This arc is simply amazing. It's the first time you feel you're actually getting answers. And crazy Shion is the best. From what I've read, many people fall in love with Higurashi because of this arc. The crazy Shion QUALITY faces are annoying though.

This was a great arc. Definately had the best deaths.

"Distinction", anyone? :iria
This was my second favorite arc in Season 1. As I've been saying over and over, Shion was just... fuck, not to forget that this was the only arc that made me say "fuck" a lot of times while watching. Only beef is that this arc went overboard with the emo facial distortions.
The fuck fact that everything we were made to believe at the end of Watanagashi-hen was refuted by this arc is what made this arc great. :nod

This was damn good. I think DEEN did something right with this arc. I never been more freaked about fingernails ever until this. There was much detail in that whole moment. For the first answer arc it certainly answered a lot. Shion's motives were all pretty damn freakish. She practically caused everyone's death, well, except for Rena. It's interesting how you compare the ending to Watanagashi. The things she said were slightly different, which means we know it was only Keiichi's imagination.

Maekashi-hen definitely cleared up the confusion that I had during Watanigashi-hen. So it definitely was a great arc. Plus it dove a lot deeper into the Sonozaki's malicious ways.

I really love this arc, Shion's crazyness was awesome (even if her crappy face was shown too much). I had predicted back then during Watanagashi-hen that the crazy Sonozaki was Shion, until they confused me with the whole teddy bear story that only Mion should have known. They did play dirty.:mad
Well, it was a satisfaction to know I got a little bit of the truth though.:nod

Watanagashi and Meakashi are separate but nearly identical words. In Watanagashi Shion saved Keiichi from the bikers; In Meakashi Keiichi saved Shion. Rika knows from Watanagashi that Shion was going to torture her to death so she decided to kill herself in Meakashi. The different things said are probably a result of them being different worlds.

I was actually aware of the differences between Watanagashi-hen and Meakashi-hen later on, but the anime adaptation made it seem that it was the same event being looked at in a different perspective.
I actually like that. As I said, this arc has proven me wrong big time with my initial thoughts at the end of Watanagashi-hen.

:omg You're right, it's not the same world.:cry
Higurashi continues to mindrape me, even when I think I get it. :can

I was thinking at least one answer would be connected but I should've known they were all different worlds.

Best arc imo. It was simply astounding how they connected all the pieces together and portray everything in someone else's perspective. And crazy Shion is always a plus. :thumbs
