View Full Version : The Festival Closing Party

I know this is too early, but we all know that at the end of the week, the Higurashi sub-forum is no more. And I've decided to open-up a week-long party to close the fiesta.

So, to those who have joined (and enjoyed) the festivities for the whole month, what can you say about how everything turned out?

Let me have my say.

I said this in the home thread - I never really expected Higurashi to have its own sub-forum (for some reasons), and I was quite surprised by the turn-out of votes of NF users that led Higurashi to be AotM.

Eventually, I had accepted the result and found myself enjoying the whole month. Enjoying, in the sense of watching newbies get confused/dumb-founded/mind-fucked. :P Seriously, the best part about the whole festival was getting to hear from (and meet) people who I don't usually see posting in the home thread, not to mention, hearing raves about how good Higurashi is for them. That simply caused the "village" to somewhat increase in number. :amuse

And who can't forget about result of the SaiMoe tournament? I mean, everyone who was rooting for the remaining Higurashi girls was just tense. I know it was not as cut-throat as the discussions in other forums, but admittingly, I felt the tension. I wasn't able to work normally because I wanted to know how the tournament was going. Ultimately, all has been said about Rika becoming the SaiMoe Queen for this year. :nod

Lastly, all I have to say is that I really had fun the whole month. And even after the festival ends, we'll go back to our normal lives in the home thread, and still engage in such interesting discussions about this wonderful series.

Anyway, before I start to :cry, I'm passing the mic to someone else. Thank you.

Paul the SK

It was an excelent run. SaiMoe was definately a trip. Since this section opened, I don't think I've had discussions this good EVER on NF.

Though I wish this forum would stay open until Kai's finale; we atleast squeezed it in during Kai's peak of popularity. Looks like I'll be living in the home thread after this run.

This Festival sure was fun, I had a very nice time doing what I could. :amuse
I met a lot of fun and interesting people here. :nod

As for SaiMoe...

:yell< All hail Queen Rika! >

This was an extremely fun month on this forum. I checked here nearly every day to see if there's any new discussions. It was the month that I frequented the most to NF. It'll be all gone by the end of this month, and even more so when the series ends in four weeks. :cry

I propose we have a last week rush to reach/break 2000 posts! :P :laugh

I spent more time on NF this month than I ever have too. ^^

While I was mainly supposed to be here helping T***, I spent more time posting in the Higurashi board I think... :sweatdrop

While I joined about six months ago, I've only been active for this one month.

I've posted about 450 times this month I think, that's an unusually high amount for me. I guess that speaks to how interesting everyone here is. :P

I wonder what everyone is going to do once the Festival is over...

My anime life goes on. There are lots of other anime to watch. Although I doubt I'll find another series that had taken over me like Higurashi did.

Yeah, talking about Higurashi is pretty fun. :amuse

I think I'll move on to the Clannad AotM sub-forum when this is done but I don't think it has quite as much to talk about as Higurashi. None of the new candidates are quite on the level of TTGL or Higurashi yet...

That's a sad thought, what if each AotM got worse than the previous. :oh

MarthX7
11-26-2007, 05:27 AM
I watch other shows like Clannad but I have no motivation to talk about them. Higurashi is one of the few shows that makes me want to discuss it.

Vegitto-kun

Paul the SK
11-26-2007, 05:38 AM
Yeah, its not like I don't watch and enjoy other shows, I just think that TTGL and Higurashi are some of the best.

I voted Clannad because I'm watching it but I doubt I'll ever talk about it.

Clouds-Are-Nice
11-26-2007, 05:50 AM
I'm KyoAni addicted so I'll be able to talk about Clannad, but I don't know if it'll have the same level of discussion as Higurashi. It's still pretty early for the Fall season anime...

I doubt there'll be anything as exciting as Rika's one-in-a-million SaiMoe victory happening for Clannad.

dspr8_rugged
11-26-2007, 08:59 AM
Meh, I'm not really a KyoAni person. In CLANNAD's case, I just need my fix of light-hearted anime.

I guess Gundam 00 will keep me company until Code Geass 2 comes. :spaz

But I admit, there's no other anime around that is like Higurashi.

I've enjoyed getting in of the festivities. I still remember the craziness that was marathoning the first season over a day or 2 in the pitch black, wee hours of the morning. Then I caught up with kai much more slowly, started reading all the topics (including the onese I couldn't previously cus of spoilers) and got into the discussion a little bit.

I guess in this fiesta I would be the guy at the snack bar, sitting back, drinking everything in, and tossing out little bits of conversation when needed.

Thanks guys. It was fun. Here's to Casey and Friends finally breaking through and getting the candy in that piñata we call life.

*raises drink*

...guess I'm checking out CLANNAD next >.> but see you all in the main thread :D

Meh popular with the weeaboo you mean...

Honestly what's so great about stuff that KyoAni makes? Not like there's anything special about it.Well the first and most obvious reason is because they have outstanding animation. It doesn't take long to do it either, unlike most studios, which do but then the episode turns out shoddy. Compare Toei's Kanon to KyoAni's Kanon and you can see the huge difference. Next thing is that the Key games they animated (AIR, Kanon) are very popular among the audience. Not only does it stay consistent with the game story, they even use the game music that every loves so much. CLANNAD's no different.

If KyoAni got Higurashi in the first place I assumed they would have used the original game music next to their great detail. Now, it's fine if you don't care for KyoAni. No one's forcing you to involve yourself in CLANNAD but it's AotM. Besides, it's arguably the best out of the three selections. I can't imagine have a whole subsection for Bamboo Blade, which looks like it's only 12 episodes long.

Its just the major drawback for most of us is comparing Clannad with Gurren Lagann and Higurashi. Sure Clannad is the best out of December's nominations but man... far from epic.

It'll be lucky if the section breaks the 1000 post mark.

As far as animation goes I hardly doubt I'd see that much of a difference. Personally I thought Haruhi was the reason everyone loved KyoAni.

and I'm not saying I hate KyoAni either. Just don't get the big deal with it. People treat it like it's the Akira Toriyama of animation studios. I just don't get that...

Oh well it's sad to see the fiesta is over. It was a fun fiesta though and very enjoyable.

I share your POV, I don't really care about the studio either. The only thing that matters is, if I enjoy the anime.
The only case I'm interested by the studio, is if they are working on other projects than the one I wish they do.
