I like music with a lot of feeling, and I freely admit to liking J-pop. I like stuff like T.M. Revolution, Hironobu Kageyama, Kuko, Ushio Hashimoto, Satoko Yamano, just stuff that's very cutesy but also emotional. Make me a mix.

Kojima Mayumi and ALI Project are pretty much the only J-pop I listen to outside anime OPs and EDs

I don't recognize any of the names you've put up their. They're must not be very popular...

Anyways, you should try Utada Hikaru, Melon Kinenbi, RYTHEM, Rie fu, Otsuka Ai, SNoW, and of course, Hamasaki Ayumi.

I agree with Utada Hikaru, Otsuka Ai, & Hamasaki Ayumi. I would also recommend YUI, and Mika Nakashima has some pretty good ballads :amuse.

:zaru As far as links go...i got none :sag.

How in the world is she a "queen of j pop"? Her singles don't even chart in the top 10 and she hasn't released an album yet.

IMO Ayumi has to be the 'queen of j-pop'......her music is fantastic and definitely worth listening to :amuse.

That doesn't make a person a good vocalist. It means they're popular. Popular doesn't = best. Also, how could not have heard of Hironobu Kageyama? He did the soundtrack for DBZ n' stuff. You should check out Kuko, songs like Mai Pesu and Yume No Kakera rock.

Well, she definitely is, but the other person was talking about Hirano Aya.

I think that a "queen" of something would imply that they're somewhat popular? Besides, I like Aya a bit, but she hardly is the best. And I looked up the Kageyama guy. He seems to only do anime stuff, none of any which I watch. People who only do anime songs but don't have any commercial releases don't really count as J-pop artists to me.

I was ready to give same answer as Cell did. So what that her tracks are not in Top 10? In my eyes she' ll forever be the queen of j pop just like Utada.

From what I've seen on Last FM. The reigning queen of J-pop is Ayumi Hamasaki.

Well, I've checked out some good bands. I really liked the rock groups like Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Go! Go! 7188, and Maximum the Hormone. I also checked out Hamasaki Ayumi, Utada Hikaru and some others. I'll be sure to check out a bunch more. Thanks. ^_^

She's released grand a total of...two singles. Maybe she should release an album before you consider giving her that title?
