenten were little kids and talk in forced voices.
10) A happy ending. :P

So that was fun, hah. I hope all the people who watch the newest Hong Kong/TVB televised drama shows that they'll get what I'm talking about.

Rurouni Kenshin is my favorite anime/manga, beside naruto... i think you should read the manga for the official ending.. the part 3 of the anime is actually fillers and they just end it in episode 95 (not a very good ending though).... the manga is great, esp the part 3 which is never animated (the Jinchu Arc) ^_^ it's awesome !!!

Mingzhu-Yeah, we can't demand for more NejiTen scenes..Kishi would be annoyed, and would just cut out any NejiTen scenes he had planned, just to spite us XD (no, Kishi wouldn't be that evil.......or would he???). If there were too many many NejiTen moments, it would kind of become tedious ^_^; If we kept pressing Kishi to tell us whether Neji belonged with Tenten, he would probably avoid the whole thing and say that it's our choice (just as Nomura did in FFVII, which made me annoyed, because AERITH REUNITED WITH ZACK IN THE LIFESTREAM!!!!!! It's a matter of opinion so I'm not gonna go in there and bash them all, but still...

Personally, I love Tenten. Just 'cause she doesn't show up as often as Sakura, Ino, or Hinata (and Ino and Hinata don't show up often either!) doesn't mean she's useless. =/ She has 100% accuracy for weapons, for crying out loud. THAT'S useless? Pfffft.

Well, I've heard that most Asian countries considered males to be more important than females (all the sexist talk about how girls can't do as much:notrust ). To say the truth, Tenten isn't an unpopular character, she is a minor character, but that's hardly unpopular. It's extremely unfair, because the other kunoichi have more appearances in the manga/anime, and although Kishi has said that Tenten's design is his favorite, we haven't seen anything that could help interest these fans.

She's not less worthy than the other kunoichi, like you said Auxi. There's just not enough that we know about her to declare her as a popular character :( Seriously, Kishi needs to show her past sometime, but then, it's not very Tenten-centered ;_;

I haven't watched any in a long time personally, I've been downloading more anime really, with Naruto and Bleach on fillers, I'm trying to catch up with the ONE PIECE anime. I started reading the manga around the end of April and got all caught up in a week :laugh but then started to download the anime, there's just so much though :cry

and I don't think Tenten is unpopular, she's just got a smaller fanbase, unpopularity is connected to being generally disliked, more "hated" characters should fall under unpopular. Tenten is just underexposed, but I don't think that people really hate her, except Mizura :laugh, I mean she hasn't really done enough in the series to have people hate her for rational reasons. She's a supporting character and hasn't been a primary character in any story arcs, much to our chagrin.

On Tenten...well, it's kind of the simple fact that she's a girl that's not a love interest or the main character in a shonen manga. These kinds of characters never get a major fanbase as obviously, the main character, etc. Plus, her strength is long-distance fighting, which unfortunately, inherently is more difficult to animate, draw, write, and is not instinctially interesting to people. It's internal to even her character design, and as such these types of characters never become extremely popular/ are easily bashed...T_T

Dang. I am so going to write a NejTen and Tenten essay. ...In my everlasting free time, of course, beyond fanfiction, fanart, studying, MV, wallpaper, photoshop, and something called Real Life..

Tenten's in the manga/anime, even IF (and that's IF) she lacks a personality, still has a definite purpose. Even a person who hates Tenten has to admit that in certain situations, she is able to say what neither Lee nor Neji can. Because it's really easy to be out of character when there's such a set mold for said character (take for example Neji). However with a character like Tenten, you can say what you want and not have the fear of being "out of character" so to speak, or at least not as much so. Thus makes her character very usable actually. In that sense, she's actually quite useFUL not useless. ^_~

Thanks for the welcome, and even though I have to agree, Tenten is sorta fill-in character, we "the fans" make our own personalities of her to share across the internet, so in our perspective, she does have a personality. Anyway, have you ever seen how good she looks while traning?

I honestly don't understand how Tenten doesn't have a personality. A person who lacks personality would be someone who didn't react at all to a situation. Someone who basically was the background and had no say in anything. Just went with the flow of things and had no involvement with anything in the story.

