Hi everyone!

In order to get back on Gaara . . .

Does anyone else find Shukaku and Gaara's relationship with him to be fascinating . . . Or is it just me?

I was thinking about it a while ago, knowing that he was once human and all that. His whole history really interests me. After all, what kind of person must he have been to become a demon, and such a bloodthirsty one? Especially since he was a priest.

He must have been so wonderfully insane and evil.

*cough* Well, anyway . . .

I was also curious about his relationship with Gaara. We get an idea about it, but I would have liked to know some finer details. Did Shukaku completely hate Gaara? Or was it more like a begrudging respect, like Kyuubi with Naruto?

i think they were on a very mutual agreement completely different from naruto and kyuubi

They probably were for the most part, but I believe there was still some animosity between the two. Shukaku didn't like being sealed and he took it out on the only person he could: Gaara. He seemed to simply use him as a tool, manipulating Gaara to do whatever he wanted. Then again, Gaara didn't have any problems using Shukaku's powers to his advantage either.
Also, Gaara couldn't sleep thanks to him, since Shukaku would have taken over without a second thought while eating away at Gaara's personality.
Things probably also got worse between them as Gaara started to reform and began repressing Shukaku more and more.

i think of it as shino and his bugs

they sleep in shino's body,shino uses them w.e he wants

aftermath they also eat shino's body

shukaku uses gaara as a host..gaara is protected 24/7 by a automatic sand defense

aftermath gaara has a little hard time sleeping

But, Gaara's relationship to Shukaku is more serious and unhealthy. At least with Shino, his bugs follow his command and don't do much damage to him.

Shukaku, however, is more free minded. Gaara still uses his powers, but the demon's not going to make it easy for him. He doesn't follow Gaara's command, he's just forced to. Even though Shukaku does enjoy the killing, I'm sure we would much rather be free than acting through his host. Also, I see the constant protection more as Shukaku just looking out for number one. After all, if Gaara dies, so does he.
Plus, Gaara not being able to sleep is one of the main reasons why he was so mentally unstable. I'm sure there are consequences for Shino as well, but he doesn't seem so affected by them, and they can't be that serious if his whole clan uses bugs.

i honestly dont know why gaara wasnt allowed to sleep..to be honest..the whole fear of him being eaten when he was asleep just sounds bogus..because its not like he has never slept before..i think it was more of a fear of people trying to kill him more then anything

i mean naruto sleeps all the time and how bad does kyuubi wanna kill naruto

I agree that his lack of sleep was also due to fear of assassins, but I think there's more to it.

We know if Gaara does sleep, Shukaku is able to take control. I'm sure even Gaara didn't want Shukaku going on a rampage when the moment wasn't opportune for him. It's only when he became consumed by the bloodlust from Shukaku did he become careless with his actions.

Thus, I interpreted that the being "eaten" part meant Gaara would lose more and more of himself if he slept. If Shukaku took over, he was no longer Gaara, he was the demon.

I'm sure Gaara has slept before, but considering that Shukaku has so much chakra, perhaps the extra energy has made it that Gaara doesn't need that much sleep, in a physical sense that it. The mind is a different story.

As for Naruto and Kyuubi . . . Well, it's a little different for them. I don't think Kyuubi has that ability. I believe that the seals put on Naruto and Gaara were different. For one, Kyuubi was meant to be contained inside Naruto, not used like Shukaku. It's clear that Kyuubi doesn't have as much freedom or control as Shukaku. That could be a factor. Also, Gamabunta did state that those possessed by Shukaku are unable to sleep from fear of being taken over by the demon. So, it could be a trait unique to Shukaku as well.

those are fillers..they really dont matter to be honest..they are just made to put space between the manga and the anime

so that whole water vs sand thing..really isnt really and hasnt actually been proven yet

This is true... but he still didn't want to endanger his village because he knew that if he were to go into Shukaku mode he wouldn't have any control.
Also, during his heart-moving speech to Kankuro he mentioned that he didn't want his village to see him as a monster anymore.
So there's your proof.

And the water and sand thing... Idk.

Oh! Something I noticed in the Naruto Shippuuden movie
Temari is in it! Sooo.. does that mean Kankuro and Gaara may be in it as well?
You can also see them in the trailor at the very beginning where the screen rushes past all the shinobi.

I dont know how things work in your country but there is no age limit for school..Ive had class with people who had kids that were older then me

well, i'm not sure about the actual age limit for school, but... there is age limit for university - not more than 35.
I haven't seen people more than 3-4 years older than their classmates in our school.

That's what my family keeps telling me. Despite the fact that I'm rather oppionated, I'm pretty introverted. It's hard for me to make friends and put myself out there. But, I've never been the type of person who needed a lot of friends, just a couple of good ones will do.

I agree. I understand how people have their own opinion, but Gaara is just not one of those characters you can hate. You may be impartial toward him, but I don't see how you can hate him. He's just too good of a character and doesn't do anything to merit hatred from fans.

Also, whenever I do see someone who doesn't like him, they give really stupid reasons for it like, "He's too emo," which just makes me want to go on a long rant about how they fail to understand his character. Furthermore, if you are still able to hate Gaara after watching the chibi-Gaara episodes, then you are truly heartless.

By the way, I was thinking about The Little Gaara Trap the other day and I figured that Gaara doesn't even need to fight anyone. All he would have to do is show his opponent a picture of when he was little and they would be "OMG HOW CUTE!" and succumb to the ultra-cuteness and, in some cases like myself, become greatly devoted and borderline *cough*understatement*cough* obsessive.
