(i'm going to copy and paste what i posted in another site. which was at anime-eden.com)

http://dattebayo.com/logo.png
you heard me. at midnight on 12/27. Dattebayo has put up their news and has been mad at the peopel who have uploaded the animes they have subbed on Streaming sites. Examples of sites are veoh and youtube. The animes are Naruto, bleach, and others. And this has been going for a long time with people and now they are being planned to be shut down. If we do not stop peopel from upload the animes on youtube. they will stop them from subbing and shut them down. ALong with bringing anime to America once more. Their topic and Discription will be posted here and i will give the site. it is the same and i had a talk with them. they are also asking you to stop and ban those people from uplouding animes they subbed because it does not belong to the uploaders. they did not have permission from dattebayo themselfs. nor did they even ask. They are going aganist the law and we're putting a stop to them and let japan keep bringing anime to america once more!

Their site of the topic: http://dattebayo.com/pr/58

This is dattebayo's own words.

Topic to people who are lazy to press the site and rather read it here:

"DB Halting Fansubbing Production Indefinitely, Effective Immediately

2007/12/27

Dear leechers,

We have warned everyone repeatedly on the issue of streaming our subs.

We sincerely appreciate everyone's efforts to spread the Naruto/Bleach love, but were growing increasingly frustrated, not to mention worried, over our repeatedly ignored requests not to upload our material to Veoh, Youtube and other streaming sites.

Perhaps you guys aren't aware, but the flagrant disregard for our requests puts us in an increasingly vulnerable position as a fansubbing group. We don't want to be shut down (which is something we are in constant threat of) and if our rules are not honored, we may well be.

Therefore we once again make this request:

* Please do NOT upload any of our released episodes to streaming sites.

Since it's hard to get people to comply just by writing in these news, we need to get your attention. So effective immediately, we are forced to stop releasing our subtitled episodes for ALL our current projects until the request is met, full stop. This includes Naruto, Bleach, Pitagora Switch and Pokemon.

We regret that we have to take such a drastic stance, but our requests have gone ignored for years. There's not much more we can do to protect ourselves and to continue bringing these episodes to fans, but we believe that taking these precautions now will keep us operational for the long run. And we hope to keep bringing these episodes to English-speaking fans for a long time. Please help us by abiding by our rules.

Here’s the issue: Dattebayo translates and subtitles anime, and released the episodes for public download on our website. Lots of well-meaning fans then take these Dattebayo episodes, re-encode / cut them into parts and upload them onto streaming sites like Youtube or Veoh. THIS IS BAD. The reason is not because Dattebayo is stupid or annoying or mean.

1. It's disrespectful to the subbers’ wishes, but more importantly,
2. Fansubbing is not legal, and with the popularity of Naruto/Bleach growing, legitimate companies have licensed them for DVD releases outside of Japan.

That makes fansubbers a target - although Dattbayo makes no money, legally the companies have all the right to shut us down. Because Dattebayo is a prominent fansubbing group, it's at constant risk and legal threat. When you put videos on Veoh/Youtube, that exposes the group and makes it a big target.

To this end, Dattebayo has politely and repeatedly asked uploaders on many streaming sites to STOP UPLOADING our files. Many people assume that the uploaders have Dattebayo's permission, but that's not true. The uploaders have basically ignored all polite requests to stop. With recent changes to Youtube "copyright enforcement" policy, it's nearly impossible to get Dattebayo material removed once it's been uploaded, therefore leaving our work in horrible quality for everyone to view.

Which is why Dattebayo has decided that we will put a hold on all our subtitled episode releases until the uploaders comply. We've been way too nice so far by letting this issue slide, but this is the end. Here's our (repeated) request to everyone who butchers our work by uploading it to streaming sites. STOP. If you're an uploader, please DO NOT UPLOAD DATTEBAYO SUBS to any more streaming sites. If you're guilty of doing this in the past, and your streaming site account is still valid, GO AND DELETE ALL THE DATTEBAYO VIDEOS WHICH BELONG TO YOUR ACCOUNT. We NEVER gave ANYONE permission to upload our work to ANY STREAMING SITE.

It might be annoying to have to figure out how to watch anime without Youtube or Veoh, but trust me, it's really not that hard. And some fans complain, "I don't know how to do it! It’s too hard! I need Veoh!" Well, if we fansubbers can figure out how to download Naruto, translate it, time it, edit it, encode it, release it - surely you can learn how to watch it. Or you can always (and should) buy the DVDs when they're released officially.

