I'm sure there's a Hellsing thread but not all Hellsing fans would be jumping at the opportunity to click on a new post in the thread. Well kids, hell has officially frozen over and shattered all known anime logic when it comes to series that have already ended. Geneon is working on making a Hellsing OVA! Now let the rumors of new Bebop and Trigun begin! heh :smile-big

Proof can be found here

Everyone keeps raving about the manga, but I have never seen it anywhere for DL *sniffles*

If it is animated, it will definitely be a dl, because in my experience animated Hellsing is just "o.k."

Hellsing did good in anime form for me too. As I am even more of a manga reader than anime(if that wasn't too obvious...) I still liked the anime. I'm currently reading the manga and will still say the anime was good.

I was exposed to the anime first... and I really liked it, I think that the manga was a little too muddled. I think that an OVA could be great the anime ended at a very odd place.

Ugh the anime was a bit dissapointment it was greatly overated I kept hearing hype around it I decided to watch it saw the trailer first it left me saying "woah" :P Then I saw the entire TV series it left me saying "Well that was a huge let down" :notrust . I keep hearing good things about the manga though since the news says that the OVA will stay truer to the manga than the TV series did then there's a chance the OVA could end up good but then again it could end up being a dissapoitment all over again. :notrust

yeah there is a new Hellsing anime being labeled as Hellsing Ultimate (OVA). It is getting it from the manga. no word on how many episodes but the length of the episodes are rumored to be at 35 minutes each. that is like 10 minutes more than the old anime. It will have the same voice actors or at least the ones listed are the ones for Integra, Victoria, and you guessed it the immortal vampire known as Alucard. Though I pretty much put in all these info. I got the link where it was in with the other thread.

I personally prefered the Dub of Hellsing to the sub. Nearly all the voices, but then I only saw few subbed episodes.

I disliked how Anderson was played off after I read the manga...

Hangatýr
06-11-2005, 10:53 AM
I also think most voices in the dub are better, but Alucard's is an exception. I never read the manga, but I heard it was way better than the anime, and the anime was awesome =D

From what i have heard about the new ovas they are suppose to be more focused on the manga storyline.

Ya the Japanese seiyuu was really really badass and awesome. just deep and scary. The dub though i agree was HORRIBLE they went way overboard on making it feel like it was English(as in the country). Every character besides Alucard had an obnoxious cockney British accent. Very poor planning by the dubbers.

Still going strong (at least I'd say). The manga is monthly.

CABLE
06-11-2005, 10:50 PM
i hate monthly mangas i mean seriously, a whole month it takes them to crank out around 30 pages of content. but still they are usually great because they are really quality(they better be to make us wait a month). like FMA and Hellsing. and anyway, why do some manga have only a chapter a month?

I was reading this anime magazine (Anime Insider) and came across and awesome bit of news. They are releasing a brand new OVA for Hellsing. It will most likely include many of the old characters (ALucard, Victoria, Integra, ect..)
There is not much news about it yet, but it is closely associated with the manga, and it seems something catastrophic is going on in London. Anyways, its going to be a strait to DvD release, and I hope a fansub jumps on it riight away ^^

The anime you saw is not based on the manga, atleast the last episodes aren't, that is because they needed to finish it off quikly, there is not going to be an episode 14 but there are going to be new episodes, having another storyline truely based on the manga this time, or so they say, it seems so far pretty good :0

Care to elaborate on why, you have such a pessimistic view of the new OVA?

I don't think any part of the trailer deserves such an reaction, especially considering that it was basically just a put-together of a few scenes from the manga in animated form (and a few "original" ones), which really does not give much to base the quality of the new OVA on.

Just finished downloading it, only had a chance to watch part of it yet, but appearantly it's a 30 minute "preview" thing for the OAV I think or something like that, it aired yesterday. So the OAV should come out on February 10th still.

But from what I've seen of the "Digest for Fleaks"(which was great), I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm pumped to watch this even if it's not a real episode (downloading now), but... err... "Digest for Fleaks"? :/ Dammit, how hard is it to get an English speaker handy for these things, or at least a dictionary?

Edit: Looks like a real episode to me...

Edit again: Wait, so this was just a congested form of the real OVA's first episode, correct? It was missing quite a bit, after all. Almost without transition between Seras waking up and the Sword Dancer chapters. But what was there... awesome. My only grievances are the priest vampire's rather tame VA, a few speech animations and Anderson's "amen" (which might improve or grow on me anyway). The action choreography certainly made up for it though, and I've fallen in love with the voices all over again.

The regeneration scene gave me a boner.

Actually, the whole thing did.

Sorry.

Nope. First of all, this is only a preview (though a rather large one...), I think the whole thing is supposed to be 50 minutes. Also, the OAV is supposed to cover the rest of the manga supposably so it'd obviously release every few months, maybe a bit longer when it's close to catching up.

Bakafish has translated Hellsing Ultimate OVA Episode 1 Digest For Fleaks. This is not the complete episode, but 3 scenes from it. It's about 27 minutes long and is indeed the new hellsing anime. It is pure awesome.

This is the "Digest" version. It's what they released to show how it was looking and give everyone a preview of what the OVA will look like when finished. This contains two very large scenes that will be from the actual OVA when it airs on TV this February or March.

Don't let the word "preview" fool you though, it's not like those "making of" things that get released before the anime airs, this is 27 minutes of actual scenes. As in, it contains how Seras becomes a vampire and the fight between Anderson and Alucard.

