He may have had contact with the Sound 5, all of whom bear cursed seals, and I imagine he either inquired about it from his peers or discovered their nature on his own. After seeing it in action, I'm sure he was able to guess at Sasuke's power when the cursed seal was unleashed.

Zaku was headstrong and much too eager to please Orochimaru. It clouded his judgement and made him brash. While I believe Dosu was much smarter than your average shinobi, I think Zaku just failed to notice, or even ignored the cursed seal and hoped he would prevail.true true, but i think if Sakura didn't stop CS1 Sasuke, Dosu IMO could of taken down CS1 Sasuke

I'd like to imagine that Dosu blasting his sound amplifier would blast back the sand rushing at him. That would be one TOTALLY awesome-looking battle. <Dosu hobbling across the rooftop, blasting burst after burst of sand back with his sound, pulling off crazy flips and such while doing so. After a bit the whole roof will cave in from all the sand crashing, and the chaos continues inside the building - Dosu will charge to Gaara, and send his sound amplifier to full blast, sending Gaara flying through the building and down to the street below - as Dosu jumps down to Gaara for the finishing blow, Gaara's sand will grab and crush Dosu's arm device from behind while in mid-air - while holding Dosu up in the air, Gaara can go Shukaku-mode and rip him up, since the story seems to require it> Man, it could've made such a cool fight sequence. I mean, couldn't they have just taken out ten of the ninety minutes of Naruto and Jiraiya getting horny? Sigh... I really wish that Dosu at least died with some dignity. It's sad enough that he had to be thrown away, but did it have to be so lame? All he did was stand there when Gaara attacked... -_-

Oh well, Gaara got to die a humiliating way too! Hee hee, floating in the air for three days while suffering agonizing pain, and being able to do nothing about it! Ha ha ha, revenge is sweet? Lol, I'm just joking, just joking. I'm sad by Gaara's death too, assuming he has truly kicked the bucket.

Actually Lee was the first person to hurt Gaara.*He could barely move his arms to control his sand*, Sasuke was the first person to actually make him bleed.

Also Warcraft, Baki V Hayate was how that fight would have gone anyway. I like Hayate and all, but that wasn't even a touch and go situation.

Baki just slaughtered Hayate. He was more skilled and his style is Hayate's worst enemy.

Naruto-verse exists in Kishimoto's head, not the director of the anime. From the sounds of things he has little control on how the Anime people choose to interpret his work. Plus the anime needs to show you lots of action to keep it interesting, the manga can afford to show you only what you need to imagine it for yourself.

I liked the entire 2nd exam scene with the Sound 3.

The best Dosu moment? Hmm, perhaps when he puts his sound amplifier right up to Lee's ear and let's it go full blast (the second time). I was like "Oh, snap!" since imagining how that would feel would be pretty grating. I mean we saw how badly Lee was damaged in the first attack to begin with - the second one was like "Let's add a few hundred more nails to the coffin!" They did a pretty good job with the sound effect in the anime - it's a pretty intense attack.

I also like every time that Dosu hobbles around though. The way he walks around with his head crooked and such. His character design was really played off well. The voice for the anime worked well with it too.

Watching him hop around Chouji's rolling ball attack was pretty funny. I like how Chouji rolls in a semi-circle, while Dosu timidly side-steps each motion. I mean, talk about not breaking a sweat.

Yeah but if Naruto creates 50 clones. Dosu won't have the taijutsu to hold him off. Dosu has a 2 in taijutsu.

To fight Naruto like that, you need a pretty high taijutsu level. Dosu's only chance is if he is fast enough. Which is hard to tell.

Kiba had a 3.5 during Chuunin War. So Dosu does have a chance at that.

he loses alot of stamina but can still do alot. If it is sealed, yeah, he has no chance. But we've seen him use many clones against Haku and especially Mizuki.

Also, Tenten(anime only) might be a problem. Dosu doesn't really have much of a defense against her scrolls. Then again, Tenten would start with only a kunai or 2 and Dosu will go for the kill quickly.

Shouldn't Dosu's sound be able to affect Shino's bugs? I think Dosu would defeat Shino. I just don't think the bugs would be immune.

However, I bet Neji would be able to defend against Dosu's sound, by forcing chakra through his ears, or something to that effect. The rush of Neji's kaiten might neutralize Dosu's attacks as well.

Dosu would be able to pwn all of Naruto's clones fine and dandy, though it might be a hassle.

Tenten would be a difficult opponent... Dosu doesn't have a way to defend himself from thousands of shuriken and kunai like that. Could Dosu create a sound wave strong enough to counter all those weapons? Think I might have to give Tenten this one. Then again, I'm one of those weird people that think Tenten's attack would defeat Naruto and Sasuke.

Lee would probably just be too fast for Dosu, just like in their first fight. However, Dosu would probably be ready for Lee's Omote Renge, and have an attack in place before Lee would vanish. If Lee does get hit, Dosu will be quick to hit him again and again, to make sure he stays down. However, if Dosu hadn't seen Lee's fighting, Lee would pwn Dosu.

Kankurou would be harder for Dosu, I believe. Those many traps would push Dosu back and back. But Dosu can just block the needles with his metal arm device, which acts as a nice little shield. Dosu should be able to blast apart his puppet just like Sakura's log trap, since Dosu should be able to reach Kankurou.

Temari might be able to neutralize Dosu's sound attacks. If Dosu could get close enough though, he could blast apart her fan and then finish her off easily. I'm not very sure on this one... I'm leaning Dosu though. =P

Kiba and his puppy would both be pwned, though Dosu would have to get them when they're not doing their spinning attack (which doesn't seem to hurt a very great deal).

