Ignore everything after Watanagashi and it is.

It can't be school days. How dare you compare Keiichi to Makoto? XD

How dare you compare it to to LS.
You know, the question arcs did include a lot of slice-of-life moments initially before the plot thickens. Club activities all the time like the awesome water gun moments. Of course, being solely slice-of-life means there would be no murder mystery and would lose its credibility and originality.

So I wonder what episode it would be where Keiichi talks with the others on how to properly eat a chocolate cornet? I mean that's just a half hour of gold right there. XD

Yeah but I think it would be rather cute to see it as just a slice of life comedy. I think it could work with the dynamics of the club.

Maybe it would be a comedy\harem anime centering around K1.
That's what I thought when I was watching the first episode. :amuse

I wouldn't mind that. K1 being all GAR and manly trying to woo Rena, Mion, and Shion XD

I dunno if I'd like it. Mabye if it was a comedy, romance, drama; something like Kanon. I have a hard time watching animes that are based around comedy alone.

Casey and Friends would probably make a decent series :awesome
In all honesty, the comedy, slice of life aspect of the series is pretty enjoyable as a stand alone. Throw in some romance and I wouldn't mind watching it :nod

I'll agree with that. Its just too bad we hardly get any romance in the actual series XD

So I wonder what episode it would be where Keiichi talks with the others on how to properly eat a chocolate cornet? I mean that's just a half hour of gold right there..First of all, you're basing this off one freakin' episode. IIRC, you said yourself you stopped watching. Could you actually base something on a series you completed because that's not what the series was about at all.
Yeah but I think it would be rather cute to see it as just a slice of life comedy. I think it could work with the dynamics of the club.It works for a while but then it would probably go stale. We're giving up a unique storytelling for the same comedy we can watch anywhere else. I'm perfectly satisfied with the side humor we've gotten in both season.

Higurashi won't be as popular as it is right now if it was just a slice-of-life series to begin with. But I guess I'll just play along.
Higurashi becoming a slice-of-life series does sound like the Misadventures of Casey and Friends becoming a reality, like showing a lot of batsu games where Keiichi always lose. Or I can imagine it being a harem series with Keiichi at the helm, of course. I can't imagine him being a douchebag like Makoto though.

Why are you taking it personally? I wasn't even going for that. I was just ribbing ya. Wasn't trying to be offensive or anything. Would it have been in better taste had I watched all of Lucky Star and THEN said that?

Which is pretty much why all slice of life shows get dull as heck... or in the case of certain shows never getting off the ground in regards to "funny" in the first place... but I feel Higurashi's cast is diverse enough that it could work in a slice of life fashion. I doubt the humor could get all that stale. Especially if it was just one 26 episode season.

The only slice of life I ever enjoyed was Lucky Star. Haruhi was great also but I dont consider it slice of life because it had a bunch of other elements.

Would it have been in better taste had I watched all of Lucky Star and THEN said that?Actually, if you did, I wouldn't think you would even say that at all. It's not so much personal, but I just get irritated by people only going for that as what it was about. Not everything in there was random after all. But sorry about going off-tangent like that; my demeanor isn't running so much today.

I most likely would never be that interested in it as much. If I had to choose slice-of-life and thriller/mystery/horror, definitely the latter because there's not many anime of that genre, let alone one so unique like this.

I just had a hahrd time keeping my interest in it. I know I make jokes and everything but I'm not like those people on /a/ who despise Lucky Star and everything KyoAni. I respect that people like Lucky Star and in a way I can understand why some may like it. Heck if there was more anime tenchou I probably would have loved it more myself, but after the first three episodes I just got tired of asking myself when it was going to get good.
I guess I'm just not into the average slice of life series. Same reason I couldn't get into Azumanga Daioh.
Still I'm sorry if I offended you or something.

Well true, but I mean when you hear the drama CDs and all, which are pretty much pure humor it kinda makes you think that Higurashi as a slice of life series really wouldn't be so bad.

Slice of Life ...I don't think I've ever really seen an anime like that to compare it to, so I dunno xD
I sure like the way Higurashi does it though. With all the violent mutilation and psycho stuff, it makes you appreciate the club activities, festival shennanigans, baseball.. etc. a lot :laugh

Well slice of life would be just your regular high school series like Lucky Star or Hidamari Sketch.
lol but I agree though. You tend to appreciate all the happy moments of Higurashi more once the psycho stuff starts.

Still I'm sorry if I offended you or something.Well, it definitely wasn't average, that's for sure. And don't worry about it. I know you meant no harm by it. Though it's a miracle you even still kept up with the thread and everything, especially with Anizawa showing up later. That alone I would think should make you watch at least those episodes, but 'ey, I don't persuade.

For a while now, I actually do miss the times when I suspected nothing out of Rika and she was just an innocent ni~pahing character. I also wished there was more of Ken-chan. I always thought that was sheer random goodness.

Haven't seen those yet :(
I watch more actiony anime :iria atm at least. Haruhi is probably the least action I've gotten (though I still have 5 episodes till I'm done with it)
I can't believe how well this show does the two sides of the spectrum ~pure cruelty vs pure fun. Never seen anything like it :amuse

Meh I may just grant it a second watch if I get really bored and have nothing else to do. I mean it probably wouldn't be that hard considering. It was pretty easy to keep up with the thread though. I just wish I had gotten excited about more than just anime tenchou though, and honestly I felt at times they went a little overboard with the Haruhi references.
Well they could even keep Hanyuu in there as well. Wouldn't be too hard I would think. Besides it needs Hanyuu. XD
and of course in the spirit of casey and friends we'd have popsicles, pinatas, fiestas and lactosintolerance.

You probably wouldn't like them then Santen, but then again Haruhi is considered slice of life in a way so I think maybe I'm wrong.
and indeed. It's great to see pure insanity and pure fun mixed together to make such a fun series.

Haruhi has enough drama in it for me to enjoy it.
I only watched Lucky Star because I liked the character designs.

I probably wouldn't even be watching it since I don't really like Slice of life.
