I like this arc very much. It's one of the best in the whole first season imo.

Easily the most shocking arc.

Really good. A great intro into the universe.

I was confused as hell watching those first 4 episodes. I kept thinking to myself, "how the hell can this story continue" :lmao
It definitely shook my way of thinking about anime mystery series.

Easily the most shocking arc.Easily agreed. As the first arc of the series, it put a huge impression on me. Paranoia adrift and all that. It's actually quite remarkable looking back at it.
I was surprised as fucking hell when everyone died in ep. 4 :lmao
As well as confused. I wanted to know how it continues.
So, if I got it right, it was later said that the main character DREAMED all this? Or was it a parallel universe or whateva? Explanation please.

The last arc of S1 showed that it was an parallel universe.

lol, watching everyone die in episode 4 made me keep on wondering how the hell that would've lasted 26 episodes.
The last arc of S1 showed that it was an parallel universe.
Ah, thanks. I didn't really get that part.

Have you not watched Kai?
Up to episode 4 or something... then there were only mediocre subs out (quality-wise) and I sort of stopped

This thread is probably where we'll get those "WTF!?" reactions we had in the original thread. :lmao
Anyway, just like everyone here, I was also dumbfounded at the end of Onikakushi-hen. The shock was enough to keep me hooked.
It made me wonder if the writer of the anime (that was before, because I didn't know anything about the game) was sick for just killing off major characters in one arc and reviving them in the next episode and killing them off again at the end.
But of course, after being into the series, I definitely knew better. :nod

yeah, I was confused. I hurt myself in the confusion.
not my absolute favourite arc, probably second favourite though
Yeah I was really suprised at this arc, and episode 4. Series couldn't of been opened by a better chapter IMO.

I wasn't hooked till I watched episode 4. The end of this arc was freaking awesome. Let you wonder how the hell all this bloodshed happened and K1 telling to Ooishi how something was lurking in the darkness ready to kill him.
This was MADNESS. :nod

I watched this arc more times than I watched the entire series. I think the current count is 5. :P
Needless to say, this is my favorite Higurashi chapter, followed very closely by Minagoroshi hen. After I initially finished it, the ending racked my brain for days. I was like, 'WTF? Everyone died?' XD Still the arc left the biggest impression on me for Higurashi.

I wonder what the impression was for the visual novel.
When they finished it they didn't know there would be more. With the anime you know the anime isn't going to end at 4 episodes. Most people check a series's length before watching it too.