First of all, Tenten does have a personality. Kishimoto even pointed them out in his data book. There was even a chart in the back of the book, which shows a chart about all the characters and where they stood personality wise. Tenten was closer to the center than most of the others, but she was leaning more towards the passionate margin of things. And of course she's passionate. She wants to be a great ninja like Tsunade-sama. You can't have a dream and not have passion. That just doesn't work. Why is she closer to the center than the others? Because unlike the others, her personality is more stable. She's not loud like Ino or Gai, but she isn't shy and quiet like Hinata. She's balanced, which is one of the reasons I like her. She's a very down to earth person. She knows when to speak her mind, but she doesn't over do it either.

She has also had involvment with the storyline. She was indirectly involved with the whole Neji plot because she was the one to stay behind and help him train, and she was also there for the Gaara rescue arc. She was given time/panel space to react and become involved with the new plot that was developing. This was not only a very important plot line, but she also helped take part in three major battles, two being against Akatsuki members (and for those who don't know...these people are beyond tough, but she stuck it out and aided as best she can...she never just stood there gasping or staring like an idiot).

I think another issue is that people think she's weak. In no way is she weak. I'm not going to talk about the 'what ifs' because they are pointless. There's no changing what is written, but if she was honestly weak and incapable as a ninja she wouldn't have gone on to be a chuunin and she definitely wouldn't have been mentioned in the team attack against Kisame during the time jump. Honestly, would team Gai allow for her to slack off and remain weak? Heck, no! Team Gai is all about training. Tenten knows her team, and her team knows her. They work as a unit, and as such, wouldn't be able to function as a whole without her or if she were to remain weak. In both her manga covers, Tenten is shown taking a break. It even says this is a rare thing for her mainly because she needs to deal with her teammates 24-7. Kishimoto makes mention of this on the time skip cover on the side bar. She's always working hard, and I think she deserves respect for the things she does.

My last point is that Kishimoto reserved a special power for Tenten. Something that none of the others had, the ability to be recognized. While others slaved away at proving their worth, Tenten has the ability to gain recognition on her own quickly. It's fairly obvious especially after the time jump that her team does indeed recognize her abilities and utilizes these abilities on the field. Whether the audience chooses to see her in a similar fashion is up to them. They really can't take that away from her.

Those are just some of the reasons why Tenten will remain my favorite. I just love her to pieces and think that people should cut the crap and accept her, flaws and all.

It's true though. She wrote an essay about how Tenten has no personality and had, 'aka Tenten bashing' on the side. :notrust That and she also wrote an antinejiten essay as well. In both though, I find all of her points wrong. I used to argue against her, but she's rather stubborn and doesn't like anyone that goes against her ideals. I'm not the only one to see these flaws though in a number of her essays. She's just way too biased for her own good. Good thing she isn't a politician...I'd fear the sake of this planet.........

And the weak part. Whoa...I would like to see another ninja handle numberous weapons at once. Oh, and add a bomb in there as well. I don't see why people think handling weapons only is just plain boring and that ALSOLUTELY MEANS the character is weak. To have said that she must know great detail about Neji's bloodline and his skills. She's definitely not handling any kiddy stuff, so such information is valuable. I believe she was the first to say that Neji's field of vision wasn't complete. Later on this information is found out by an Kidomaru (sp?) and exploited.

And NejiTen Mizura support not, and too obvious to say NejiHina is a yes. O_o Tenten, for all we love her, is a minor side girl character in a shonen manga with a character design that doesn't revolve around romance, therefore of course she will not get pagetime and she will not appear caring (as a minor side girl character with a character design that does not involve romance). The (sad) end.

And quite frankly, I like how she doesn't blatently says/does "I CARE FOR YOU" because then it'd be just too easy to fall into one of two stereotypes of female superheros, which as one person put it, "strong woman = angry ice queen," or "strong woman = short-tempered PMS factory." If all of a sudden Tenten gets all huggy, or starts bandaging Lee, or begins bringing Neji lunch daily, I will freak.

However, to say that any character is useless.......that's just insulting Kishimoto's work. I mean apart from the REALLY minor characters that we seem roaming the streets of Konoha or whatever, so far every character has served a purpose.

If Kishimoto had spent the time designing Tenten's character and giving her all these amazing traits - her dream to be like Tsunade, for example (which is similar to Naruto's ambition....I think it's quite safe to say that one of the ongoing themes in the manga is the idea of 'never giving up' or 'chasing your dreams' - so wouldnt that make Tenten one of the characters who actually embody this ideal?) - her mastery of weapons (isn't it telling that Kishimoto had given her a defining style, just like all the other so-called 'important'
characers?) - her sweet smile - everything, really - then what right does anyone have to label her as 'useless'?

