View Full Version : I think Simon is Kamina's dad

I shit you not. As strange as it may sound, I'm serious.

I actualy thought of this quite early on, but old Simon in the final episode solidified it for me. Anyway, I think sometime after peace was restored to the universe, Simon had a child. Mabye the mother was Yoko, mabye she wasn't. anyway, that dosn't matter.

Simon named the child Kamina after his aniki. Some events occur, Simon realizes he has to travel back in time with his son Kamina and leave him in the past so the events leading to the formation of the Gurren-dan can occur.

Then how come Kamina's dad was dead?

Paul the SK

Simon didn't really die. He faked his death so Kamina would have a reason to live.

I know theres the skeleton but that can easily be fake.

But he could never have predicted that he would find him.

Wouldn't it make more sense in saying that Simon was flung into a Spiral Dimension and brought back in time with Kamina. He left him in the village and told him that he wanted to go up to space, in order to go back through the dimension rift to get back to his time but failed.

That'll be better to support your theory :apathy

Yeah, I thought he was Kamina's dad ever since they showed Kamina's dad.

He went through some crazy time travel, and died in the past leaving his grave in the desert and Kamina to wander about and get inspired from him. It also makes the "you died in a place like this father???" scene awesome because really, his dad ended up being one of the greatest dudes ever and Simon sort of began and ended the circle.

Of course it's not really supported by anything I just thought it'd be cool.

Would make a sequel that much more win.

Would make a sequel that much more win.

Simon could be Captain GARlock, GAR Simon, Simon the Driller, Kamina's Dad, and Simon the Hobo.

HE WOULD BE ULTIMATE.

Speaking of which, that's exactly what the spin-off is about.

This theory is just out there. It's not even reaching at anything, since it's not supported by a shred of evidence. It's "interesting" though.

i recognize both voices, kamina's dad and hobo simon have different seiyuus
Hobo Simon: the guy who does Zangetsu from Bleach
Kamina's dad: Akisame from Kenichi or Allen from Marchen Awakens Romance.

I always thought this theory was stupid but Old Simon looks very similar to Kamina's dad. Some pretty amazing things better happen to make this true.

Cheers!

It'd be way freakin' weird to see that happen.

It'd be awesome, but a bit of a mindfuck.

Exploit what? Malnourished children in the deepest reaches of Africa?

i meant explode but yeah...simon being kamina's dad is just kinda awkward

After watching the entire series, have you still not realized that reason and logic do not exist in TTGL?

All these ideas about Simon being Kamina's dad and possible plot for a sequel etc. etc interest me alot, I would really like this to happen.

I definently believe in this one.

He's the narrator. If he were Kamina's dad they would have given him the same voice.

I supported this theory a long time ago, but I'm not so sure right now simply because Simon chose to live single and alone. The last scene shows that Nobody has seen Simon after he left and he was just a "nobody" (as he said) travelling around the world and helping people.

nah, I don't think so.

Simon = Narrator

and in his own words in the last episode

Ha, well if Simon could be Kamina's dad...then Yoko could be his mom..

and you know what that means...?

:oh

Probably a good thing he didn't come back from that last battle

Anyway... it's not likely that Simon's his dad but it is a very interesting thought. It's potential spin off material I guess. A bit strange though.

If its true then Kamina wanted to have sex with his theorectical mum?

Exactly.

Therefore it must can't be true.

zOMFG, you guys are freaks. :|

Simon is not Kamina's dad. Kamina's dad is an old friend of Genome who piloted the lower part of the Lasengan and then actually got to Teppelin but lost to Genome and then they dumped him out in the desert where Kamina coincidentially finds him.

Why can't he be a normal person who was killed by the beastmen; his death was used to justify our love for the heroes and act as motivation for the characters.

I'm not saying it's true, but as far as I can tell it is possible. This is how I think it would happen assuming it were true:

Perhaps there is a battle going on near Simon. Something happens and he goes through a rip in the time-space continuum. Simon find his way to Jiha village (or perhaps he was already there) to a time before Simon and Kamina were born. He falls in love and has a kid whom he names after the man he admires. He also constantly tells people of the surface. One day he digs a path to the surface, taking Kamina with him. He asks Kamina if he wants to come, Kamina being overcome with fear refuses. His dad says it's okay and to come up here one day. Instead of living on he decides to die, meets a ganmen says "come and get me" smiles and gets stomped on.

Wow.

I would support that plot without fail. Not only would it make sense...but it's the most interesting spin-off I've heard to date.

When I first saw this thread I was a bit dubious. But in a weird way, it does make sense.

They look pretty damn similar and if you notice you never see Kamina's dads eye since its covered by his hair, which at the end of the series, is Simons spiral eye as well. I don't think Simon would actually be his father though, maybe adopted or something. I can't see Simon wanting to have a kid with anyone except Nia.
