Buggy!!! and Smoker. Buggy is halerious and is a really cool, more traditionnal style pirate (mean to crewmates but likes them and overall bad guy) and compared to most in one piece and i see his devil fruit having alot of potential. Cant wait to see him again. Smoker is interesting because hes a badass marine who is actually a genuine good guy and fits what a real marine should be. Unllike the stereotypical pirate that luffy isnt.

If we are not classing Vivi as one of the Strawhats, then Vivi hands down. She is probably the character which has received the most attention from Oda in her development outside of the Strawhats. My own personal bias towards the Alabasta arc probably swayed it also. Even now I still miss her :(

Another character to mention would be Crocodile. As far as One Piece bad guys go... Croc is by far the most twisted and evil imo.

If you go back and watch the Jaya episode again you get the feeling that he would like to squash Bellamy's head, but he's not worth the effort... and the whole sequence with BB and luffy at the bar going on about Meat and Pies was Hillarious to me this time... knowing what we know now... if you havn't gone back and watched that old segment knowing what you know now about the story line, you should... it's funny.. back to the OP... their are so many good characters all over the place.. that's what makes One Piece the Best..

Spandam: My favorite quality of Spandam's has to be his utter worthlessness and pathetic nature combined with his extreme cowardice. That along with his terminal clumsiness and coffee-related mishaps leads to no end of amusement for me. I love when he freaks out in an extreme manner, evidences some sadistic turn of phrase or laughs a laugh filled with pompous mania. His design is wonderfully homely with its purposefully non-cute panda markings and scarring. And, Funk Freed has to be one of my favorite weapons throughout the entire series, in part due to my own love of elephants.

Shanks: His laidback, selfless aura is incredibly appealing. The way he calmly and amusedly makes his way through most situations (always at his own pace) is something I respect and enjoy a great deal; not to mention the mischievous yet respectful and open way he deals with those around him. Added to that, I find his design (particularly after the loss of his arm) to be one of my favorites. While he may not have any extreme attributes, the accent color of his redhair and the swashbuckling style of his look cause his design to feel both traditional and unique at the same time. All in all, he's just a very charismatic, engaging personality.

Ace: Possibly one of the most polite pirates in the series, I enjoy how such idiosyncrasies seemingly contrast with his appearance and relationship to Luffy. Going further, I find interest in his dynamics with others in a way that's uncommon for me to experience regarding a non-strawhat character. For example, I like that he chose to reject his father's name in favor of his mother's, how he views Whitebeard, and, in conjunction, how he views Blackbeard. And, as a whole, I find him to be a very lively and/or intriguing presence to the point where I end up liking him more than most.

Bon-chan: From his first appearance, I really got a kick out of his character's comedy, even moreso when his seiyuu's performance is added into the equation. In addition, he earned a lot of my respect when he helped the Strawhats to escape from the Marines in Alabasta. And, it's that devotion to his friendship with Luffy and the crew which has ended up solidifying my love of his character in the long run.