Cosmo, I love the way you talked about Tenten being recognized by her teammates. In a series like Naruto where so many characters are struggling to find their place, and as you put it, their worth, Tenten, while certainly ambitious, has the full-on recognition and respect of her team. It may seem sort of trivial when compared to everything else that's going on in the Narutoverse, but it's significant and says a lot about her character and her role in Team Gai.

Cosmo, I also read your latest LJ entry and burst into laughter while reading your Tenten-haters rant, especially in regards to our favourite Tenten fan ever ;) Upon reflection, I actually think it's notable that the one and only time we see Tenten "made-up" is for Neji's fight with Naruto xD if I want to grasp at straws, one could even say she may have got all dressed up for him and wanted to look pretty for his fight (!!!) I'm just playing xD

I must admit, when I first started reading Naruto, Tenten wasn't a standout, personal favourite, but when I got here and came across this thread and got into NejiTen, I started liking her a lot more, and with all the hating and bashing her character gets the more I decidely like her xD I guess it's the minirebel anti-conformist in me.

Anyway, your analysis and interpretation of Tenten's character is pretty much the same one I share. She's certainly not an immensely passionate person to the extent of Lee or Naruto, but I don't think she's indifferent or passive either. She's definitely someone who takes the initiative, and doesn't like waiting around for things to happen or get done, but she has her reservations as well, she's not brash or overly impulsive. She's level headed, but she has her convictions as well, and in a series such as this, level-headed characters are rare to come by. It's like you said, she's the type who knows when to speak her mind, but has tact and doesn't over do it.

Ah, an epiphany, I think that's what I like about her, she's rational. Female characters like Sakura are usually my favourite: strong-willed, straight-forward and opinionated, someone who doesn't take anyone's nonsense, and she could reasonably be all those things, except she seems to lose all of that and her sense when it came/comes to Sasuke. With Tenten, she can be all those things but she also has rationality and restraint, and I think that's admirable in a character. It's like one of my favourite quotes from my favourite politician "reason over passion" xD which is not to say Tenten lacks passion, or that it doesn't play a role, but she's sensible enough to act rationally should the occasion call for it.

Which is why I think it's nonsense when Mizura calls her a bitch. Not in a playful way, in a serious, Tenten is a bitchy female sort of way. It boggles my mind.

Heh. You know something? Tenten's actually the best kunoichi among the Naruto cast.

Wanna know why?

Because a true shinobi stays in the shadows, is not obstentatious, and does not blatantly attract attention.

This is why everbody in Konoha pretty much view Naruto as a bad ninja despite his power. I'm guessing here but, the average shinobi when they see Naruto probably eventually has in his head at some point that this dude would make a far better samurai.

Tenten is like Shino, she stays in the background and doesn't attract too much attention. However, her strength and abilities are acknowledged by her team mates.

As for her wearing lipstick. Look at it this way, remember what that lady that taught Ino and Sakura said? If a girl can't learn to act like a normal girl, when going undercover she'll get figured out as a kunoichi right away and that for the sake of the mission, is very very bad. Thus a female ninja would HAVE to learn how to put on makeup and ect, if only because sometimes it has to be part of the act... and not only that you have to be GOOD at it.

Who says that Tenten HAS to have worn lipstick to Neji's battle just because she wanted to look pretty for him? (I know... blasphemy as a NejiTen fan, but work with me here) For all we know she could have been on an undercover mission of some sort that required makeup, and just made it in time to watch Neji's fight. Or she could have wanted to look as good as possible in front of all those judges who are lords and ladies of various countries in Narutokai. Whoever they are, they're the ones paying the bills. You gotta look at least somewhat respectable for those people, or else might even lose respect for your Village, and that, would definitely NOT be good.

I think it's been made pretty obvious that neither Neji nor Hinata have feelings for each other. Hinata likes Naruto, and Neji seems to support her for her feelings. They indeed are prime examples of breaking free from their cages. That and Kishimoto hasn't gone into the genetics portion of how things work in the narutoverse. I think his main goal is making people happy in his series (not the audience). As long as this is satisfied and characters are able to strive and work to a certain goal (in this case a person) then why can't they?

However with a character like Tenten, you can say what you want and not have the fear of being "out of character" so to speak, or at least not as much so. Thus makes her character very usable actually. In that sense, she's actually quite useFUL not useless. ^_~

Because unlike the others, her personality is more stable. She's not loud like Ino or Gai, but she isn't shy and quiet like Hinata. She's balanced, which is one of the reasons I like her. She's a very down to earth person. She knows when to speak her mind, but she doesn't over do it either.

