Trieze was a true Char Clone but without the retarded analogies to looks or personality, he was like...one of the most original characters in Gundam AC.

That said, Trieze in Leo > Gurren Lagaan.

I wouldn't even say SEED is made of "fail" when compared to Gurren Lagann. (Not that SEED is better, just a bit closer in terms of quality.)

It's hard to say how much Naruto's mentality would affect the power of the Gurren Lagann, but if the others of the Gurren-Dan are anything to go by, then simply "strong will" (something Naruto falters with at times) wouldn't be enough (not that it'd matter what Simon/Kamina's mentality is, he'd just get stronger as the plot calls for it even if it doesn't make sense with what's established.)
