mine would be sasori because I enjoyed his fight the most and he was an interesting character.

Very, very, very close between Deidara and Itachi for me.

At the moment I'd give it to Deidara, probably because he's been in action a lot more recently (including just showing up in the anime), but no doubt it will swing back and forth until the series ends. :P Both great characters, anyway - Deidara is hilarious, and I love his carefree attitude, but Itachi's mystery and cool is unrivalled.

Deidara, though Sasori and Itachi are not far behind. My favourite 3 Akatsuki and characters in general.

Both Deidara and Sasori are characters who have been completely and irrevocably overcome by a particular neurotic worldview, and the way in which they're separated from and yet within the world simply fascinates me. I prefer Deidara to Sasori because I like his single minded focus on impermanence and its relation to beauty and reality. It's tied into some of my favourite philosophies. I also love how explosive his personality is, it makes for a nice contrast with some of the other members.

Sasori took me a while to get used to, but after I started looking at Deidara for carefully, his own pyschotic break from reality got more and more interesting as well. I love him for his failed attempt to turn away from emotion, and how in denying his humanity, he affirmed it.

My third favourite is Itachi. He was just so intellectually fascinating when he snapped in ch222 and verbally attacked the other Uchiha. The almost... existential nature of his character there just really appeals to me.

My favorite Akatsuki member would have to be Tobi. Yes, he's hilarious, and probably has the best character design (artistically) of the group, though the true reason why he's my favorite is becuase I'm intrigued by his character in general. I have no idea: where his specialties lie, which village he came from, and most importantly, who he is. Currently, Tobi appears as a well-spoken comedian, yet I do believe he's much more than meets the eye. I'm under the impression Tobi, AL, and "Blue" will be the last three members to be formally introduced; I'm speculating they'll be devised as anti-heroes - I think this because they'll add more depth to the series, and depict the true intent and history of Akatsuki better than any other member. Kishimoto deliberately introduced the more "typical" antagonists earlier, with the exception of Uchiha Itachi, to showcase Akatsuki's immense power, not necessarily to provide background info on the organization.

Itachi: Because he's cold, calm and collected. Over confident, and I love the way he always wins in one way or another. Not to mention he's sexy.

Deidara: Because it's impossible to not love a loudmouth blond who likes to blow stuff up in the name of art. He's an artist like me :) And I'm curious as to what he can do with those three mouths of his :P

Kisame: Purely for the quote- 'I will enjoy shaving you to death' and the fact that his suggestion for how to stop Naruto running away was to remove his legs.