Exactly. But apparently people think because she doesn't have a 'main quality' or... whatever... I'm at lack of better words xD... she doesn't have personality. For example... Gai, Lee, Naruto, Kiba and Ino are all very loud. Hinata and Shino are very quiet. Sasuke is revenge-seeking (I guess you could say Neji goes there too, because of the curse seal). Shikamaru's lazy. Chouji loves eating. Kakashi and Jiraiya are perverted. Tenten is none of those indivisual things... she doesn't have a main personality trait like that. That doesn't mean she has no personality though.

Those are just some of the reasons why Tenten will remain my favorite. I just love her to pieces and think that people should cut the crap and accept her, flaws and all.

Fanfictions are such an influential factor in my books. However, try as I might, I can't seem to like anything other than the (somewhat) canon pairings in Naruto.

*Sigh*, I think my interest in this manga is wavering. The fillers need to stop and I think I have to re-read this arc to fully appreciate it. As of now, I'm hating the fact that Sasuke is pawning everyone. Sure, a scene here or there has been good since Kishimoto needs to show the changes before and after the timeskip, but now it's just sad.

^^ I'm the exact same way. Fanfics have gotten me into, besides NejiHina, SasuHina, ITASAKU!! (I adoreeee ItaSaku fics <3333333333333 And now I adoreeee ItaSaku xD), Uchihacest (SasuIta), and I'm about to read that well-known KankuTen fic, so that might be added to the list. ;3

But for me, that goes for fanart too. Actually, the main reason why I like SasuHina is because it has some ADORABLE fanart. Uchihacest, I love the fanart... some of it's adorable, and some of it's very smexy xD, some of it's pretty *.*. That's the main reason why Uchihacest is one of my favorite crack pairings. And the main reason I like NejiHina = fanart.

I admire the fanarts but it's not enough to change my opinion, because even if it's insanely pretty, the fact remains that Hinata is still Hinata and Neji is still Neji, and that's pretty much the basis of my distaste for the pairing, because I absolutely love Neji and Hinata is one of my most disliked.

I know it's not of popular opinion, but Hinata's type of character has never been a favourite with me. I've argued with Mizura about this as well, but Hinata just falls too easily into the stereotypical 'Good Asian Girl' syndrome, also affectionately known as GAG, that I despise so much :3

Fanfiction can definitely influence me, it's what got me into NejiTen in the first place, but if I'm not terribly opposed to the idea in the first place, I can be persauded and fall in. Why yes, 6 couplings out of the billion generated each day.

Every other pairing I’ve seen, or read about are more or less based on how people see character personalities or how they wish Kishimoto’s world works. Fanfiction and fanart do indeed sway people in different directions. It doesn’t work for me though. =/ I find it hard to read anything out of the fandoms I like. When I do, the pairings or ideas just seem wrong to me. They don’t make sense, and I hate it when things don’t make sense. If it doesn’t seem likely, I don’t bother getting involved. For the pairings I do like, the fanfiction and fanart help me appreciate the potential of the pairing in question.

Some of the more popular pairings based on these ideas would include SasuNaru, NejiHina, and KakaIru. They are extremely popular, but I doubt either one will become canon. Two out of the three mentioned have already been established more as familial bonds than anything romantic. If Kishimoto truly intended them to be taken more as a romantic pairing than he would have allowed for such a development to happen and dropped a lot of the infatuations that were important in part I. The KakaIru would go under the classification of crack. Crack being, ‘where the hell did this pairing come from and why?’ I still don’t understand the appeal for crack pairings. Perhaps it’s because more people like the challenge of putting them together or would rather people with certain personalities to play out more than the one’s that are on the route of happening already. I also think it has to do with character popularity. Blah…but it happens with all fandoms. I mean, look at all the ridiculous pairings that evolve from other fandoms and there hasn’t been a time when such a pairing develops without at least some proper information and development through out the series. It’s basically why I can’t take some of these fandoms seriously, no matter how good the person can argue in their favor, I can at least tell fact from fiction.

That’s not to say that people aren’t allowed to like any pairing they want. I’m just not one for random pairings. People who enjoy crack pairings know that it won't become canon, well at least the sensible ones do, they just enjoy the idea behind the pairings. For some, the idea that it goes against the current and that it won't be realized is where the satisfaction lies, for others it's just the (possible?) chemistry two characters share, or that they enjoy both personalities and like the idea of them being together, which is really the basis of all shipping, the only difference between "crack" and those leaning on "canon" is the possibility, where those leaning on canon have a better chance of happening and crack, well not so much.

