Hey everyone lets stop spamming up the Battle thread. Please use this thread to conversate about anything pertaining to the battles going on in the official battle thread. Any spamming will not be tolerated and a Mod will be notified if you are a chronic offender. The only ones posting in that thread should be judges and participants with there verses. Also requests can be made in the official rap battle thread. Use this thread for questions and commentary.

It is 3 judges, but:

Once a battle is decided by a judge, other judges can comment on the battle if they wan't, but their decision will not count in deciding the winner. it's basically first to judge it is the only to judge it.

It's like that.

If it's really needed, we could make it takes all 3 judges to decide to win, but that'd take longer, and then it'd be treating each battle as if it were a major important title battle.

I say we should change it that you need the 3 judges to vote, and whoever gets 2 votes wins, only for #1 #2 and #3 rank positon battles though.

This would be a good idea. Also, it would also be a good idea if there were anyway you could go into the first couple of posts and change them around a bit seeing as you are like the 2nd host in here.

Battles can occur simultaneously. Just choose someone from the list in the OP that you want to challange and decide whether you want it to be 1 or 2 rounds and if said opponent accepts, then you're ready.

Daaaaaaaamn. sel is still killin it. If I was a judge I'd give it to sel too. Mostly for the first verse. US threw out a water tester while sel went straight at US putting him up from the gate. When US finally started attacking he didn't come with anything that sel couldn't match and sometimes it felt like he was talking too much about himself rather than trying to throw blows at sel (which is odd considering the metaphor both of them were playing on: Boxing. So many opportunities there. "Liver Blows", "Knock Outs", "One Hitter Quitters", "Uppercuts", "Down for the count" etc.. A lot of terminology that could have been used to go at the opponent.)

A clique is a exclusive circle of people with a common purpose..Our Purpose is music. Not everyone enjoys music as much as those who regular here do. While alot of people listen to music, they do not lListens to music.

A community is more broad and those who are members of it share a common interest which differs from a common purpose. A clique's purpose is to promote an idea, or come to an overall conclusion while working together to the benefit of all who are apart of it.

Kush definitely killed it, though. Parried all CB's thrusts and mixed up his lines with multis, metas, and overall slicker diction and better wordplay. And as he said in his verse, better refs, too. :amuse

Unfortunately I'm beginning to feel the judges are getting bias. There are too many preconceived notions about participants and there lyrical status, which they may of established before this rap battle thread was born. Judges need to always keep an open mind, and not openly express praise too much for other rappers especially in the midst of an battle. Thats bad judging. Comments should wait until after the battle is done. It gives notion that the judges have already pre determined in there hearts who the winner will be based off, what t hey know that person is capable of. That puts no name rappers at an automatic disadvantage, the hardest part of being a judge is not being bias and maintaining an open mind despite who ever steps up to the mic. This can be easily illustrated for instance. If you were a judge and Jay z step to the mic against a no name rapper from North Dakota. How would you judge, would your pre conceived notions of what Jay z spit in the past automatic come right into your judgement before he even spit? To be honest I feel some of these battles have been real close, and that the judges arent using lyrical content as the basis. One of the criteria of being a judges was the ability to sense rhyme scheme, discern punch lines. ALOT of these peoples rhymes do not follow a rhythmical pattern which you could throw a beat on and rap over. Thats what BARS are. Anyone can write witty rhyming sentences, but it takes skill for a potent rhythmic delivery. Again judges its VERY bad judging to compliment a rapper, or say oooo hes killing it in the middle of a battle, your giving pretense already to what your judgment will be, and it effects the other rapper cause he feels the judgment is unfair. That is why people have been arguing. A good judge never gets his judgment second guessed...

Also, ive been thinking of adding an audio free style section. Where rappers who have the proper hardware, minimal a microphone, can freestyle verbally and upload them here and we can have audio battles. I think this will add to the dimension of delivery which can easily turn a real battle around. Please let me know what you all think. This is open discussion and a community where all thoughts are welcome...

They aren't as raw-ly aggresive as people like JMT, they're more in-depth with words, more creative in a way that leans to intellectual things (not saying people like JMT are dumb - they're smart with their words too, just in a different way) and are more like Sel.

This thread was US's idea, though. Honestly, I liked it when the first judge to judge that certain battle was the official judgement. I mean, if you really have a problem with the judging I did for the Sel vs. Violence then you should have judged it from before on and expressed who you though should have won for that battle. US threw the idea out and we ran with it. How does a participate have a say on how the entire battle should be done? Like I said, it's the judges who decides on how the judging should be done.

I thought so as well. And your line that said as much, which CB quotes, is what sold me on you killing his entire first verse, and tersely, too.

But it's opinion, after all, and even if I don't share the judge's, I respect that he has one, and that he IS the judge.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with CB here, but I do, and as I said, source be damned, I thought you won. I guess just tailor your stuff to the judge (as you would in school, with certain teachers), roll with it, or say fuck it. Or all of the above (which is what I would do XD).

You could always request a different judge if you decide to get a rematch. (That battle wasn't your best anyways, IMO, even if it did kill; so I think you could do better and shouldn't let subjective score cards dissuade you.)
