he was right next to her when the neo hawk attacked, and he jumped out the window to attack them back. but apparently he didnt actually attack any of them, and by the time gutts & crew show up he was gone. WTF

He was fighting Zodd.
Anyways if you read the dialogue closely you would have known that Flora decided it was her "time" and fightring against her fate was pointless.
They both knew what was going to happen.

Basically this sums its up. Although I'm surprised Skull Knight didn't think of just carrying her off with his horse.

^ He was fighting Zodd. If Zodd weren't there I reckon he would have mopped up Grunbeld.
flora's time was near and all SK was going to do was let her have a peaceful death. That's what he accomplished.

Flora knew it was her time, so SK decided there was no reason to save her. It was a mutual understanding between to old friends.

He still wanted her to have a peaceful death though. Thats why he rushed out to attack the apostle forces. There was room in the horse for one more person, thats how he carried Guts from the Eclipse and that prostitute during Griffith's second coming to Earth. You would think carrying her away would have given her a better death than being burned alive in her house right next to a monster free for all.

I doubt a witch would think the same. To her, dying in her home in flames was a peaceful death. To die with everything in her life.

So burning witches is the right way to do it after all, looks like the religious freaks got one thing right :grin

^ lol the irony.
Well there is an element of being consumed by nature when dying in a fire. It may have been symbolic to Flora.

yeah thats true, Flora might have started the fire herself even so she wouldn't be taken and tortured by the apostles.

Eh ? I do not understand?
I didn't see any apostles with any torches I guess it could have been the Dragon dude, but dont they hate fire?
And the apostles seemed pissed of becouse the witch hunt ended so fast.
Better to burn it all the to leave anything to the apostles.
using fire seems to be a bit to cowardly coming from Zodd and the Dragon dude.
Plus it might have been her own fire sense she lived so long inside it, remember she helped Gutts and company to escape the Dragon dude and the house hade been burning for sometime then, u could see her shadow behind the flames in one frame.

Eh ? I do not understand?
It was lyrics from a once popular song.
Anyways, I agree though, with the Floral wanted/excepted death and the fire seems to be a symbolic nature-type death. Not a Sword cleaving off her head death.

Also, don't forget her speech about death. Death is not the end, and she didn't fear it.
She embraced it.

Flora probably accepted that it was her time to die, and she didn't want to fight. I think the Skull Knight fought to buy her time, to let her burn to death rather than let her have her head chopped off.