Like I have no problems with SasuNaru supporters. I can see why they like it, sure it's not going to be realized and Naruto's probably not going to have hot homoerotic sex with Sasuke, but I can see why they like the idea and why they support it. Rivals are always put together because there is also chemistry and a basis for a relationship, it makes sense to me why people ship the pairing. I wouldn't personally call this crack though, I'd consider it "shounen-ai canon" XD If you're looking to pair boys up with boys, this is the most canon thing you can support.

KakaIru on the other hand is the most absurd thing I have come across in the Naruto fandom. Sure there's more retarded pairings out there, but the sheer mass popularity of this pairing boggles my mind because they don't even interact with each other. Personally, I would definitely consider this crack. Then again, I'm just plain against the idea of Kakashi being with someone who is so much less atttractive than himself. If you're going to pair Kakashi with a man, let it be a prettier one :p

The only problem I have with crack pairings is when supporters of such pairings are actually deluded enough to believe that they'll happen in the series and are decidely against anything that leans near "canon"esque.

but with all honestly, I wouldn't be crying emo-tears if NejiTen didn't "happen" in the end. I've just come to like both of them as strong-willed individuals, and simply enjoy the idea of them being together, it doesn't have to be "realized" to make me satisfied :)

I especially agree with the part about Hinata. Personally I kind of enjoy incest fics, mostly for the 'family bond too close for anyone else to touch' angle - which only works if the family members are close in the first place. Or have the potential. Hinata is too...gentle, sweet, soft, BORING for me to enjoy any pairing with her - the only people I can imagine for her are Shino and Kiba (and perhaps Lee, for some reason.) - people who might treat her kindly. Shino and Kiba have shown themselves kind of protective of their teammate, and Lee is just a gentleman.

But Naruto and Neji have their own dreams and they can't dedicate their lives to her, and have such strong personalities, that they'll probably leave her behind/step all over her. And she'd let them.

Let's not forget Neji's whole "YOU'RE THE MAIN HOUSE WHO ENSLAVED ME" issues and Naruto's complete and utter lack connection to her really, compared to Sakura. Honestly I think he'd faster and better bond with someone like Ino or Hanabi than Hinata.

Oh Hinata. Why did you have to be the token spineless doormat character? The dynamics of a bitchy/cold-hearted/hot-headed/NOT HINATA-LIKE Hyuuga heiress could have been so interesting. Which is why I am quite interested in Hanabi.

I know a lot of people like Hinata so I'll try not to say anything decidely against her character, more so I'm against what her character, to me, represents and reflects.

Like I said before, I'm partial to the straight-forward, opinionated, bitchy female characters, they are usually my favourite, probably because I'm a bitchy female myself. Tenten's not a bitch by any means but she has the honest, upfront, and action-taking personality traits that make for a strong female character, and that's what I like about her. If she was half the bitch Mizura made her out to be, I'd probably like her even more.

Hinata, however, is way to kind and passive to be remotely interesting to me, her bitch factor isn't even on the scale. There's nothing wrong with being a good-hearted character, but I find someone who is good-hearted with a slight meanstreak much more interesting and entertaining than someone who's heart is good and kind and pure.

Hinata showed a moment of resolve and strength and managed to wither back into GAG syndrome, consisting of the stereotypical traits of Good Asian Girls everywhere.

You know: shy, docile, indecisive, passive, hesitant. If you be quiet, be painfully kind, know your place, don't speak up or talk back, and mix it up with low self-confidence, you'll make someone a fine housewife someday. It's everything I hate wrapped into one!

Hinata's character shows many symptons of GAG syndrome, and in result, such characteristics cause me to well um, gag. I'm not saying she's all those things, she's not, what I am saying is her character falls into that stupid GAG archetype very easily and very well, and that archetype is basically everything I despise in a person. It represents what I've been fighting against for a lot of my life, I just can't bring myself to respect or like someone like that, I know her sweet, kind, inoffensive personality is what a lot of people like about her, but it also so happens to be everthing I find wrong with her.

