The only time I was creeped by this anime was at the first arc of the first season. Seriously, I'd never seen such psychotic bipolarity in little girls, and seeing Rena and Mion going crazy like that scared the shit out of me. After the first 4 episodes, I stopped watching the series and only like a month later started it again.

Fun fact: I watched most of the episodes at 3 in the morning.

The first 4 episodes where a tad bit scary the but thats it. Honestly, Higurashi dosn't freak me out very much. I'm just de-sensitized. I love the series though.

It dose give me an adreniline rush and makes me crave answers.

What really got me in this anime though was the tragedy. I cried so many times during Higurashi that I've lost count.

I really really really wanted to quit after the first four episodes but I couldn't stop myself. Meakashi-hen (S1, Ep. 16 to 21) was pretty bad for me and I had to fast forward through a few scenes...

But after that it was (relatively) clear for me. The more questions that were answered the less scary it got.

I dont like this show at all for various reasons one its not scary at all two it gives awey who is the one thats possessed or some thing like that tree its kinda funny how the so called scary is funny 2 me :wink

It's not really supposed to be scary. Sure, you can be scared but it's more creepy than anything. And it doesn't try to hide the fact that someone is "possessed." In fact it intentionally makes it obvious and there's a reason for that.

If you only like it because of the violence then probably. If the like it because of the characters and mystery then no, you'll love it. Kai is all about the plot and answering the hundreds of questions raised in season one. The "Kai" in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai stands for "Solution". I prefer Kai over season one for a multitude of reasons.

It's heavily censored. I'd download the OVA first even though that takes place in the middle of the series. The reason for downloading the OVA is that it shows what it would look like if it wasn't heavily censored, but I guess you could read the manga to see just how uncensored it really is xDD

Okay...I just watched the first episode of the first season, and you know what? I'm hooked. Sure, I was disturbed for those first 2 to 3 minutes of the opening and then the fact that it went to comedy for those 20 minutes. The last few minutes of it, gave me a giant feeling of mindrape.

To tell you the truth it never scared me for some reason. In fact I found it hilarious... for some other odd reason. I always liked laughter. When someone laughs I usually end up laughing along. That was originally what drew me to the first season. :D

Now that's kinda creepy...Anyways I'm done with the third episode. And you know what? I got a bad, bad feeling about next episode...I defiantly am confused about who's supposed to be good in this series.

Keiichi sure has a lot of guts to stay in that village and not get his ass out of there and across the seas.

Nope, I believe they were using a marker and well, Keiichi was L5 at the time so it's pretty easy to hallucinate at that stage :S

yeah it was just a marker. They were going to draw on him. This was shown in Tsumihoroboshi-hen when Keiichi remembered the past worlds.

As big as finding out Mion had a twin sister?! Now that's another slap in the face to me. It throws everything I thought about Mion out the window. Not even half-way through the episode, and I feel like I've just been mindfucked! :arg That and the fact that someone hit the reset button and everyone is alive!

Edit: ...She doesn't really have a twin sister, and I just completely fell for that didn't I?
