I always thought of Gaara (when he does come around to being interested in girls) as the kind of guy who would like the caring, quiet, and sensitive types :P I dunno...that kind of girl would complement him and be like the mother he never had. :D

When it comes to pairing up Gaara with the girls from the Naruto universe, I prefer GaaSaku to GaaHina for some reason but I'm not really big on either, y'know :P

Regarding Gaara pairings, people here who've known me from way back know that I'm all for DeiGaa (that's DeidaraXGaara in case you're wondering). I personally can't picture him with any girls.

I saw ep 216-219 and loved it! Who says Gaara can't wield a weapon other than sand, those people have to eat their words now... I wonder if they've all moved on though... I havn't been here for so long and I certainly don't go anywhere outside of this fanclub these days...

Well... using a kunai is a required skill in the academy, that's true.... and same goes for shuriken... however, all the rest of the weapons are optional... the same analogy would be that I could become a surgeon or psychiatrist... in both cases I need anatomy... but to be a surgeon I only have to take some psychology courses and a little training in it, but a lot of training in surgery, while for psychiatrist it will be just the opposite.... because clinical psychology is his/her field...

It happens in the 4th episode, and will probably continue up to the 5th eppy (Newtype Magazine confirmed this.) And you can always read the battle details in any Gaara fansite..or somewhere. :P

If you are behind time, if they came out on the day it airs in Japan, it would come on Wednesday for you while it comes on Thursday for us. And in a week (well last time I checked, hey I learnt the days of the week! :w00t), Wednesday, or before Wednesday, always comes before a Thursday ;). It makes it seem like it comes Earlier. For us it feels long. Imagine how frustrated I was when Naruto moved from Wednesday to Thursday grrr.

Yay, it airs tomorrow! Which is Thursday. Aww, lucky you, even if it's Tuesday or Wednesday it still comes out tomorrow.

Same here, I was extremely disappointed. -_- IMO, they butchered the Gaara vs. Deidara battle. And you're right, it WAS slow. The whole scene was. It's one of my favorite fights in the manga because of the fast pacing...but in the anime, it was kinda like this:

-Deidi hops on his giant clay bird-
-Gaara starts controlling his sand and with it chases Deidara-
*Ten minutes later*
-sand still chasing Deidara-
:P

Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but you know what I mean >< I hope it doesn't sound like I'm dissing Shippuden. I mean, I like it. It's just...not living up to my expectations...so far.