I'm not intending to bash her or her character, she is kind and sweet and that's great. I just don't care for it :3

KakaIru boggles me, because in an anime that has many things that could be taken as yaoi/shounen-ai hints, those two really don't have any. Naruto/Sasuke? We all know where that stems from. (Naruto/anyone really, seeing as how he's the main character with the power of 'affecting peoples' lives profoundly')

^^ Same here. The only pairing I'd really be disappointed about is NaruHina... I don't really expect Neji to be paired up with anyone, besides maybe Tenten, so if it's not Tenten IMO I don't think he's with anyone. So I'll still support NejiTen. ^^

As for Hinata... good opinions, reasons and explanations. ^^; I feel kind of weird now, because she's my favorite character. You guys didn't offend me AT ALL or anything, I just feel strange 'cause I like her so much. xD I don't really know why... I'm a sucker for cute characters, I could say. I prefer cute over bitchy (though I love Ino too xD). But you guys are right-- she's the 'GAG' (hehe) stereotype. But I think everyone pretty much fits into a stereotype (except Tenten, honestly) somehow... I mean, pretty much every anime character has a stereotype. Ino, Haruhi from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Tomo from Azumanga Daioh, Naruto, Kiba, and more are the loud-mouthed stereotype. Hinata, Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh, Mikuru from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Chii from Chobits, and a LOT LOT more from other shows are the adorably cute and sweet stereotype. Kagome from Inuyasha, Sakura, Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin, etc. I'd say are the main girls stereotype. xDDD If that's even a stereotype. Well, you get it. But anyways, pretty much all characters except the really original one (xDDD I'd say the most original character I can think of right now is Kagura from Fruits Basket... one minute she's "Kyo my darling, are you hurt? I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!" -cute, sweet- and the next she's beating him up and screaming and breaking things. ;3)

But... wow, I'm getting REALLY off topic and smammy. x.x Well, the point? Cute people are in pretty much EVERY anime. Every anime I can think of right now (Azumanga Daioh, Inuyasha, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Fruits Basket, etc) has at least one cute-stereotype person. I don't mind stereotypes personally, but I know a lot of people prefer more original characters, like Tenten. ^^

Yes~! I know exactly what you mean.....when I first got into Naruto, I always felt rather isolated from the Hinata fans because try as I might I just couldn't really like her. She was just rather...boring. (Now I'm beginning to like her, but only because I spent some time writing fanfic with her in it...and I guess writing about a character opens you up to possible new aspects of personality/quirks etc?) Well, I did get to like Sasuke via that route - then again, I never thought him boring, just a (bleep). The only reason I read NaruHina is because a) there's Nejiten in the foreground or b) To see Neji react to it, usually violently.

On the pairing thing. Well. This is shonen. Romance is obviously not its forte or its focus. Also, this is a shonen manga emphasizing (among other things) friendship and teammates.

...So really, barring the obvious crushes, you can blow up any teammate/friendship moment into a shipping moment and viola! A ship. And nobody can technically argue with it, because it's all up to interpretation anyways. What you say is brotherly friendship moment, another says Love. Or rather, a moment that can be interpreted or extended to love. And again, it's all up to shipping interpretation, and all bets are off. :P

There must be some outcry of "but where's the canon?!?" ...but really. This is shipping. Shippers are...shippers are very enthusastic about their ship. XP Canon is a means to an end for them. Canon is used as material for their ship, and then you have the rabid shippers going at it waving their interpreted canon material going "Yours is only friendship" and the other side going "NO YOURS IS" and then there's the sidelines where people are otherwise laughing hysterically at the (possibly crack) pairings going at it or saying "you're both wrong, it's both friendship, now let's get back to getting Naruto to pawn Sasuke."

Trying to prove a ship's "canon-ness" or worth when it is not irrevokably canon with shojo sparkles and a written out statement in the canon is a dangerous business.

On stereotypes. Every character when first introduced fits a stereotype. It's the natural of human nature to judge, why first impressions are so important. Many of the Naruto characters are easy to stereotype: Hinata = shy, Sasuke/Neji = anti-hero, Shikamaru = lazy...but people see Tenten and wonder, what the heck are you? What's your defining character? Tenten = ????

...Tenten = Neutralizing Factor. She is the middle ground character of Team Gai.

...I'm going to go more in-depth on that in my charcter essay on Tenten, which stands at 12 pages and I'm perhaps 1/3 of the way through. :P

Yup, I don't know why I keep forgetting to not use the *s, but they've become such a part of my formatting habits they keep coming up to bite me. Thus I get chapters with questionable formatting. :sigh Well, I guess that having them filtered out automatically is better'n the chance of being reported.

