I'm not sure if that's the case.

It might've been from revenge votes from Nanoha and Kagami fanboys. Rena had to face a lot of popular opponents to reach the semi-finals, while Nagi had a relatively easy time.

True but you'd think the LSfans would have been on our side after Nagi beat Konata and you definitely thought they would be after Shinku beat Tsukasa. However, it doesn't seem like the case now.

Who knows who's ahead now. The interim count means nothing. Before I went to bed last night Rena had a lead of over 200 and she lost by over 100.

It's gonna suck if the finals are Nagi and Shinku.

I've seen Rozen Maiden and Shinku is an okay character but I really wanted a Higurashi character to make it to the finals and possibly win.

And unlike Shinku, Rika hasn't killed anybody. Shinku killed Junk, so rooting for her makes you a hypocrite for disliking Rena.

Shinku wouldn't have been my first choice, but after losing both Desu and Junk by the smallest of margins in the same round, it's up to Rozen Maiden #5 to keep it in the family. :noworry

Word of warning for those going out into the voting thread, it looks like the thread is being spammed with a fake notice saying that the match has been called due to the volume of fake votes. I doubt it's real but it is something to be aware of. Including the links for those who want to see it, it’s pretty hard to miss.

Not to forget that a lot of foreign votes were the biggest factor in Rika's win. For all we know, they'll be banning foreign votes by next year.

What I found most interesting about this match was the breakdown of foreign to Japanese votes.

Character: Foreign/Japan/Total
Rika: 380/992/1372
Shinku: 221/1148/1367

Looking at the numbers, the foreign vote count offset the Japanese votes in Rika’s favor. I think it’s kind of an amazing feat Rika pulled off here.

Yeah, this semis battle sure was nerve-wracking.

I've been voting ever since the tournament started (for other characters), but I've never cared much for the Higurashi girls until Rena owned Kagami. And to think that one of them reaches the finals has made me so involved in this already.

Of course, I'll continue doing my part and again, hope for the win for Rika. :nod

Yeah, I think some else mentioned somthing similar on animesuki. I'll see if I can find it.

I think he stated it better but I thought it was Hanyun with the time powers, not that it matters since I completly forgot abount Hanyun. :facepalm
Anyways, I kind of think this match was kind of crazy looking back at it all. I mean there was confusion about fake voting threads, the two valid voting threads with the same name (round 305 I think), those fake notices about the match being called, and of course the paranoia with the fake votes. After all that, I think we all need break.

Rika's going to be up against someone that had a +100 lead against Rena, who now has the backing revenge votes from the Rozen Maiden bloc and the Japanese that didn't like today's victory being decided by foreigners, while fighting a much more powerful foe than Shinku who she could only barely beat...

Wasn't the entire story of Higurashi about how she needed everyone's support no matter how little it may be to defeat fate? ^^

For sure Rika is going to have a hard time with this one considering that all Japanese who are majorly doll lovers will have the revenge vote against her. Not to forget the LS faction who still wants revenge for Kagami, as well as the HnG faction.

The only votes Rika could get are revenge votes from Rena's loss and the Higurashi faction (which also comprises of the previous one). It's really small in comparison to Nagi's probable voters.

Except they already got revenge for Kagamin. Rika is relatively clean of the LS faction. As for the dolls since Shinku is the least popular doll I doubt anyone really cares in the end if she lost. Now if it was Suigintou or Junk then we'd have a problem. People hate SHinku though so I think we're fine. As for the HnG faction we're tougher than them and we'll show them what we can do. Oyashiro-sama WILL onikakushi Nagi.

I think Rena lost more because of the dynamics on the Japanese boards than the foreign ones. Rena had more foreign votes than Nagi in their match.

Here's my guess on how voting splits up:

1rst quarter: Japanese, foreign, and fake votes
2nd quarter: Mainly foreign voters (it's like 6 am over in Japan isn't it?)
3rd quarter: Both Japanese and foreign
4rth quarter: Most of the Japanese voters

But we still have to give it our best. ^^
If even six less people voted for her during the last round Rika would've lost, so every single person really does count in this match.

I can honestly say that there's a 90%+ chance of Rika losing if she doesn't get any foreign votes though. So it still does play a large part since the Japanese are likely going to vote against her like they did against Rena and Rika during her match with Shinku.

For the Rena match, even if just ~50 of the foreign Nagi votes were turned to Rena votes she would've won. So Anti-Rena sentiment could've been the deciding factor even if it wasn't the main factor in her match.

Revenge to a character from the same anime is a bit too much. I mean, I could care less about Rena after Kagamin was defeated (boo!) but that doesn't mean I think Rika deserves the same. Although it does bring up a pretty interesting point. No one expected Higurashi in the end, not even I would've expect that. This year is full of surprises.
Honestly, I don't think the LS faction would care for this final. If some of them are still harboring hate from Kagami's loss, then it's useless voting against Rika since it was Rena they hated all along. And Rena is already out.

I hope that it won't be the same for Rika. Rika has been less hyped despite having won match after match (since all eyes were on Rena), and after she made it to the finals, all eyes are on her now. As I said, there's still probably revenge votes from the RM faction since their last card got owned by a few votes, thanks to foreign votes like us.

As I've been saying, I'll just vote for Rika and hope that tonight, we'll see if she does indeed break through fate.

Even so we should try to support Keiichi. I'll also be pulling for the TTGL characters too.
