It all went so fast.

We do know that Lord Genome gets his body back.

What happened? They kill Anti-Spiral, Simon and Nia marry, then Simon goes off, everybody gets old and it supposedly ends with the Earth exploding.

Lets see... From the looks of it everyone is piloting Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Lord Genome is alive somehow. Fight the anti-spiral... Lord Genome dies? Anti Spiral Dies... Something happens... Simon and Nia get married, Credits, Everyone is old... the end.

Or, by now, you could have watched the episode like me.

Basically, Lord Genome gets his body back, then sacrafices himself for everyone and turns into a giant drill, which Simon absorbs for power. Simon kills the Anti-Spiral using the Lagann Impact (which is the same thing he used back during the fight with Lord Genome).

Fast foward to the wedding. As Simon and Nia are on the altar, Nia starts to dissipate. Simon doesn't seem surprised with this, and Nia is gone for good. Simon then gives his little drill key to Darry and leaves.

The whole timeskip after the credits was kinda lame. From he looks of it, Rossiu is running everything, with Leeron helping him. Yoko is back to teaching. Darry and Gimmy are the new pilots of Gurren-Lagann. Viral is the head of some space force.

Right at the end, older Simon wearing a cloak assists a boy trying to drill a coconut open for the milk. In the background, Gurren-Lagann takes off into space, and the boy starts talking about it. Simon says something, the boy says something, and then we get a shot of a couple of ships, probably other Ganmen with Guirren-Lagann, going into space.

The end.

The post I did was made 20 minutes after it aired. So obviously by now I already know what had happened, though I haven't watched the raw yet. :3

Add the fact that I thought this was going to be the official discussion thread, so I just posted here for the sake of it :lmao

Thanks, though ^_______^

I came buckets.

The ending was bittersweet... but I've sorta gotten used to those by now. Apparently Nia was some sort of sentient program created by the Anti-Spirals to serve as a messenger for the Spiral Nemesis 'program' whenever it's enacted, which is why she dissipates at the end since she no longer has a "purpose."

Heh, the last line is kinda sad: "who the hell do you think... huh? heh, that's right, i'm no one." (or something along those lines). I mean, it's great that he help those in need, but I woulda hoped he'd help with problems less petty than helping a kid get coconut milk. XD

Though I guess this fits into the whole cliche that heroes can never be happy b/c they are so self-sacrificing. Ah well, good times and that fight was epic.

Just watched 27 w/ subs and it blew my mind. But, the opening battle sequence on episode 1 didn't have much to do with the final arc AT ALL.

I'm kinda hoping there will be a second series with Gimmy (who we thought was simon) and the other guy seems to be an older human Boota.

I have to say, after the Final, that Gurren-Lagann is one of the best things I have ever seen for a long long time.

It's been a fun 7 months watching it, and it truly is one of the greatest anime ever.
The ending was fantastic, and tied up every loose end. Incredible battle, I shed manly tears as well.

Magnificent. Simply amazing. G-L will always be hard to beat.

Yeah it really was fantastic. The ending felt a bit bittersweet but we can't do anything about that so I'll just go with it.

The ending was perfect.

I understood everything - no ambiguous events, seeing all the characters and what they were doing afterwards. It was sad, it was happy, it was fascinating. It was amazing.

Some endings really bothered me (I.e. Abenobashi, Eva, you know, Gainax...)
Gurren-Lagann tied up the important loose ends and left me very satisfied, no "to be continued" or other cliffhangers, just a simple explanation of what happened afterwards. THAT is a good ending.

VaizardIchigo

Is it just me or did the city look a bit crowded in the future?

And yeah, I guess all the loose ends really are tied up.

Except for the man Genome spoke of, Kamina's father, and of course, the opening sequence.

But those aren't really very important.

OK guys, after watching it with subtitles, I think the anime ended well. How much difference it makes when we understand more what it's being said.

The boss fight was godly and the antispiral was kickass during the length of it.