Anyway, nice argument re: the relative validity of most pairings. Anyway, canon just gets in the way of fun crack like NaruHanabi *coughandsasutencough*. Of course I find shipping debates kind of fun, and there are obviously pairings that are more canon and/or more compatible, but a good writer can take the weirdest stuff and run with it, build it up.

One of the best fics I've ever read was a crack pairing, against one of my favorite ships. (In GWing, a HxH which went against my very much HxR mind. But the writer did it so well that I was actually waiting for them to kiss, and she rocked in writing up the connection)

stardust-My interest is beginning to falter too ;_; The fillers aren't entertaining in the anime, and the manga is depressing. I would say fanart would probably help you cling onto the anime....might even inspire you to draw something ^_^ Fanfiction is my/your next hope as well as the people in this FC. I hope you won't leave though, the FC will miss you. I probably won't stay long, concentrating on one anime/manga might be the reason for my shifting enthusiasm =.= I really hate typing in paragraphs (see above) one sentence and then a giant space inbetween (annoying). But then the sentences have nothing to do with each other.....so bueh. Tennis is becoming my favorite sport ^^ but my wrist keeps softening after many swings. I lose strength in my forehand after a few hits.....and strangely, I do better as a beginner on my backhand.

Fanfiction is a giant influential factor Stardust, it's gotten me interested in numerous pairings...in fact, I began reading fanfiction before joining. What attracted me most was Nejihina, the stories had a sense of brotherly and sisterly love developing into a yearning for wanting to be with each other forever, or just simply saying how they sacrifice themselves to let the other be happy. So, my first favorite Naruto pairing was Nejihina..and I still love it now, don't kill me.......it's the fanfics :oh Fanarts made them look extremely compatible, due to their similarities in the features of their faces. So I would say, the fanart are deceitful....because their personalities are widely different.

Actually, Hinata is one of my favorite characters, despite her unwavering shyness, and quiet character. I can relate to her, because I am extremely timid myself..and it is truly difficult to speak up for oneself when others are arrogant, condescending, popular, and obnoxiously LOUD (not refering to Naruto here, he is a exception here....because she loves him XD). I would love her even more if she had a double personality, like being frightening when provoked or bullied too far, and being a persistent debater when arguing for something she believes should be protected.

I'm not much of a shounen-ai fan...unless the male characters are overwhelmingly adorable and shy when communicating with each other XP Ehh...but for shinobi characters (I don't mean to be offensive; meaning: don't attack me), it seems to degrade their status XP *is dead, no need to kill again*But for characters like Gai.....it's fun to pair him up with some male character.....because he is too damn funny <3

Toboe Lonewolf-Yes, there would be an outcry about the cannon-ness in each anime when speaking about a friend-like relationship (is that what you're saying?). Like the CloTi pairing in FFVII, a twisted and complicated relationship. In the beginning, they were good friends, and he admired her from afar, and strived to impress her (she never knew until he confessed)......so he applied for the dangerous group SOLDIER. But as the plot progresses, he meets a flower girl, Aerith, and is attracted by her sweetness and loving characteristic. It's pretty obvious that Tifa looked resigned when Cloud was internally raving and feeling guilty over Aerith's death, mainly because she felt that she could not compare with the flower girl. Cloud's love has not been confirmed...and I quote, ''has been hotly debated over for years.'' Final Fantasy is confusing, with all the emotional scenes between Cloud and Tifa/Aerith...so the canon is left unanswered. However, Nomura escaped the wrath of each fandom by making it user's choice (good call Tetsuya!). Despite all that, I truly believe Cloud has let go of his guilt, after having been 'forgiven' by Aerith........therefore, making Cloud move on with Tifa (tee hee ^_^) :nod

As for the stereotype discussion, everyone has already said it all....but just to add on some similar characters that fit in the same stereotype: Yuffie (FFVII), Rikku (FFX & X-2), Tomoyo (Cardcaptor Sakura), Ino, etc. fit the enthusiastic, happy, friend of main character, and minor character stereotype .

And for all the other topics.....bleh....I'm not gonna answer the rest =.=

Hmm.. you guys do have a point when it comes to Hinata. Thou, I consider her as one of my favorite characters. I don't necessarily find her boring even if she has the tendency to be too nice, too passive, and sometimes she needs to give herself some confidence.

But her character matures and grows just as the series goes along, the only other thing she probably hasn't been able to do is talk to Naruto without stammering or blushing but I think it's positively adorable.

He's been able to help her with just an encouragement from the stands.. even if she did lose out against Neji, she fought her hardest and managed to come out of her shell and give it her all. I still think it was a somewhat victory for Hinata there.

