And Guitar Hero-esque games, like Rock Band. Or bands you've rediscovered a love for due to the same.

For me, it'd have to be Frans Ferdinand. Oh, and The Slip. I love their sound.

I got a slap right back into Rage Against the Machine when I nailed Killing in the Name of when I tried the game for the first time.

Slash. I know, I know, not a band. I heard some songs from Guns N' Roses before and Velvet Revolver (<3 "Slither"), but it wasn't until Guitar Hero that I really got to enjoy Slash when he did that guitar solo (I think) on "Sweet Child O' Mine". That song is just beautiful!

I was in Mumbai, India when they were marketing the 25th anniv greatest hits album of Guns n' Roses. I was in a bar and then they played the video of "Sweet Child o'Mine." Place went fricking crazy. People were singing. Some guys were copying Axl Rose's swaying motions while singing...

And then the Slash solo comes on. Half the bar was doing Air Guitar. Craziest crap I've ever seen in my life. :laugh

Anyways for me, since I'm not up to date with newer stuff, I learned to listen to Slipknot, Queens of the Stone Age and learn of songs I didn't know a famous band played (Barracuda by Heart).

I know most of the older songs by heart. I play Cherub Rock by the Smashing Pumpkins as my warm up song in the game. (I'm one of the rare few Filipinos who've seen the Pumpkins live {Thailand} during the D'Arcy/Iha era of the band...)

I didn't start listening to anything new, but it reprized my love of Radiohead and Weezer.

Rage Against the Machine

God bless Guitar Hero for bringing the message of RATM to the masses.

Since 1516 Mayans attacked and overseen
Now crawl amidst the ruins of this empty dream
Wit their borders and boots on top of us
Pullin' knobs on the floor of their toxic metropolis
But how you gonna get what you need ta get?
Tha gut eaters, blood drenched get offensive like Tet
Tha fifth sun sets get back reclaim
Tha spirit of Cuahtemoc alive an untamed
Now face tha funk now blastin' out ya speaker, on tha one Maya, Mexica
That vulture came ta try and steal ya name
But now you got a gun, yeah this is for the people of the sun

Yes, and yes.

Guitar Hero, and its offspring, Rock Band, are basically considered the 2 greatest "Rhythm" Games ever created. Guitar Hero does a good job of actually making you feel like your rocking the fuck out.

I actually have started using a few random songs on Expert from GH3 to warm up my fingers for real guitar.
