It was.

I like that no one went crazy for a change. It's was becoming too formulaic.

Rena is incredibly perceptive. She probably noticed something amiss and went to get help.

For an anime original, I have to say that it delivered. It wasn't the "standard" (which is "one goes nuts and raises hell for everyone") but it was good since it explained stuff about the connection of Rika's death and the "disaster", which we knew by then was not really a natural disaster.

No questions asked - the end of this arc is the best episode of Higurashi I've seen so far (even surpasses the end of Minagoroshi-hen). It was so emotional that I really felt so bad for everyone, even for my least favorite character, which is Satoko.

Great Hinamizawa Disaster was for me, the epitome of the story.