And when Naruto was feeling doubtful before the Chuunin exams, Hinata helped cheer him up. These two characters hardly even speak to each other and the moment they do, they help each other in little ways. Well, this is my little speech as a Naruhina fan. Muack~ ^.~ I don't necessarily think they'll end up together, that all depends on Kishi-sama.. but anyway, just being hopeful.. ^^

As for Sasunaru, well.. not to comfortable with the idea even if it is a popular pairing. ^_^;; I've only seen the two of them as comrades and never beyond that. Perhaps it all started with stealing Sasuke's First Kiss which I still think is one of the most memorable scenes in the anime. XD

KakaIru, yes.. well, perhaps Kakashi needs to be paired up with a beautiful guy or girl. Sorry, Iruka-sensei.. you're adorable still. :squish I still want to see Kakashi's face!! If Ayame's gotten smitten, I really wanna seeeeeeee~ :spaz

I *might* prefer it if NOBODY gets together officially. If Kishimoto-sensei just left romance unresolved. Then when Naruto's over, we can still talk about certain pairings and imagine what'd happen if they had gotten together.

Like... ^^ No offense to anyone, I know there are a lot of NaruSaku fans here... if Naruto and Hinata got together, YAY! That's great! If they didn't get together, but neither did NaruSaku, that's good. I can still live in my NaruHina fantasies xD. If NaruSaku happened... well, it'd be kind of weird picturing NaruHina in the future knowing Naruto and Sakura are together.

So maybe it'd be best if all characters just stayed single, but Hinata still liked Naruto, Lee still liked Sakura, Sakura still liked Sasuke, Tenten still admired Neji, etc. This way, everyone can still like their pairings without rubbing it in each other's faces about 'NARUHINA DIDN'T HAPPEN, NARUSAKU DID!' or 'HAHA, NARUHINA HAPPENED! NOT NARUSAKU! TOOOOLD YOU SOOO!', and that goes for other pairings too, not just NaruHina/NaruSaku.

That was such a good post KT! I also noticed how Tetsuya left it for the fans interpratation, but also left hints. I'm very angry with Naruto (Manga and show) right now. The only thing that will re-new my interest is some major Nejiten, SasuSaku, or NaruHina action.

it's always fun to have things open-ended; personally I find it boring once people actually do get together in series, because there's nothing more to do with them - like in Fushigi Yuugi, for example, or Harry Potter. But since Kishi says he wants to take the series into the next generation, I kind of think he'll have to establish some pairings. And I hope one is Nejiten, because I'd like to see their future kids romping it up with Naruto's. :)

Yes, but Nomura left many fans annoyed with Cloud's love undetermined (ME) >_< Cloud's attraction to Aerith isn't clear to me, since I haven't played FFVII.....so I interpret it as a guilty conscience, for not being able to rescue a precious friend. And as it continues in AC, Cloud just seems to be seeking forgiveness, and the Aerith/Cloud scenes are just showing Aerith being her playful/sweet self towards Cloud, reassuring him. I can't say that my view is correct, because I may not be informed with all the necessary information.

It just might be acceptable for me, and possibly others that the anime/manga should stay undetermined with all the supposed or assumed pairings. It WOULD put an end to the Fan wars ^^ but it would probably begin a hideous attack on Kishi from ravenous shippers.....shippers who are freakishly obsessed with their ships O_O I've completely forgotten Kishi saying that there would be romance......so I was leaning towards the, "this is a shounen manga.....there will not be much romance.....do not expect much," theory. But Naruto part II hasn't arrived in the anime, and to me, the anime is much less obscure than the manga....the manga is mind-boggling, and sometimes I just can't comprehend most of it ('til it is later explained by the posts and overviews from others who have read it). So, the pairings aren't very well hinted......except the water prison scene, but that is considerably subtle for people who do not know Neji well, as that section displayed Neji with unusual concern.

Thanks for the link! And I also think Clouds feelings for Aerith were out of guilt. I don't think Kishimoto can juts leave it neutral. Like in a manga Fruits Basket or my favorite Game Kingdom Hearts I would feel better if the romantic aspects were left open but I don't think so for Naruto. I mean Kishimoto can't say there is no romance. The whole SasuSaku thing is soooo romantic and sad. She really loves him, beyond a crush but I think NaruSaku will happen. But as everyone said- maybe Neutral will be the best choice. But I don't see how Nejiten will be any harm at all.
