No Geass?

MADNESS.

And I laugh at Reborn, which is good but not amazing, at #3. It's a good manga, but the anime is just pretty average.

Seems like a lot of girls voted.

No TTGL either.

Odd bunch, those Japanese..

seems like slice of life genre is more popular than action

It's probably because girls usually vote on these things in Japan more than males. Girls are like 90% of the people who send in letters and vote in the manga character polls. That's why Iruka is always so fucking high.

Most of them anime have female main characters, or female characters that are very prevalent, don't they?

Good to see non-shonen genre series to be favored by this many fans.

#3 and #6 are Shonen Jump titles.

However the majority is not. That's the main point.:amuse

No GEASS is very peculiar but that's the least of my complaints. Right on, Lucky☆Star and Kai!

I'm surprised that sola made it. I didn't think it was popular.

Girls are running the anime industry now. :arg

Girls run the popularity polls in Japan.

Boys don't like polls.

Rolling~Star

And they directly influence anime popularity by that. :arg

I find this list somewhat more agreeable than other '07 lists I've seen (including what I saw of the #11-100 of the same list, the top 10 matches but couldn't find it on the site linked).

2007 in anime can be summed up as:

Gurren Lagann
Lucky Star
Higurashi Kai
Code Gease
Clannad
and Nice Boat

No Baccano, Geass, and TTGL?

I would have at least expected Geass to be there since the elevens like CG a lot.

What the hell do you mean fangirls are to blame? Who do you think votes for lucky star, higurashi?
Lolis=male audience.

Yea blame reborn to the fangirls...But many of those titles have a large fanboy audience.

Look if fangirls really dominate things you can bet code geass would be number 1, which really was very surprising. I mean whats with the newtype poll about favorite characters in japan, it didnt mean shit?.

UNLESS, code geass was not on the choices given that most of their episodes were aired in 2006. Is got to be something like that...

BTW YAAY gintama number 6. :clap

Abou TTGL, am not surprised in the least.

I'm not surprised to hear some complaining with the Japanese choices for their top ten. Their taste is totally different from us non-Japanese. Just take this year's SaiMoe tournament as an example. :P

Oh sweet, Elevens still love Higurashi. :pleased

I think this post (http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.php?id=1709) sums up nicely some quality titles of 2007.

How come I have NEVER heard of Sola before, yet it's the most popular anime in Japan?

Oh well, Japanese buyers have the worst taste ever, so who cares.
I mean, Lucky Star? Yeah, buy the DVDs and watch the same long conversations and jokes you have already heard, again!
rewatch value = nothing

Anyways, I think the best anime of 2007 were:

Dennou Coil
Seirei no Moribito
Baccano
Gurren-Lagann

Wow.. so much disrespect to the nation that gives us the privilege of anime :/
And the best part is the majority of us steal it through the internet!