Although I?m fucking bitter to no extend about Nia, I don't think Simon ended with a sad atmosphere around himself. He did what he had to do, drill holes so that people will pass by them.

AWESOME!!

TTGL, I will never forget you.

....but me want some sequel. I still want to see GARLOCK from episode 1, or prequel about Lordgenome. Lazengann kicks so much ass!!!

Peace out.

The sad part was Kittan, Kidd, Ailac, Zoushi and the twins.

And Kamina of course.

It was a great episode..I totally hated Nia's death and how Simon became the "Lone Wanderer"..an ending not fit for a hero of his mythic status..but he looked tired and wanted to pass the torch on I suppose..humanity grew it's own drill as strong as his..and if he was around they would have still been in his shadow..:(

But it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like hell!:arg..:cry..:scry

And his speech with the kid:
"Who the hell do you think I-..that's right,I am nobody.."
Oh Jesus,my God,I cryed!..:cry :cry :cry

NIAAAAAA!!!!!:cry
SIMOOOOOONNN!!!:arg

Possibility of mindfuck: 40%

So I'm thinking like some have said that the ending is just an alternative ending, and the real one is on an OVA or something. First episode 1 finally would make sense, instead of Simon just walking away after his wedding he joins the others in the galactic whatever fight against the spiral nemesis. In the ending it shows it 20 some odd years later, why would it take them 20 years to get together all of the other spiral words when they have the technology now? Plus in episode 1 it plays out like a galactic thing, so it only seems like this is the continuation. Plus Nia is gone now so It seems only fitting that Simon would be alone-ish on command(in Ep1), also theres still people who can fight so I'm guessing that in ep1 they were all out fighting and Simon is just waiting for the right moment to go out on the Gurren-Lagann with Viral/someone. Plus in the final battle against the Anti-Spiral I really didn't see boota/hobbes so that might go to add to my theory, that maybe he stays in his evolved form. Another thing is in the .ass(not sure how accurate it is), Simon says "I guess I'm no one" YEAH THAT SEEMS RIGHT! My theory(going off my first one) is that:

After Simons Wedding, He and the rest of the brigade go off and join the rest of the spiral worlds to fight the Nemesis, instead of the 20 years later that is portrayed in the end of ep27.

Hmm, actually that does make sense. I wanted some connection with Kamina's dad though. Like have Simon end up being him in some crazy time travel sort of way.

Yep, probably.

HOWEVER, if Gainax wanted to make a sequel of some sorts, they can easily do it. There is tons of stuff to use.

Also, plenty of scenes that seem un-neccesary, at least now.
for example, what was the deal with Boota evolving? If he hadn't evolved, the plot would have been the same anyway. Perhaps there is something relevant there, especially considering he appears in the Opening sequence.

Another thing - all the Spiral races are forming an alliance. A Dimensional government, perhaps?

I'm not gonna get my hopes up for a sequel, but I can easily see one being made. There is a lot of material to use if they do.

There is still hope for GARlock. Although that kid wouldn't do justice to that name.

09-30-2007, 07:35 PM
Wow in one episode Simon's GAR factor increased 1000 fold. Tough for me to decide between him and Kamina now. The finale definitely ended well the final battle and conclusion really wasn't that shocking and it seemed to be a good way to do things. I kind of want to see a continuation with Gimmy and Darry starring or possible a prequel with the spiral knights and Kamina's dad.

Ah Nia! We should have known better! Nono from Diabuster=Nia from TTGL,
even have the same voice actress, same eyes and she was also a virtual being and both of them disappear to protect humanity. I mentioned this long ago but I quit mentioning because I didn't want people reaching for my throat!

Now that everyone has come to terms with Nia's death I will say, I called it! I didn't want to gloat at the beginning with all people grieiving. For the next Gainax show, just look at their previous shows. Always some one is going to be sacrificed to save the day! I won't deny i was hoping I was wrong, I was actually hoping I was wrong after episode 22. This is one of the few times I have regreted being right. :cry
