View Full Version : Spiral Power =/= Fighting Spirit.

Alright, I've seen this quite a few times around various places and I'd just like to clear it up that there is a big difference between the two:
Fighting Spirit: The energy one emits when their very soul is coursing with the energy and vigor of wanting battle. The contributing factors are purely emotional and can be outputted by any sentient being, so it's accessible to Beastmen and humans (Animals too probably). This energy is used to pilot Gunmen.
Spiral Energy: Different from Fighting spirit in that only organisms with a double-helix DNA structure can harness it, not allowing it to be used by Beastmen. However, Spiral energy is also different from Fighting spirit in that it has the power to reshape and remold the mediums that it is placed into, changing the very matter and properties of an object through pure spiral radiation. Few humans actually muster up the strength to harness this energy.
Known users of Spiral energy (ordered from least to most powerful):
Simon
Lord Genome
Kittan
Kamina was never known to use spiral power, he operated on pure manliness fighting spirit alone. Since the Gurren didn't need spiral energy to function (unlike the Lagann) this is why Viral was able to substitute in Kamina's stead as Simon's Co-pilot.
So anyway, your thoughts?
Would make sense, but somehow I can't see those random fodder beastmen have enough fighting spirit to control their ganmen.

I could picture the Beastmen having enough lust for combat and crushing down human rebellion to muster up the strength to do it. Like I said, I think it's all about emotional power and focus.
Then I'm wondering, does Fighting spirit also influence the POWER of your ganmen like spiral power does?
I can only shadily remember the earlier episodes, it was like half a year ago...

I think the reason that Kamina was such a good Ganmen pilot was because he had such a strong spirit, and hence got better reactions from his mech then, let's say, Yoko would have. It seems that in TTGL Passion = power :/

hmmmm...i nvr really thought bout that, i suppose you can say kamina did use his fighting spirits but imagine if he did use his spiral powers...he probably couldve survive @.@

Well it would suck is someone with no spirit and motivation could permanently pwn the shit out of the ones with fighting spirit :sag

I read the definition but it still seems the same...

Um
the ganmen run on spiral power as far as I know
BUT since the beastmen don't have it they run their ganmen on battery power
this was mentioned by genome sometime during the timeskip
Hell the reason why the chouginga henshin took so long was because gurren and lagann werent sharing power because viral didn't have spiral power.
spiral power is what fighting spirit actually is.
They always called it fighting spirit before but now we know that it is because of spiral power
Well it would suck is someone with no spirit and motivation could permanently pwn the shit out of the ones with fighting spiritYa.....like itachi.
Well, good reasoning viral, but vegitto does point out the battery could pick up the slack. Still, they were warriors and should have had fighting spirit. they also got killed fairly easily.
I agree that spiral power is top tier, human, fighting spirit.

You forgot Boota!
I didn't really get the Boota part. Was he some kind of new, unknown spiral power?
It was an alternate reality.....so I guess that is boota's dream. His evolution.
Oh, yeah. That's why he transformed back, I forgot :sag

thats why season 2 or a spin off should be about the alternative dimension, human boota is cool!!!

I don't think that it was a alternate reality
I mean genome and boota were still in the real world, but then boota got locked into one AFTER he transformed.

Fighting spirit is more of a biproduct of spiral power I think. If you got lots of spiral power, you'll also ahve the will to struggle, to fight, to be MANLY:yell!!

The beastman used alternate battery power units. When LAgann is merged with gurren, Lagann provides most of the power. Viral has NEVER oparated Lagann himself because he doesn't have spiral power. Kamina was a spiral user too but a very weak one. Remember the time they were low in energy and boota gave them his tail. Rossiu also can use spiral energy. the difference between the others is that Simon was the only one that could pilot Lagann because he was tuned to it, unlike Gurren or the other gunman. Everyone that was using Gunman was using spiral power.
Another proof that everyone was using spiral power was when they were trapped in the antispiral sea, Retai put a different form of energy source in Yoko and Kittan's gunman so they could go out and destroy the drones that were forcing the ship down.
Spiral power = fighting spirit = Life force is all the same.

The two may be seperate, however you can't unleash spiral power without having huge amounts of fighting spirit. Or at least it certinatly seems that way. I'm sure Kamina would've been able to make use of Spiral Energy if he'd managed to stick around a little longer.
