This is old news, as most of you who frequent to animesuki or any major anime board may have already heard. Anyway, for those who haven't, here's the cast:

I remember that actresses for Mion and Rika were swapped in one version. Not entirely sure if it's this one. :oh

In other news: A live action movie adaptation of the series, to be directed by Ataru Oikawa, has been announced for 2008. [5] [20] The movie will be an adaptation of the first story arc, Onikakushi-hen. [21] Gōki Maeda will play Keiichi, Airi Matsuyama will play Rena, Rin Asuka will play Mion, Aika will play Rika, and Erena Ono will play Satoko

Anyway, discuss.

Personally, I really want to see how this will work out. I'm excited, yet not at the same time. This could be really epic or a failure. At least they're just focusing on one arc, and not the whole story.

They look way too old to be playing the characters from Higurashi, but the agan, that's the problem with all fuckin live-action movies.

Could turn out to be great though, let's hope for the best :nod

At least we know who Keiichi is since he's the only guy. Good thing he looks more manly than the first cast picture, but that's not saying much. :oh

Know what, those guys who were cosplaying Higurashi characters look better.

Still, I'm checking this out when it comes out. That's just saying that I have a penchant for Asian horror movies. For sure, this movie will be like that since it's Onikakushi-hen.

I doubt they will dye their hair. They didn't dye anyone's hair in the Negima Live Action. That loses big points for me. Rika isn't Rika if she doesn't have blue hair damnit!

Although I honestly think that if people who probably don't know anything about Higurashi sees the characters in this movie having colored hair, most likely, this concept won't be taken seriously for a horror movie.

Looked like Rika was in costume so wouldn't the other's be in costume too? If so then they fail hardcore, especially the hair xD

Only thing I see this to be good for is lols but I wish them luck.

They didn't even get a haircut to match the chracters they're supposed to play :facepalm
If this thing turn out to be great im not gonna bitch about something like that, but i can't see how it's too much to ask to actually try to look like what you're trying to portrait.

Yeah, I think that's the only thing I'll be anticipating. I mean, I love Eiko Shimamiya's music, and I don't mind listening to more new stuff from her.

Fail for lack of Hanyuu.

I think I'd prefer that they never have a Live Action Hanyuu, I don't think an actor can live up to the roll of Hanyuu as well an anime Hanyuu can. :amuse

There's no Hanyuu in Onikakushi. Just extra footstep sounds.

This is going to be so bloody. And are they really going to only play the first arc and just leave tons of people out in teh dark? Yeah right, we already know this movie is going to make interest explode for the series (made by a fan, geez respect up). Even if it blows, the storyline just begs to learn more about.
