yeah the story won't be of surprise, large intense battle, Genome one of the commanders and probably only survivor while all the Spirals die and Genome making earth how it was in the story. But imo it should be more in depth and show the fights, main characters during that war, and how exactly Genome escaped alive.

Actually, I truly believe that TTGL would get a fucking awesome dub. Fooly Cooly and EVA both got pretty fucking awesome dubs, and I believe that TTGL would be handled well.
And if there is a second season, let it be about a distant, DISTANT future that holds Simon, Kamina, Gurren Brigade as heroes, and have a new Drill Boy bring back Gurren Laggan and kick some ass.
I wouldn't mind a restart in the WAY distant future and show us how everything developed, but I would mind watching Gimmy for 24 episodes trying to be GAR.

Gurren Lagann is fine as it is, it's time to let it rest. It's really hard to make second season without fucking it up. I don't think Gainax can do it.
A prequel would be bitchin'.

heh, I doubt Gimmy would be the main character. But I do think that the epilogue at the end might hint on what we're to expect. Simon will probably turn up late, being extremely GAR and mentorlike for the new main character:nod

it is so obvious! They are going to fight other spirals beings. In the history of humanity, there has never been world wide peace. Simon's views are to idealistic. There will be someone that will not be happy with the terms of the peace meeting. There will be someone that became the leader of one of the spirals world that will be too ambitious. Someone will have different views that someone else. If they are going to a peace meeting why is the people from earth ARMED to the teeth with a ship full of GL? Just look at the Gundam franchise and Gainax want to do something similar with the TTGL universe.

What they should do though is make like 3 Ova's. Imo.

i wouldn't mind a short spin-off, expanding on the back stories:
1. The Spiral Knights and the Fall of Lord Genome, his last speech to Nia was practically crying for that, there is so much drama around his character.
2. Kamina's dad. Just because his bones were found near the village musn't mean that he didn't get very far. I believe that he was the One Genome talked about fighting before. The Helix King found out where he came from and that he had a son, so he tried to destroy the home village of the rebellion-leader. Kamina's dad died in an heroic attempt of saving the Jihaa village. But not before burrying Lagann near it, in the hopes that someday his son will find it. :wtf
(The fight could also cause the earthquake killing Simons parents. Everything is related)
3. What happened during the 7-year timeskip, how did they build the city, how they freed all the people from underground. I think of a boy working on the construction of the Kamina statue, telling hugely exaggerated tales he heard about the great Kamina and the Dai Gurren-Dan
4. A SimonXNia special, that shows how happy they were during the first timeskip. :cry
5. The story of some of the side charcaters, like the one rom the GAINAX-page and, of course: Bruce Ironstaunch. Since it is obvious that Gainax is reading 2chan (and maybe even 4chan), i hope that they found about this, or maybe they put him in the background with this gesture for a reason (remember that they showed him on the Arc several times, so he wasnt a one shot.

We all know how they end already, so it wouldn't be suspenseful. We'd just wait for the episode that Kamina's Dad dies, or when Genome retires and oppresses humans after losing the entire war.
We need the future. That's the point of Spiral power. :pek

Its in been confirmed that the prologue is an alternate universe in the DVD's.
Go youtube and search for Gurren Lagann DVD commentary. Yoko's VA says that Simon of that universe is really cool and then Kamina's says that's why we'll never see him again.

To the best of my knowledge, looking around the internet, I can't find any other corroborating source on that last comment. And it's suspicious additionally since the actual statement wasn't translated but instead briefly summarized with such a landmark statement. The rest of the interview I've seen elsewhere on the internet (animesuki, notably). The last statement, though, I haven't except from that article, which was based on a bad source.
From the sound of the interview, it sounds like they haven't decided on making anything.
