I'm a huge Berserk-fan, so I was just wondering. IMO, it's probably one of the best, most masterfully told stories in anime.. nothing even comes close in realism and depth. Besides, who doesn't like Gatsu? He's the classic badass, as someone else put it, who doesn't put up with any BS, be it from God, demon or man. Berserk may not be very pretty (it's in fact very ugly), the music blows and the title theme is akin to nails on chalkboards, but it all makes up for it with the story. I can' t think of any other anime that manages to do that! :)

Personally I like both the Berserk manga (especially!) and the anime a lot more than Narutos manga and anime, I hate the dragging on and filler eps of Naruto. imo Naruto stopped beeing great at the end of the water country and went downhill during the chuunin prelimineries 8P

Yup, the manga is awesome (read all volumes). I think the long breaks between volumes is inexcusable though, even more considering how slow the plot progresses.

You can download the manga from The Hawks (http://www.thehawks.org). I've bought the ones that are available from Dark Horse (1-6), and you should too, but if you don't have the money or want to start from where the anime ends (around volume 13-14), that's your only choice.

Berserk is great. I've only seen like 3 episodes of the anime, can't find a good quality sub or even dub. But I've read up to Volume 28 in the manga, this manga is great though it can tone down on the orgies...

It's still going on in Japan. Releases ever 2 weeks(aside from the breaks as mentioned before). Only at chapter 255 though even though it's been running for 15 years due to it's release rate and some breaks but the detail is as awesome as ever or rather more so.

Well it's no record as there are mangas that have been runnings since the 60s or 70s(I think there are 2 or 3, or at least that I know of).

Nah, I don't think it's going to be over any time soon. Doesn't seem close to an ending at all. In fact more like a 'beginning'Regarding Gutts finally starting his path to becoming lik the Skull Knight. And the "Berserk"er Armor.. Hajime No Ippo has been going on has long and has 691 chapters and still weekly. But not complaining, Berserk is quite detailed...

Thanks for the link on the manga, I have Berserk on DVD, I bought all them about 3 or 4 years ago when it first came out. English sub on it was done well I thought. It good story but I was always told that the anime differs form the manga in that it left some of the characters out like the Fairy and some other that are team up with Gattsu. Not sure but I going to start DL the manga now.

The anime mainly focused on the Flashback part of Berserk. The first episode was just to introduce the "new" Gattsu, known as the Black swordsman. All the other episodes explain how he got there.

And for a side note, there is a small ending after the credits on the last episode, jsut in case some people didn't notice it. If people are like me, they close their movieprog when the credits appear...

And they left out the skull knight that saves Guts and Casca when the fifth god hand is born. He was my fav character. There are some rumors that they will continue the anime once the manga has gotten ahead some more, since its such a high detailed manga it takes a long time to make every chapter. Right now a chapter takes about 1 month and 1 week to finish.

The latest issue of Anime Insider talked about more Berserk anime and the outcome looks rather negative. It probably won't be happening anytime soon.

... The Show, covers the "Golden Age & lightly shows the Black Swordsman arc". However their are differences: gone is puck, The Skull Night, + the Knights of the Holy See [Note these are only in Manga].

What the show does masterfully is showing how Gattsu goes from a lone fighter to a member of a mercenary group led by a caresmatic leader Griffith
who "Tragically" falls from grace & sacrifices everyone to attain his goal. As
a consequence of this betrayal Gattsu pursues "Femto" across the lands
of Midland.

For the talks of a Berserk Series 2: I assume that once the Millennium Falcon
arc ends & the author is in the middle of the following arc that the show might return.

I loved the anime, don't ridicule it so hard. What happened was that the show was planned to last 25 episodes, they had to squeeze as much of the flashback arc in there as possible.

Things that were left out:
-Puck (in the first episodes)
-The Evil Count
-The Bakiraka
-The King's incest fantasies
-Wyald
-Skull Knight

Personally, I regret Puck and Wyald being cut. Puck because he's likable and relieves tension. Wyald because he's the first full-blown Apostle that Guts had to kill.
Could Puck be reintroduced in the second series? Yes.
Could Skull Knight? Yes.

It's not a huge loss. They planned the show as best as they could.

Anyhoo, comparing the anime to the manga is like comparing masturbation to sex. It's just not a fair point.

Here are the outtakes. If you haven't seen the series, some of them may not akign any sense. My favorite one has to be the final volume, Griffith singing the Little Mermaid song.

No, there will be no continuation of the anime. Its not realy needed because the manga is far ahead the anime would be playing catch up the whole time, and it would be awhile for the anime to finish.

I saw the first volume of Berserk (anime) and I needed more. The fact that the hero's name is Guts makes him even more of a badass :P . I really wonder how the rest of the story will unfold.

I haven't read any manga just watched the anime series. And the ending really blows. It didn't make sense at all. It really put a sour taste on the whole Beserk world for me. It was nicely built up, good characters (though some not explored more), love triangles, cool battles, awesome man character... but the ending.. ARRGHHHH!!

The anime wasn't too bad...obviously it doesn't compare to the manga but it was still pretty good imo. It would've been impossible for them to cover everything in 25 episodes they did a decent enough job with what they had. It sucks that they left out the skull knight but where the anime ended he would've seemed like a pointless character with only 1 or 2 scenes so it made sense that they left him out.
probably only 1 scene cause they made it seem like Rickert died in the anime so they wouldn't have had SK saving him
I do wish they would've made a 26th episode and not end it like they did tho cause that was a really dumb move..but otherwise I'd still recommend the anime.
