He hears gunfire all the time, but an area resident says there was only silence Friday night when a 19-year-old was shot and killed in a Jane St. apartment parking lot.

The resident of the building at Yewtree Blvd. south of Finch Ave. said he didn't hear anything prior to Toronto Police arriving on scene at about 7:50 p.m.

"I hear it all the time, they shoot all the time," he said of the area. If the victim was shot around the time police were called, he would have heard it, he said.

"There was no shooting after 7:30," the man said yesterday. "He was probably shot just after dark, at 7."

The man suggests the victim lay dying, possibly of two gunshots to the head, in his car for some time before emergency services were called.

He believes the victim was shot just after the sun set, making it difficult for the surveillance cameras to pick up anything.

Don't know th circumstances but any death of young people is regrettable. I hope there will be some closure in his death. RIP.

I guess I am just sorry for the kid's family at the moment. I heard about that district of Toronto, but I have yet to see it. Maybe I should stay clear of it whilst I am here.

It's not that toronto is a bad place, but its that he was a kid like into violence, so i guess it was his fault..

Hm, ok. I guess this place has more than just child poverty to be ashamed about. Having walked for a few causes just during my few weeks here I am amazed at how much the community effort matters, though.

Was he coping at home or did he have problems with school or friends?

and.. thats just the Jane-Finch area that is bad, since its the biggest neighbourhood with bad things occuring. Everywhere else, its pretty great.

You have my condolences on the passing of your good friend.

Just remember that from now on, you have the choice to be a positive influence on people and hopefully interact with others in your life in a way which doesn't lead to violence.
