Sorry I don't buy that. My parents hit us and it served as a damned good deterrent and didn't make me overly aggressive. Not only that but the most aggressive kid I ever met, his parents were jehovah's witnesses and never hit him, but he was still really aggressive.

As long as you don't go wild on a kid and beat them excessively or for no good reason, it works just fine and has for thousands of years.
