I know there probably is a thread like this, but after looking 15 pages deep, I gave up. So, I made my own.

Have you ever played the two games? What did you think about them? Which was your favorite?

I have both for PC and they are absolutely wonderful. I wish Lucasarts hadn't pushed TSL into stores before it was finished.:cry

I loved the first one, but never got around to playing the second.

I would advise you to play the second when Team Gizka finishes their mod that restores cut content. It's a much more original storyline that had potential, but all the last-minute cuts really pulls it down.

The setting makes the first game. Without it, it'd be just moderately good, with the annoying combat system, mediocre dialogue and story, and not many good roleplaying options.

The second one has better plot and writing, but it suffers from the butchered ending.

The fuck? :huh

First KotOR has the better story, but the second has the more polished look and superior gameplay.

I would vote Kreia to be one of the cooler Jedi's in all of Star Wars and the Starforge was a damn good level.

Well, now that's a nice opinion, completely different from my own.

What's so good about KOTOR1's story? It had one big twist, not that hard to predict, searching for the Starmaps was a weak storytelling device (aka "Collect the 7 Amulets of Mongogrim to defeat the Evil Emperor"), and the main villain was as cliche as it could get. And the second game did have a more interesting cast of companions, in my opinion at least.

Furthermore, did KOTOR2 improve the gameplay in some non-marginal way? I certainly didn't notice. Also, how can it feel more "polished", if it was released unfinished and cut? Unless you just mean the graphics, in which case, yet again, I haven't noticed any difference.

Yeah, Karsa's opinion is rather backwards, IMHO.

Kotor 1 was a polished, completed game, it had great graphics (Bad frame rate, though), good dialogue, great voice acting, good characters, great setting, and great storytelling. Its cons were a rather generic plot and a villain who took to much laughing gas.

Kotor 2, however, was a rough, unfinished game, it had the same graphics, good dialogue, great voice acting, great setting, great plot, and good storytelling. The problem was with all the cut content. It did slightly improve gameplay, with slightly improved interface and ways to apply all of your skills in conversations, not just Persuade.

I loved the first one, played through it several times. Malak may have been a cut and paste villain, but he fit in perfectly with the story. I think the ending kind of made up for it, since he even admitted to being a pathetic failure, who was nothing more than Revan's bitch. You don't need brilliant character design to fulfill that role. The story was average, but the characters and their interactions with each other were great. Given, it's no Mass Effect, but you can see where Bioware developed the idea from.

The second one was good, but I was kind of disappointed for some reason. It's not just the cut content either. The whole mood of the game just felt..different. I got as far as the last level where the Mandalorians were defeated, and made a couple new profiles to play through it differently, but I never actually finished the game. I had alot of fun finding and meeting the Jedi masters, but it got pretty dull after that. Nihilus was a let down as well. He seemed like a total bad ass, but was just way to easy. Even Vrook was stronger than him. Sion was kinda 'meh' IMO. Kreia was interesting, but gave off a creepy pedo-grandma vibe that I didn't like. The other characters didn't really stand out to me either, except for maybe Visa.

I loved both of them, but I probably liked the first one more... maybe.

The first one had a better story, because it had an ending (the first time through the second one I didn't even have her tell my future), and because I wasn't looking for the twist. The second one (ignoring the hideously boring for city) had better quests and things to do, and the characters were better fleshed out - although you could easily tell how much content was cut.

Overall, I think the first was better just because it was such a refreshing experience. (also, I loved the combat from both games, a great implementation of turn based combat in my opinion)

These games were my favorite rpgs to play.

I thought both games had a great storyline and gameplay. I found the second ending to be... eh, but if Kreia loved you then the storyline was better.

Also, one day i was searching the intrawebs to find out what the real ending was and it was GREAT. I didnt really even need to play the end part of the game after i read the script for it.

I played both and got to say that I loved them! I think KOTOR 1 had the better story to go with it while the second had the gameplay going for it despite the cuts. I am hoping for a re-release should Lucasarts decide to include the content cut from the final product of KOTOR 2. But that's wishful thinking... :LOS

HK-47 made KOTOR absolute win for me...

Here's to KOTOR 3 on the 360! :amuse

It's possible that the next KotOR will be a MMORPG, seeing as the developer of the first, Bioware, recently signed on with Lucasarts for making a Star Wars MMORPG. I don't know whether to like or dislike the possibility.

Darth Nihilus is the best character ever.Might have been, had he not been a complete pansy in kotor... Less than 2 second kill >_<

I felt quite robbed.