I'm not sure how Shikamaru would outsmart Dosu. I think Dosu gets that one.

What about Gaara? Well, we never got an answer to Dosu's "Is sound faster than sand" deal. Science dictates that sound would be faster, right? But even if Dosu successfully disorients Gaara, won't Gaara's sand still protect him? Dosu would have to sound-attack Gaara enough to KO him, so that the match will end. (Because I don't think Dosu would be able to, say, clobber Gaara with his arm while Gaara is throwing up, because the sand would still protect Gaara from injury) I hereby give this match to Dosu! YAY! As long as Gaara doesn't go Shukaku-mode, of course. But who the crap would be ready for that?

Sasuke theoretically could be able to pull of a Lion Combo like he did to Yoroi. But I think Dosu would take Sasuke out before Sasuke would come up with that.

Dosu would defeat Sakura, Ino, Chouji, Hinata, Yoroi, and Misumi as well. I'm rather sure Dosu knows his teammates well enough to defeat them too.

There... Neji and Tenten would be Dosu's greatest enemies in the preliminaries. I'm on the fence for Lee and Temari.

Random question. How come we call Dosu by his last name, instead of his first name? His name is Dosu Kinuta. (In Japan the last name AKA surname is first) Shouldn't we be calling him Kinuta? (As weird as THAT would be!) I mean, we call Naruto Naruto, not Uzumaki (and his name is Uzumaki Naruto).
Zaku Abumi and Kin Tsuchi apply as well - why do we call them Zaku and Kin, instead of Abumi and Tsuchi?

On a related note, I don't recall anyone calling Dosu by name... I mean, we see his name on the preliminaries billboard and such, but I can't think of a time where anyone says "Dosu, blah blah blah" or "Blah blah blah, Dosu."

Shino would have died from the poison and Kankurou probably would have died from the bugs.

Shino won in the sense than Kankurou failed to hold back Sasuke.

and btw, Dosu>Shino. Dosu's stats add to 16 in preliminaries, Shinos add to a 17 in the Chuunin War. So unless Shino barely trained.............Dosu would have been stronger than him.

I don't know... his sound attacks might work just fine on summons as well as people. Now that I think about it... Dosu would probably be better off than most ninjas in his skill range when it comes to handling summons especially since he can channel the sound to their ears via his chakra.

this is the first time this has been on my user CP for a while, I had no idea this fc was still alive 0.o

zaku and kin, if they came up with a good strat, could win. but dosu's the smart one on the team and zaku and kin...well are not. but maybe kin could do her little distract her opponents with bells tricks so that dosu would be open for like one second for zaku to blast him to hell. I don't know, it depends on if zaku and kin are actually strategizing and communicating or if they're blindly attacking dosu.

Sigh, I was just thinking of how Dosu could've been utilized in the series more... I'm just disappointed!! I'd say to Kishimoto "I'll never forgive you!" (in Naruto's voice). XP Okay, I'm joking... but UGH! I just think Dosu would've been a brilliant way to give a twist to the Sound Village... because for the most part everyone there's just a blind follower of Orochimaru, and likes to be evil, laugh a lot, and underestimate the good guys (Kimimaro a very thankful exception, and of course "The Survivor" Kabuto). Dosu was such a twist to that formula though... He was just such a unique character period, which I think is the main reason I'm a fan of Dosu.

I've thought of another big reason he had to be killed off though. Imagine if he went to help Naruto and Co - he'd be able to tell them where Sound Village is, right? Puts a damper in the plot.
Although, I like the idea of Dosu being his own ninja along with his comrades Zaku and Kin, which I think would not only be more interesting, but give the series a "third party." By that, I mean not for or against the "good guys" or the "bad guys" (in this case, Leaf and Sound Village). (I think Akatsuki is kind of a "third party" of sorts, for more or less being against both - so hopefully that'll be played out at some point)
But I just like the idea of Dosu and Co being a wild card in the story... I wouldn't mind if they died during the Orochimaru invasion... but it's got to be dramatic! I just feel there was so much more to learn about Dosu, and we got nothing! We got his viewpoint on several things, and there were several plot points associated with him that were created and promptly dropped alongside his death - but we didn't get any backstory or any resolution with his character... I like to imagine Dosu's past was dark, sick, and twisted. I mean, just look at him! He's so freaky-looking, yet not having the whole "Roar! I'm evil!" dealie that Gaara had. Dosu always seemed much more threatening to me... He's elusive, crafty, and collected - pretty much the opposite of the "Kill! Kill! Kill!" Gaara that sets up a tent and watches his sand fly around. (Don't get the wrong impression... Gaara's one of the greatest characters of the series and I liked what was done with him... I'm just a little bitter!!)
Okay, I'm ranting. But still... SIGH. If I had to pick one thing done wrong in the series, it'd be killing off Dosu like that. I mean, there's no problem with quickly killing bland cronies like the Sound Four, but Dosu? Why Dosu?! You set up so much with him, Kishi!

And you know? Dosu's the perfect character to cosplay... For most anime characters, it's hard to get that close to them with their spiky weird-colored hair and wacky eyes and anime-ey faces, but Dosu's got his head covered in bandages. Even the face is all covered, save one eye.

I actually would have rathered Dosu be killed by Sasuke during the Rescue arc. Would have actually made the Naruto Vs Sasuke fight more fair.

I wouldnt want the Sound Trio turning good though..........maybe join the Akatsuki as private spies against Orochamaru?