A good portion of the Bakafish are old staff from nf, Pre-angelic. Bakakage was what happens when you have a forum overrun with power hungry nuts, and people want out. (actually bakakage was the "group" of coolz admins and mods from pre-angelic and we just carried the name over). Yay for history.

And on a somewhat related transitional note, Bakafish have been at the subbing/scanlating game for a couple years, but just didn't release often. WOWZ EVAN DID NAROOTOE LOLZ!!11!11

Now to the OVA; No it is not the preview. The preview was 2 scenes from the OVA. 27 minutes of the OVA was all the preview was, however the OVA itself is 50 minutes long. And it wasn't a "preview" it was a digest episode.

Just watched it and i have to say, my expectations were fulfilled. The first ep has got me hooked altough it covered most of the earlier series.

Alucard is still as badass as ever, same goes for Integra. Alex Anderson was cooler than in the tv-series, mostly due to better graphics, while I liked Seras Victorias earlier character design more. It's not so much her behaviour, she's still a great character, but her previous image (especially haircolour :() was nicer there. But that's just a minor flaw. The series' overall package is still badass.

And because we did that, you were reading dialog that you were used to. That was the whole reasoning behind that. Considering the characters were saying exactly what was said in the manga, and we already have a translated version of the manga, why would anyone reinvent the wheel? We did fix a number of the translations to make them work better and be more accurate, but if there's already a pretty good translation out there, why do it again?

I have mixed feelings for the OVA. I hated the old anime-series for screwing up the manga, and was really looking forward to the OVA which was supposed to follow the manga. However the first episode was somewhat of a disappointment. It was very rushed and felt very incoherent. However I think they have caught the characters better, than the first series and I like the animation and art. I just hope they will slow down, and have all the events from the manga in the next episodes, unlike the first one where a lot was cut. At leas I know that they will follow the original plot with the Nazis and so on this time, which is one advantage it has over the old series. Too early to pass judgement on the OVA, but the first episode left a lot to be desired.

Does that mean the OVA 2 - ?? will follow the Manga story?

Well actually the OVA 1 followed the manga almost word for word. So I guess we can say that Yes, it will follow the manga story. I personally loved the OVA because the manga was loads better than the original 13 episode series.

8/2/06

I've just watched the first episode and I must say that it's 100% better than the tv series. Only thing which could be better was the music.

And for those wondering, it will follow the manga step by step, there's a 5 minutes trailer out there, with scenes of every arc/battle up till the latest chapters which came out.

Well its basically a retell and more, its based more on the manga... i think..

Zaru

Wait, based on the manga?
That would be totally awesome, because

I always wanted to see the london massacre and seras going vampire animated :wtf

Yeah.

The original 13 episode series went off onto its own storyline on episode 7, introducing a new Villain. However, now that the manga is quite far ahead, the anime studio who did the original series have started creating the "Ultimate Series" of Hellsing which is an OVA series, containing all new animation, direction, music and action. Each one follows a volume of the Manga.

The first one was released in February and took the story of the first volume, this second episode does the whole story of the second volume. And it is this point where the series stopped copying the manga. So from episode 3 onwards will be completely unseen animated before.

hmm...

I personally liked the Hellsing manga WAYYYYYYYY more than the anime... The subtle differences made all the difference. And OVA 1 is beyond amazing. I think it may take the spot of one of the best pieces of anime I have ever watched... Along with the Kenshin Ova and Cowboy Bebop: the movie.

Why is it taking so long to release the 2nd OVA episode?

BTW, how long is this upcoming episode going to be? I hope it's 50 minutes as opposed to standard 20 min.

I will definetily not be 20 min. I think it will be as long as episode one which I think was 50 minutes or so.

Yeah it seems they're going to try and make each OVA episode = One manga volume.

Anyway, can't wait to see the rest of the manga animated. :D

The manga currently has eight volumes released in Japan (seven in the United States), and some other chapter releases that will eventually go into the ninth. Hirano has stated that he plans for ten volumes, which is a reasonable estimate by this point...

While I enjoyed Gonzo's music with the original series, I'm liking the OVA so far. As mentioned earlier, once we're done with this second episode, things finally go off to follow the manga properly, which is going to be one hell of a ride. Judging from the previews, we'll eventually get to see everything from the manga in animated form.

On a related note, Geneon plans to release the first episode of Hellsing Ultimate in December, if I recall correctly.

And OVA 1 is beyond amazing. I think it may take the spot of one of the best pieces of anime I have ever watched... Along with the Kenshin Ova and Cowboy Bebop: the movie.

Watch more anime. Seriously.

Gawd I can't wait.

I haven't seen ep 1 for a while now, but I remember getting a bit bored of it (Especially in the scene where Alucard was shooting all of the priest's ghouls. It was meant to be stylish but just felt dragged out for me and my friends) but that could most likely because we know that part of the story so well.

However, I can't wait for Crispin Freeman's take on it. He's just recently signed the contract for the episode.

I don't really like the Dub for Hellsing...b/c dubbing tends to not capture the way the Jap Voice actors talk with emotions. But that's my opinion...so go ahead if you guys like the dub..The Jap V.A for Alucard is cool enough for me, I mean his voice fits him WELL!

They are zipped, u guys can open them with winrar

download all three parts and unzip part 1 with all 3 parts on the same directory, if the files' name are different from eachother, rename them, then begin unzipping them, for example:

Hellsing Ultimate OVA - Ep 2 (XviD-RAW-BoH).part1
Hellsing Ultimate OVA - Ep 2 (XviD-RAW-BoH).part2
Hellsing Ultimate OVA - Ep 2 (XviD-RAW-BoH).part3