Dattebayo is providing a SERVICE - a free, fast, reliable service. Fansubbers would like to keep providing the service, so we hope everyone can understand why this decision has been made. Dattebayo's wish is NOT to shut down anime-sharing - it’s to keep it alive for the long run. Please help by considering the bigger picture.

Without streaming sites, anime-watching may become less convenient, that is unfortunately true. But it's better than shutting down fansubbing entirely - because then you'll have no anime at all.

Oh no! No more Naruto Shippuden subs! THE WORLD IS GONNA CRASH DOWN AROUND US!

Eh, doing subs is a sticky subject to start, but I don't know if they'll ever get people to stop posting their subs. They are fighting a bad fight.

Oh, and this would probably go into the forum (http://forums.narutofan.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8) where it'd be received better.

I don't keep track of subbing mishaps. Aren't these the same guys who did that really bad Virgina Tech joke? I think that was the same sub group. They did it on a Bleach episode, correct?

That Virginia Tech joke was actualy pretty funny.

Shiraishi

Can you explain it again? I forgot what it said. All I know is that it pissed off many kids. They even made small petitions to take down the subbers themselves.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was a joke. That Virginia Tech joke was actualy pretty funny.wtf are you talking about?

That was classless.

Well one of the reasons I thought it was so funny was because of how sensitive people are and I laughed at their reactions. "Boo thats not nice". Grow a sack, morons.

It was something like "(Some random statistic) less people will download this episode due to the Virginia Tech massacre."

Don't mind me though. I find a lot of very sick things hilarious.

Oh yeah, I remember that. That was really classless of them; the people who watch their subs are going out of their way to pick them. They should give damn respect to the families and just produce subs.

If they want people to show them class by not putting their shit on Youtube, they should show class and not put a tasteless joke in their subs. It is really black humor; I'm sure it was split with people who laughed and others who hated it.

I don't mean to go off on my beliefs but I'm a strong believer in free speech so if a translator feels like putting that in to a free service, then let them. Users aren't forced to download thier shit.

Shiraishi

And it really isn't against the law for them to put what DB does on Youtube. In basically all ways of the law, what DB doing is illegal and all, so they really can't ask YT to take it down. They probably won't stop. Everyone knows if they don't do subs, someone else will and they'll lose all their support when they come back.

It's dark humor; there are a lot of sites who use dark humor as it's selling point; and I do believe in free speech, but it's just a dumbass move to disrespect people dying in your subs. It's not like you're getting paid for the subs or anything, so all you have is the people downloading. Something like that could of really killed what support they have. DB seems like a fansubbing group that thinks they're bigger than their downloaders. They seem like a group that think that they are the best and that there are no other people subbing Naruto.

Naruto is probably one of the most watched series. It probably already has five or different sub groups that could take their place easily.

I hate DB's attitude twards their watchers, but I honestly did chuckle at that dark humor joke.

If DB dies, they will probably hardly be missed. The demands for Naruto are insane. The fans would get their episodes anyway.

I am a currently downloader of DB's weekly Naruto Shippuuden releases by the way. I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Db always does something like this when there is a unusual gap between planned releases, especially when it comes to naruto and bleach.

Also, i think they are too full of themselves to seriously plan on halting their subbing of either show, because w/o those 2 animes they are pretty much nothing.

And even with the miniscue chance that this is a real threat or plan, another group will pick up bleach and naruto for sure.

So im really not worried

Oh; hm, DB isn't really that special. Subbing groups should be done for fun and for appreciation. If you act like you're bigger than what you are, then you'll lose your respect and downloaders.

I think thats the reason they troll, they want to get people to realize that they shouldn't take this stuff so seriously.

And for the thousands of pissed of people.

Well, because Db has had such a sucess with subbing Naruto and bleach, nobody else has tried to pick it up. This in turn has inflated Db's ego significantly, as evident by their general attitude towards their viewers.

Yes, you are right they really arnt that special. But until / if another group successfully picks up on naruto and bleach, Db will continue to act the way they do.

I don't watch Naruto Shippuden, so I really don't care anyway. I believe they probably get donations, ect, for their work and should probably respect what their fans do and let them do it. Yes, ask them to stop, but don't be a bunch of whiners and stop.

What the hell does mean "exposes"? Do they actually think, that Anime companies don't know about their existence?
It always surprises me, when fansubbing groups think, like, they are part of some secret underground business and that people in official industries are morons, who don't know about internet existence and google search and whatever..

People WILL put releases on youtube and etc. You can shut yourself down, industry can shut you down, but then new fansubbers will come and the story will begin anew and official guys know this as well. And if Anime industry will really start a war on fansubbers, such things, like, putting videos on youtube, or not, won't matter anyway..

I say, too much overestimation and fuss..
