Well, might as well start one on the genius girl Kotomi-chan. Clannad's ninth episode's preview looked promising and hilarious and foreshadow-y. Discuss her obsession for feeding people, certain honorifics, and books. Lots of books. Cutting out of them too. Vandalism. :notrust

I'm expecting Kotomi to become more social and perhaps develop a crush on Tomoya.

That would be nice.

Judging from the little available material regarding Kotomi, I can conclude two things: 1. She has been sheltered all her life, therefore extremely anti-sociable. 2. She has been bullied before, perhaps more than once.

I have great expectation for Kotomi's arc. No matter how I look at it, it's definitely gonna be better than Fuko's arc(I am not really a sucker for Lolita style. I favor story line and character development above everything else. Even graphic is secondary). Expecting some interesting stuff.

There is only one issue that I desire to address. That issue is humor. During Fuko arc, Tomoya pranked on Fuko numerous times with hilarious results. Sunohara bullied Fuko as well. Certainly it wouldn't be right for Tomoya to pull pranks on Kotomi! Umm...we shall see. There are numerous ways to compensate for the lack of pranking as long there isn't the lack of trying...

Well, Fuko's arc didn't make me shed any tears, so hopefully Kotomi's arc will be more emotional and touching.

And knowing Tomoya, I'm sure he'll pull a couple of pranks on Kotomi too. If not, we'll always have Sunohara to laugh at. xD

Last time I checked people got tired of Sunohara getting owned.:oh Or just Tomoyo owning Sunohara. Hopefully Tomoya will be able to pull out some really good pranks on Kotomi.

And we have seen the serious side of him too, so that balances things out. I wonder how Kotomi would react to Tomoya's pranks. I can't imagine her reacting in the same way as Fuko did.

^ Sunohara's serious side does balance it out. I really can't see Kotomi being pranked as much as Fuko did, and to that effect not being as funny. But I probably am wrong...

Now then, I would not be on here without crying many tears of sadness if that had actually happened. I believe that would have been very cruel of KyoAni to do that to us, and especially Fuko.

Kotomi is very much the same in terms of emotions. We see her smile, but other then that her face doesn't really hold many emotions. The only one that has shown a wide array of emotions would have to be Nagisa. (Although it is expected seeing as how she's the main heroine) Seeing Fuko cry would have been sad on it's own, and I guess maybe seeing her cry when she disappeared would have impacted me even more.

Same here. Both Tomoyo and Nagisa cried, yet Fuko possessed total immunity to tears.

Makoto's (Kanon) demise impacted me a lot, especially since her arc was the first arc. So for all the arcs after Makoto's, I half expected all the heroines after her to die as well, especially in cases of Shiori Misaka and Ayu Tsukimiya. I was really relieved when the four remaining heroines managed to stay alive(in whatever fashion) when Kanon concluded. A similar technique for Clannad would be extremely effective as well.

I'm pretty sure that you'll see your share of sadness in future arcs. That's how Key visual novels work. :amazed Hehe, kidding. But perhaps KyoAni's preparing us with happiness so that we can crash when it actually becomes the real depressing part.

From what I read from other spoiler source, Kotomi is Tomoya's childhood friend and Tomoya seem didnt remember her until he visit her house and He also finds out that Kotomi’s parents died in a plane crash and she’s felt guilty because the last thing she said before they left is that she “hates” them for not being around on her birthday....and she sucks at playing violin..

i hope that tomoya doesn't do pranks on kotomi just for fun and laughs. i expect him to be able to adapt to any situation and make me laugh with a different gag.

I think Tomoya will have to show some development in regards to his nonchalant and sometimes mocking attitude toward others as the arc moves along. Kotomi's not one to make fun of. :wink

I watched all 10 eps of Clannad recently, and thought tt was pretty good.

Since i'm a noob, I have some questions which I would love if you answered.

1. Who produces Clannad

2. When does it come out

Clannad was a visual novel game (sort of like a choose-your-own-adventure anime-style game; most people just make it synonymous with dating sims) produced by Key. Key is mostly known for making this and two other visual novel games: Air and Kanon.
Upon adaption to an anime, Clannad (as well as Air and Kanon, some time ago) was put in the hands of Kyoto Animation.

I have to admit, Kotomi's arc is far more interesting than Fuko's. Kotomi's likability is way way higher than Fuko's!

But I'm really liking this arc too. Kotomi is so spacey, but we're getting a reason why. Tomoya really sells himself short, especially if he's doing all that stuff in the preview for next week out of concern for Kotomi. Delinquents don't do that kind of stuff.

And I'm really happy she's still around too. :D "Why did I say that was a star?" too cute, they do remember, somewhere deep in their hearts. And "reunion" sounds hopeful!
