This series revolves around ancient china. The period that this game revolves around is the romance of the three kingdom period, where liu bei, cao cao, and sun quan got into power.

This game is so much and you get to play as many ancient officers, I love this series does anyone else...?

Discuss anything RTK here

Well the period is more like the warring states period with the name of the novel that kinda...sorta chronicled it being called romance of the three kingdoms.

I fuckin love these games. Mostly because they tend to kick my ass before I get used to the little changes here and there. It's quite interesting that the antithesis to this game is pretty much another series they have based on the same period of time (dynasty warriors, for those who didn't figure it out)

My favorite force is Wu and on Wu my favorite officer is Lu Su.

I don't know why but I'm always compelled to choose Shu in them and their spinoffs (dynasty warriors, Tactics, and the second Kessen).

I've enjoyed these series for a long time now (Dynasty Warriors and Tactics) but I think I've only played one of the Kessen's. My pick is Wu solely for Taishi Ci since I've played/used him for every Dynasty game I've played :nod
After checking Wiki quickly it doesn't say that a RoTTK has been released in Europe/USA, is this true? Since I'm sure I've played one from this series...

I always wanted to try these games out but never got the chance. Is it really worth it?Which one was you looking at? Dynasty Warriors/Tactics or Kessen? If you enjoy massive hack and slash then Warriors is the series that does it best imo and your in luck as number 6 is going to be released soon :wink

Yeah I have RTK 6-11, and I like them all alot. You should try picking up Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. The game is a complex strategy game, in IX and XI, you get to be the whole force and control every single officers, but in the rest of them you get to be one officer and control him only. There are many scenarios to choose from in the game, some of them historically accurate and some of them made just for fun. I think the funnest scenario is history of heroes where all 600+ officers in the game are all in one scnaerio. The officer can be a vassal, free officers, Viceroy, prefect or a leader of a force.

Leaders-If your a leader you get to do all the stuff such as control the city, finances, the officers under you, farming, diplomacy and wars etc. It seems like leaders are the best choice, but sometimes it amounts to alot of work such as making sure your officers are loyal etc. and there are too many choices, and its fun to have variety, so picking the other types of officers are fun as well.

Viceroys- are the best thing under leaders, they get to everything a leader does, but only under their district.

Prefect- gets to do everything under his/her city only.

Vassal- you work under your leader, in one of his or cities, you can offer proposals and such and sometimes they get accepted and sometimes they dont. Oh yeah i forgot, at anytime you can leave your force if you want to but your reputation lowers.

Free Officers- officers with no leaders and wander the country side you can choose to help forces to get gold or start a rogue army.

There are many things to do in the game and its really strategic no matter what you do. I think the wars and battles are the funnest parts. You can fight on land and on the water. Officers all have to learn abilities to help in the war and in politics. Smart officers can confuse dumb officers and mislead them or confuse them etc and also are very good at debates. While Strong officers can destroy many other officers easily and dueling is a sinch for these officers.

Oh yeah and all officers are rated under a 5 part system.
Leadership, War, Intelligence, Politics, and Character/Charisma.
These all determine an officers stats.

Also in 11 they re-introduced woman officers so you can get married to them etc. Its alot of fun and most of the woman officers are good and skilled as well.

You can make your own created officer which is really fun as well.

Also you can make fellow bonds with other characters. You can make Oath brothers which are pretty much like more than brothers and can start bonds with other people as well.

Sorry this was so sloppy only had like 20 minutes to make this, but you shuld really try out RTK games they are really fun and they seriously changed my life like Final Fantasy Tactics. Buts its all opinion in the end, if you like strategy you will love this game.

In Romance of the Three Kingdoms there all the historic Dynasty Warriors + 500 more officers that arent in the game, and for officers that aren't in Romance of The Three Kingdoms you can always make them in Create an officer.

Dynasty Warriors 6 is going to be amazing by the way. :thumbs
