No one knows where, when or why the cult of Aoba emerged, but our best sources indicate that in September of 2004, a somewhat questionable fanclub was formed in NF dedicated to the worship of this random side character, based on the infamy gained when he accidentally caused the entire second half of the series by letting it slip to Sasuke that Itachi was back in town. Led by Spectrum, the FC's founder, the cult gradually grew in numbers and power, arguably reaching its peak with the reappearance of Aoba in chapter 327 in the manga, when he showed up to scare the crap out of Hidan and Kakuzu and send them crying back to their mommies.

Indigo - How was Anime Boston?

Anime Boston was amazing. Sadly, there weren't any Aoba cosplayers. ;-;
We spent a lot of time just scouting out cosplayers...we went through the dealer's room twice, and we went to the Anime Dating Game...which was absolutely amazing.
In the dealer's room, one of the booths had a TV, and they were showing Naruto filler for some crazy reason. o_o (I actually ended up watching some of it while my friends were having fun at another booth that I wasn't interested in...) The same booth had tons of Japanese manga, which was absolutely amazing- I got the last copy of Naruto 37. =D And 35, too. The Japanese volumes are way cheaper than the American ones. o_o They were $6 each...I forgot to write down the name of the shop, though, so I guess I'll go back to buying them online. ><
They also had a lot of time-skip merchandise, which was great cause the only shop I know of that has anime merchandise only has part 1 stuff, and the online shop I use doesn't have time-skip stuff either. I finally managed to get the Shippuuden Shikamaru plushie I've wanted for a while now. xD
But there wasn't anything Aoba-related. :mad

Forgot to say this in my last post cause I had to run off to assembly (I'm in school right now. xD), but...
I also sold my soul to Organization XIII, and all I got was a crappy piece of paper with a Nobody symbol on it. xDD
I didn't see any good Shikamaru cosplayers, which really made me sad. ;-;
My friend's so mean. She ran up to an Asuma cosplayer we saw and went "HAHA YOU'RE DEAD". xD;;;

Oh, and unrelated to Anime Boston, my stepbrother was really bored on Saturday night (he was avoiding some annoying guy on World of Warcraft so he said he was going out to dinner, and he had to stay off for a while to make it believable) so he watched some anime with me, including episode 83...he doesn't like Naruto much, but he saw Aoba's famous line and decided that Aoba's the best character in the series. =D

Ehh, he's just not into anime in general. He's more into sci-fi stuff like Stargate or w/e.
Though he thinks Prince of Tennis is really fun to watch because it totally over exaggerates tennis. (and he saw Tezuka Zone and says he wants to see more tennis shots that kill the dinosaurs.)
He also loves the fact that 75% of the letters in Aoba's name are vowels. 8D

Maybe once the immortals arc airs in the anime and Aoba gets his other scene, there will be more merchandise and stuff...and cosplayers. xD Though with the current pace, it won't air by next year's Anime Boston...
